Prologue
SerendipityWhen a baby laughed for the first time, a fairy was born. The laughter was carried by the wind all the way to the world of fairies, where everyone gathered to welcome their new member. Depending on where the wind carried the newborn, they could land in one of four areas: the winter woods, the summer lawn, the autumn forest or the spring falls.
Every area was important not only for the balance of the world of fairies but also for the world of humans. When the seasons changed, it was all thanks to the hard work of fairies. To keep the balance between the areas there was one rule for everyone: don't leave your zone!
Daehyun had always been adventurous, wondering what he would find beyond the borders of the summer lawn. He loved his home, he really did. He enjoyed the warm sun rays on his skin, being woken up by cheerful animals and mostly, he really liked his friends.
But he was curious, how did the other fairies look like? What did they do? Did they also have dark brown hair and eyes and tanned skin like him? Were their wings of the same shape like his?
He often flew past the border to the winter woods, he could see the snowflakes falling on the other side but he had never actually dared to step his foot onto the small way that lead him into the tempting white wonderland. They had been warned to never ever cross the borders and so they had not, never.
The white crystals falling from the sky were so alluring though, Daehyun wondered what they would feel like on his skin. He stepped to the border as close as possible, wondering if anyone would find out if he just stretched his arm out for a little moment.
Biting his bottom lip, Daehyun decided it was worth a try. Slowly, he lifted his arm and held his breath as his fingertips approached the unknown air. It was cold, really cold and as if he had been stung by a bee, he retreated his hand again quickly. The sensation was foreign, he wasn't used to his body shivering with coldness, but apart from that nothing had happened.
Of course nothing happened, what had he expected anyway?
