Bumble Bee
SerendipityWhen Daehyun arrived at the bee hives, the bees were already waiting for him. He was proud because it had taken him almost 2 weeks until they had memorized the time he would be picking him up. Just to make sure, he counted the bees again because he could never know what kind of mischief the young ones would be up to. But everyone was there and he smiled.
“Let's go,” he beamed and then the air around him was filled with a soft buzzing.
The flight to the flower meadow was short but Daehyun enjoyed the warm breeze that tousled his hair and the sun rays on the back of his neck, it made him feel alive. He'd had spent so much time in the winter woods that he started to appreciate the warmth even more.
It wasn't that he didn't like it in the winter woods, the ice and snow in white and all shades of a crystal blue were beautiful and magical, and he couldn't wait to explore even more things that he had yet to discover. But summer meant home and his home meant memories.
Daehyun would love to take Youngjae to his home, to share his memories with the snow fairy but it was too dangerous. He could cover his wings with a coat to keep himself safe but for Youngjae's wings there was no escape from the heat.
They arrived at the meadow and whilst the bees went straight to work, Daehyun sat down in the middle of a large sunflower with a sigh. He liked watching the bees, there was something relaxing about the way they worked so diligently and he closed his eyes for a moment to take a deep breath and let the fragrant smell of the flowers come to him.
The bees were picking up pollen to make honey. Daehyun loved honey, the golden liquid was so heavenly sweet and he wondered if Youngjae had ever tried it. The berries Daehyun had eaten in the winter woods were mostly sour so he doubted it. Maybe he would bring something to Youngjae the next time he had enough time to visit him, just the face Youngjae would make when he tasted the sweetness for the first time would make it worth it.
He sat there for a few hours, watching over the bees to make sure that no one would get lost, occasionally flying the route between the meadow and the bee hives. But there had been no troubles and everything had gone well and he was happy. It was difficult to handle the bees because they got excited easily and every little quarrel turned into a mass fight easily. A couple of animal fairies had failed before so he took pride in his ability to teach the young bees what they needed to know.
Daehyun hadn't seen Youngjae for a few days, there was simply too much to do, leaving him with no time for himself. There had always been times that were busy and times where he could just enjoy himself but he had to admit that he missed his little snow angel a lot. He wondered if Youngjae would like it here.
“Hey.” Daehyun felt a warm hand on his shoulder and turned his head to look up into Jongup's warm eyes.
Daehyun wiggled to the side to make space for the light fairy. Jongup glowed beautifully in the sunlight, something that Daehyun had always admired. There had been times where he had wished to be a light fairy as well. It had been just after he was born and laid eyes on them for the first time.
Every fairy had something distinct that separated them of the others. In Daehyun's case it was the talent to communicate with every animal and also his sense of hearing and smelling was better. Light fairies had a natural glow that made them stand out because it wasn't that kind of glow fairies got from the pixie dust but a warm shade of gold that made every fairy turn their heads when a light fairy happened to fly past.
Daehyun wondered what the difference between Himchan and Youngjae was, there wasn't anything visible but that didn't mean anything.
“How is it g
