Recap: 

"Everyone!" Kai yells, capturing the students' attention. "We are now announcing the new member of Exo!" The cafeteria went silent. I pale. I didn't think I'd actually get accepted. Especially since Baekhyun was part of Exo, and he seems to hate my guts. Speaking of which, where was he, anyways? "Phoenix Hwang! Treat him well!" I look at Miyeon in alarm. Only, Miyeon seemed as confused as I was. Jisung looked smug. Henry looked happy for me. Chohyun too, surprisingly. 

The cafeteria was still silent, waiting for me to speak. My fangirls looked extremely happy. A moment passed. And then, when I finally found my voice, I utter a single word. 

"What?" The cafeteria erupted into cheers. Chanyeol laughs boisterously. 

"See, Phoenix? I told you it'll work!" He grins at me. "Phoenix? Why are you so still?" I look at him, still dazed. 

"What?" I say again helplessly. Suho just laughs. 

"We need to get you a bigger vocabulary."

Phoenix POV 

The rest of lunch was a blur. The only thing I remembered was Exo (not including Baekhyun) sitting at my table, and Jisung passing out. 'Miyeon might've pulled me out and questioned why I was part of Exo, the most popular group in the whole school,' I remembered, dazed, but my expression must have told Miyeon I had no idea what was going on too, because Miyeon stopped.  

Oh. Right. The band room was done, and we band kids finally got to play our instruments. Sehun kept clinging onto me during band, I recalled. Mrs. Taylor was cool. She was half caucasian and half Korean, but you wouldn't have known if she didn't tell you; she looked full caucasian.  

But none of that mattered right now. The only thing that was on my mind was why. 'Why was I chosen, if Baekhyun loathed me? Why did he voted yes? He had to, I know it. Chanyeol told me it had to be a unanimous decision, so Baekhyun had to agree. Was it to torment me further?' So many questions, so few answers. I just hope that Baekhyun decides to show up to class today, maybe he could answer my questions.  

"Phoenix," Sehun hisses, drawing me out of my thoughts, "Pay attention! Mrs. Taylor's looking our way!"
