Golden Leaves
SerendipityYoungjae jumped in shock when his door burst open just when he was about to turn the knob. The door almost slammed his face but thankfully he was quick enough to avoid the painful encounter. It was early in the morning so he was surprised that someone would come to visit him.
In front of him was Daehyun, in the white sweater and blue beanie that Youngjae had given him and a wide smile on his lips.
“Good morning,” Daehyun beamed as he closed the door behind him.
“What are you doing here?” Youngjae asked.
“I'm glad to see you're happy to see me,” Daehyun took of the sweater and flew to Youngjae's bed, wrapping the white blanket around his body.
“I am happy,” Youngjae sighed. “But aren't you getting into trouble?”
“No one will notice if I skip a few hours,” Daehyun said. Only Daehyun's face peeked out of the blanket, the sight made Youngjae smile.
“I want you to come to the summer glade with me today,” Daehyun announced happily.
“I... I don't think this is a good idea,” Youngjae mumbled. He wanted nothing more than to explore Daehyun's home and see with his own eyes what he had only read in books before. But he was scared after what Himchan had said about their wings.
“Come here,” Daehyun said and wiggled his arms free from his self made cocoon. The winter fairy did what he was asked to and sat next to Daehyun, looking at him expectantly.
“After you gave Jongup your pixie dust a few days ago, he said he didn't feel the cold anymore so I thought that if I would give you some of mine, you could be able to leave the winter woods,” the animal fairy explained.
Youngjae thought for a moment. The idea sounded very appealing and he was curious but worried at the same time.
“It's worth a try, isn't it? We can stay close to the border and if it doesn't work then you can go back,” Daehyun turned around, lying on his back and looking up at Youngjae with big and pleading eyes.
Locking the gaze with the warm chocolate orbs crushed all of Youngjae's resistance and when he nodded, Daehyun leaped into the snow fairy's lap, wrapping his arms around the pale boy's thin frame.
“But,” Youngjae started and the other looked up, a small pout on his pink lips. “Let's try the autumn forest first.”
Daehyun nodded. It made sense, the weather was colder there, somewhere in the middle between the winter woods and the summer glade but still colder than the spring valley and it would be a good trial to see if his plan worked.
Youngjae stood up and opened his cupboard. The clothes inside were all white and different shades of blue, most of them of a pastel tone. After a few moments, the snow fairy held out and outfit similar to his, with another white sweater and blue pants.
Knowing what the other wanted, Daehyun accepted the clothes and changed. The sweater felt really soft on his skin and unlike the other clothes he had worn, the fabric didn't restrict his wings. He thought that he looked good in this colour and put the little bag with his golden pixie dust into his pocket and after an approving nod, Youngjae took a pinch of his sparkling blue pixie dust and let it sprinkle down on Daehyun's brown hair.
“The route is too long to walk, we have to fly,” Youngjae explained, a cute smile on his face.
Daehyun felt the difference immediately, excitement bubbled up in his stomach at the thought of flying though the calm snowflakes and feeling them on his skin.
“Let's go,” Daehyun beamed excitedly and a melodic laugh escaped Youngjae's lips.
Youngjae opened the door and opened it hesitantly, letting in the cold air. The summer fairy approached the cool breeze carefully but just as Jongup had said, the air felt comfortable around him. With a joyous cry, Daehyun darted out, flying around the little igloo house in quick circle, the widest smile on his face that Youngjae had ever seen.
They made their way to the Autumn border, making a beeline around the other fairies. Just like Youngjae had said, the way was actually quite far, much further than the Summer border and Daehyun was thankful.
Experiencing the winter woods like that gave him a whole set of sensations he had never felt before, he felt incredibly light and free and
