“UGH!” Hyun Joong groaned when he tried to sit up. He looked around him and saw the living room of their house.
Right. He passed out on the couch after savouring 2880 ml of liquor. There was a pillow under his head and a blanket over his body. The table was clean from the mess he did there last night. He had not changed from his work clothes and the time said he was 2 hours late from work.
He checked his phone and found several messages from the people in the company. He could only grin as the image of his irritated boss emerged on his brain.
‘I gave him the chance. The chance to prove himself again.’
The words seemed alive that they erased the grin on his face. He stood up, fixed the couch and headed to the kitchen before the pain haunts him again. He looked for something that could ease his hang-over and the pain from yesterday’s events even though the chance is small.
A note on the table saying that his breakfast was in the oven caught his attention. He settled it on the table and began eating. It was past 10 in the morning and his work begins at 8. He decided to just take a half-day in the afternoon and try to talk to Soo Bae for a major choice he just made.

Hye Rim stared at her friend in disbelief. agape, her eyes filled with annoyance. How could So Min do that to HIM? To someone who never left her side all this time. To someone who always thinks of her welfare before his own?
“You’re so cruel!! How could you??!” she bellowed with her brows almost crossing each other.
So Min, not knowing the real meaning of what her friend asked, stared back at her with confusion. “Cruel? What for?” she asked innocently.
Hye Rim sighed and let her body slump down on her office chair. Lately, So Min’s primitiveness brings out the evil in her. Everyone can admit her undeniable chemistry with Hyun Joong, so why can’t she?
Being the understanding best friend that she was, she reached out for So Min’s hands on the table. “So Min, listen to me. Listen to me carefully. Why don’t you meditate for a bit? Think about your feelings. I want you to dig it out, everything you have in there. When you’re done, come back to me and tell me what you’ve found out, okay? And I really hope it’s good news otherwise, I’ll break up with Jong Hyun.”
She didn’t give So Min a chance to speak as she dragged her swivel chair along to go back to her office table.
So Min was left there flummoxed and saturated with the last words Hye Rim bequeathed her. In the midst of her pondering, her phone’s ringing made her leave the matter alone and just think of it for another day.

“Are you ready?” Soo Bae asked So Min when he saw her going out of her office building.
“I’m ready when you are,” said So Min.
The phone call she received was from him, asking her if they could spend some time together – just like the old times minus the label as a couple and the sweet gestures that such people do.
The ride went silently as both of them were drenched in their own thoughts, not knowing that they were thinking of the same person.
Kim Hyun Joong
Why? Better ask them.
“What do you wanna do first?” Soo Bae asked for the night not to be ruined.
So Min wasn’t really on the mood. All she wanted was to go home to think things over, but she has already compromised on this during their phone conversation. It would be too rude to back out now.
She was taking so long to answer, so Soo Bae parked the car near a mall and talked to her, “Look, I don’t want to scare you. I’m here to prove myself and my intentions. So is it okay if we start with the basics first – movies, dinner and say, a little chitchat? I mean you know, catch things up with the latest gossips about ourselves?”
So Min, also not wanting to ruin the night, smiled and nodded at him.

The movie they picked was a romantic one but the protagonists did not end up together as the male lead decided to stay far from the female because of uncertainty issues.
“If you’re not going to keep him, just let him go. He’ll be better off without you.”
This was a scripted line of the second female lead in the movie. Out of all the thousand dialogues, it bothered So Min the most.
‘He’ll be better off without you.’
It repeated countless times in her wits and she couldn’t figure out why Hyun Joong doesn’t leave her mind.
