SerendipityDaehyun shivered underneath the yellow blanket and wrapped the fabric even tighter around his body. He'd had lit up a fire in his little house and soaked in the warmth that was radiating off it. At least he didn't feel so numb anymore but his legs didn't stop shaking, it was worse than the last time but then, he spent more time in the winter woods than before.
He had been there to search for his beautiful snow fairy and luck was on his side and the pretty male had been on the same frozen lake again like a few days ago. This time, Daehyun had dared to get a little closer to the other male but still careful that he wouldn't be detected.
The snow fairy had bright blue eyes and his laughter sounded like a beautiful melody to Daehyun. He didn't understand how the other could have so much fun being alone, playing in the cold mountains of white crystals but it the other didn't seem to mind. His wings had been flapping, spreading blue pixie dust everywhere he went.
There was a knock on his door and hesitantly, Daehyun walked towards it. Sticking his head through the tiny open crack of the door, he sighed with relief when it was Jongup, his best friend who was on the other side.
Jongup didn't wait for him to open the door but pushed the other aside with a gentle force. Daehyun knew what was coming, he couldn't really hide the steam coming out of the chimney of his house after all.
“You've been there again,” Jongup deadpanned. It was not a question but a statement and Daehyun's head lowered in guilt as he nodded slightly.
“This is dangerous,” the other fairy said. His voice was gentle but it still couldn't hide the worry that was laced in between.
Jongup never got angry, he was the gentle summer fairy that everyone approached when they needed help with something and the young male always had an open ear for everyone. With his calm aura and charming smile, Jongup was popular among all summer fairies and in Daehyun's opinion, the other had the biggest heart of all.
“I'm sorry,” Daehyun murmured as the other began rubbing his back once he was in front of the fire again.
“I'm just worried about you. You can't risk your life for this snow boy. Who knows what might happen to you if you stay for too long, you might freeze or your wings could break,” Jongup said softly.
“You should come with me! You don't understand how amazing the winter wood is,” Daehyun replied.
Between the two of them, Daehyun had always been the more careless one, the one who simply followed his heart without worrying too much about consequences. He always thought he would think about this when he actually had to face it. Jongup however thought about everything twice before he approved. Daehyun knew this was a bad habit and that he had crossed a line but his heart said yes.
“I'm not going to the winter woods,” Jongup said and the other pouted. “And you shouldn't go there anymore either but I know you well enough to know that you will go again. Please take care of yourself before something happens to you.”
Daehyun turned around and embraced the other fairy in his arms. Jongup's skin felt warm and he felt himself stop shaking immediately. The other seemed to sense Daehyun's needs just as always and didn't lose his grip on him until their skin had the same temperature again.
After that, Jongup made a tea for them. Despite being a little bit younger than Daehyun, he had always taken good care of him. Jongup left when the sun started setting, giving the older one last warning to be careful before he closed the door behind himself.
