Forbidden HeartbeatThe heat of summer made it tiring to keep her lids open, at the same time her teary eyes blurred her vision. Lee Yejin was out of breath before she could see the location of her destination clearly. She was dressed in a black spaghetti tank top and dark blue capris and her long straight black hair let loose. In a few months she will be going to college, a month ago she graduated high school as a top student.
An hour before she received a call to the police station; Ailee came back home after spending most of the day with her friends, the Woo twins Kevin and Amber, and her boyfriend, Roh Jihoon. Jihoon told Yejin that his parents were coming over to dine with hers and that they would be setting up the engagement date between the two. When Yejin got home she found a note that her parents had gone out to purchase groceries for tonight's dinner. About twenty minutes in, the house phone ring and Yejin answered it happily thinking it was her parents. The news from the caller broke Yejin's smile and heart.
"This is Seoul's Police Headquarters, your parents has been involved an accident. Please come down."
Without hanging up the phone properly she rushed to the police department.
Yejin finally notices the sign at the building's entrance. It read Seoul's Police Station, she walks in and was escorted by an assistant at the front into an interrogation room. Her parents' expressions were full of worries and anger while sitting in the room side by side. Once Yejin sets foot in, she couldn't help but cry as her mother and father embrace her as well, each one calling one another's name.
Yejin grasps her mother's hands in her own placing them on her nervous lap. The color of their skin were similar, tanner white. Her father sat quietly to her mother's side with his hands intertwined across his laps. Finally a detective takes a seat across from them after grabbing their attention by slamming a green folder on the empty part of the desk. He release a sharp sigh, "You're Lee Yejin? Their daughter?" Yejin nods after hesitating.
"W-what happen?"
"Your parents hit two people with their car." The detective finish then turn to her father, "Roh Jaejun and Roh Yeonja are in a critical state, doctor said the chance of them living again is lower than 15%. Why did you hit them?" he asks. Yejin jaw drop,
"W-who did you say, who were the victims?" Yejin asks hoping she heard wrong.
"Roh Jaejun and Yeonja?" he repeats and look over to her, Yejin's felt her heart dropped. She shook her head in disbelieve.
"Let me go!" a struggle broke out in the halls and grabs everyone's attention. A furious and out of shape Roh Jihoon enters scanning around for the culprits after hearing the news. Yejin who was hidden from Jihoon's sight stood up shocked.
"J-Jihoon...." Jihoon's anger and heavy breathing came to an immediate halt when he locked eyes with Yejin.
"Yejin, what are you--?" He finally caught up and couldn't help himself when he grabs Yejin's father by the collar.
"Mr. Lee! Tell me you're not here because of my parents!" Yejin, her mother, and two other detectives interfere to pull Jihoon away. Yejin's father's face was red with anger and thoughtlessly he shouted,
"They came out from nowhere! Why were they walking when they have a car?! Serve them right!" he readjust his calm composure after clearing his throat, and seeing all twenty pair of eyes on him. Jihoon was surprised by the attitude he got from Yejin's father. He has known the man for five years and didn't want to accept the reality.
Jihoon was asked to step out while the detectives talk with the Lee's. After some time Yejin came out from the room and into the hall where she notice a blood shot eyes Jihoon.
