CHAPTER 23
But What Do You Mean You're A Girl[CONTENTID1]Chapter 23[/CONTENTID1]
[CONTENTID2]"Hey, did you hear about that new kid?" Youngjae questions me. I yawn, still not used to waking up early. Christmas break is over, and school is now back in session. Not to mention, my wallet is empty from buying my friends souvenirs from New York.
"New kid? You mean me?" I laid my head down on the desk. Youngjae snorts, and copies my movements.
"Phoenix, you're not new anymore. But yeah, there's a new kid. It's a guy, and apparently, he's not from here." I shrug, not at all affected. Suho and Kai walks in, face grim.
"So you guys heard about the new kid, too?" Kai heads up to us. "Apparently, he's from the states. But he's not Korean, either." He sits in an empty chair next to us, while Suho stands in front of us.
"He's also joining our class today. That's all the information we have now, though," Suho his head at me. "Phoenix, you okay? You look like a zombie."
"I'm fine," I groan. "Just sleepy." Then, the ear piercing shriek of the school bell awakens me. I jump up in surprise, and got a few snickers from Youngjae.
The other students all come in, one by one, until everyone was all here. Suho and Kai stayed put, though.
"Aren't you gonna move?" I frown. "Mrs. Go will yell at you if you don't."
"Every new semester, we get a seating change," Suho explains. "It doesn't matter where we sit now. They'll change it up later." Just as he said that, Mrs. Go comes in, looking as strict as ever.
"Everyone, sit down!" She barks. Suho complies, and plops down on the nearest chair he could find. "We'll have a new seating chart today, but first, we have a new student! And, unlike our old one, he managed to find my classroom on time!" I blush, remembering the scene I caused on my first day of school. Kai winks at me, clearly knowing what Mrs. Go was talking about. "Everyone, please welcome Xi Luhan!"
Luhan. Luhan. Suddenly, my heart froze. My hands starts shaking violently, and anger runs through my veins. Suho looks at me worriedly, and grabbed my right hand.
It didn't help one bit. Memories rushed into my head, all filled with Luhan.
Of course he'd come back to bite me. All the running away had been futile, then.
A tall figure comes in the classroom and waves. I hissed, and exhaled sharply. No doubt about it, all right. It's not a coincidence after all.
"Hello, my name is Xi Luhan," the boy greets. All the girls in class swoons. "My parents got a new job here, so I moved with them. I am Chinese, but from New York, so please bear with me if I butcher up my Korean." Luhan looks around the classroom, taking everyone in. Then, his eyes landed on me. "Phoenix?" His eyes widen.
"What's going on?" Kai whispers to me. "Why does he know you?" The entire class wanted to know that, too. Even Mrs. Go looked shocked.
"Luhan." I greet coldly. "Long time no see. What a coincidence, huh?" Whispers floated around the class. All eyes were on me and Luhan. "You haven't changed one bit."
"Phoenix, wait—" Youngjae starts.
"He's my ex," I mutter, standing up from my seat. "The one and only ex that I talked about before." Grabbing my backpack, I head towards the door. "Mrs. Go, I'm not feeling well today. Please let me go to the nurse's office," I call out to her. Not giving her a chance to speak, I ran out the door, ignoring her protests.
