Chapter 9

Hopeless

            I sat there waiting for the news to arrive. The heater was blasting so much heat into the lobby but we, the ones who had been left behind, felt as cold as ice. I am desperate as any woman whose lover was in peril outta be. I wanted news and I wanted to hear them now. What if the news is bad? I asked myself.

            “No it can’t be!” I mumbled to myself as I looked at the snow covered ground beyond the hotel’s floor to ceiling windows. I felt a hand closed over mine and I saw Tiffany trying her best to give me her eyesmile. Behind her smiling eyes I knew that she was just as devastated as I am.

            “I will be ok Taeyeon. They will be fine.” She told me but I knew that she was actually telling herself that as a reassurance. I glanced at the other Akanishi sibling and saw her nervously playing with her fingers while looking outside. I nodded at Tiffany and held her hand tighter hoping I could comfort her the way she was comforting me.

            Three freaking hours had passed and still there was no news. The other women in the room were nearing their limits. I saw Mrs. Richardson muttering to herself that her husband was dead. I fear for the old woman she seemed so fragile and I could feel that she would break any moment. Jessica had been with the staff and was helping in calming the people. I admired her, I didn’t even have the courage to calm myself yet here she was calmly aiding the troubled minds of our fellow guests.

            “She’s good at that.” I hear Tiffany said while she brought two cups of coffee my way.
