 “Babe?” So Min asked in disbelief, thinking it was just one of her hallucinations.

“Did you just call me babe?” she asked Hyun Joong who was standing in front of her. She knew it wasn’t him who called her that. But she just wanted to clarify if she heard it clearly. And before she could get an answer, she saw him looking at something, or rather, someone behind her. She reluctantly followed the line of his sight.

‘CRAP!!’ she screamed in her mind as her eyes settled on the familiar figure that she did not want to see anymore.

Lee Soo Bae’s business trip was supposed to end the week after that. But due to the swift improvements during the meetings and with his bossing abilities, it ended miraculously earlier than what has been settled. It was past dinner time and he was about to head to his apartment. But he chose to drop by the office to leave the papers he got from the trip. As much as possible, he did not want to bring work matters at home. He was tired but there was something telling him to head to his office building. It was not so bad to follow instincts. And with what he saw, he was really glad that he did go there.

But it was obvious in So Min’s eyes that she wasn’t as glad as Soo Bae for that sudden meeting after a month of cruelty.

 “I’m sorry to disturb you. I really did not have any intentions of coming here. I was just nearby and thought of visiting but you are busy with a lot of work.” She was talking to Hyun Joong who was now behind her. But she wasn’t looking at him because she didn’t remove her gaze away from Soo Bae’s. She just inclined her head so that it was pointing slightly at Hyun Joong’s direction.

“I’m going now,” she ended and began walking past her former boyfriend. But as expected, Soo Bae stopped her by holding her arm.

“Let’s talk,” he said imperturbably.

She attempted to break away from his grip as she answered, “There’s nothing left for us to talk about.”

“Oh really?” he smirked at her and continued, “We didn’t even have a formal conversation.”

“What?” she annoyingly asked. She chuckled and shook her head. “You’ve gone insane! Let me go!”

She triumphed in escaping from his hold and briskly walked away from him. Her heart was beating violently. It seemed like all the pain went back in an instant by just the sight of him.

‘I have moved on! I have moved on! I have moved on!’ she repeatedly chanted in her mind as she headed to the elevator. Tears were dangerously coming up, ready to fall down.

She successfully made it to the elevator, down to the lobby. She was hearing footsteps approaching her fast. Thinking it was Soo Bae following her, she doubled her speed to reach the exit. As soon as she was outside the building, she felt someone forcing her to turn around, but she did not want to oblige.

“LET ME GO!! AAHH!!” she yelled without turning back. This time, her tears started falling out.

“Hey, hey! It’s me, okay? Don’t worry.”

She stopped struggling when she heard the person spoke using the voice that always calm the nerves within her. She hastily turned around and plunged her face on his body.

Hyun Joong saw the whole scene. He did not move a muscle when Soo Bae held So Min’s arm to stop her on her tracks because he knew she would not agree to what Soo Bae had been requesting. When she almost ran out of the place, he saw the crystalline water in the corner of her eyes when she made a turn to reach the elevators. That was his signal to go after her.

“Welcome back, Sir.” He gave Soo Bae a slight bow before completely disappearing through the stairs. He went down as fast as he can.

On the 15th floor, he was already out of breath. He saw an elevator door opening. Thinking it was the same lift So Min rode, he ran to it and entered. Sadly, she wasn’t there inside. But at least he could go down faster with the ride.

He was relieved when he saw her running towards the exit. He used the power of his longer legs to catch up with her. He succeeded and now, she was there once again in his arms.

‘Screw this!’ he thought as he passed his hands on her back.

Why was it that whenever he and So Min see each other, it had to be that way? She had to be crying and he had to be the comfort zone. Could there be anything better than just that? It was not like he was complaining. In fact, he was more worry-free if she cries with him by her side. But it was just a hurtful sight for him.

‘When will this end?’ he asked himself.

“Shh! He’s not here now. Stop. Please, just stop,” Due to his thinkings, he wasn’t aware that he was already adjuring her to stop cryin
