Chapter 24: The Entreaties
Gyo Min clutched the brown envelope on his hands, holding them tightly against his chest as his other hand was holding the knob of the slightly opened door.
‘Did he mean it?’ he asked in mind.
He was, of course, happy for the proposal his sister just received from the man who has been the cause of her misery and bliss at the same time.
‘But…’ he asked again. ‘Does he know?’
He continued eavesdropping, waiting for the response of his sister. Inside the room, Hyun Joong also anticipated for what reaction he might get from the other party.
So Min stared blankly at the shimmering object inside the box he was holding. More tears began streaming down. This made the guy panic.
“Wha—?”
And before he could finish questioning, a loud pounding of her fist landed on his thorax, followed by numerous of them.
“Hey!” he retaliated whilst trying to avoid her punches but failed incredibly. Their approximation was too close for him to dodge from it.
She whined loudly as she shook her head, along with the incessant hits she gives him.
“Stop! Stop! It hurts!” he finally succeeded when he grabbed her wrists, forcefully holding them down in between the two of them.
She tried breaking free from his hold but stronger were his arms than hers.
“What’s the matter?” he spoke with concern in spite of the emerging pain he feels physically. But seeing her in a devastated state like that was more painful.
“I hate you!” she mewled. “I hate you! I hate you!”
He just looked at her cynically, trying to decrypt her thoughts and feelings based on what she was saying.
“First, you left. You came back saying you love me but you’re getting married. And now you’re getting married if I accept you? Why are you doing this?” she carped. “Is it so much fun playing with me? Do you know how hard it was when you left? I don’t understand this. It’s too complicated.”
Her complains surprised him but girls will always be girls.
