“Watch where you’re going, book nerd!” Young Jae sniffled as the small group of boys walked away, laughing despite the fact that Young Jae’s things were scattered everywhere. He hated being picked on constantly by almost all of the popular kids, or even just the other kids in general, but.. he had to deal with it. Young Jae had heard that teenagers were usually bad in middle and high school, so if he could just endure the next five years, then it would all be over. Until he finished high school and then university, Young Jae refused to throw in the towel.

Still, it wasn’t nice that all these kids picked on him just because he liked to study, was one of the most quietest and socially awkward kids at school, and was just a wee bit tubby. Sniffling a little more, Young Jae finally began picking up one book at a time. He had been pushed over earlier and instead of receiving an apology, the only thing he received was laughter. Himchan, his best friend, was currently at home sick and couldn’t defend Young Jae like he usually did.

As Young Jae picked up another book, a hand caught him by surprise as it wiped the tear that had begun to fall down his cheek. He lifted his gaze and the second he did so, his eyes widened the second he made eye contact with the last person on Earth he thought would even notice him, let alone touch his cheek. “Don’t cry. I think you look better with a smile on your face.” (DH)

The boy knelt down, picking up the rest of the books as Young Jae couldn’t help but continue to stare in disbelief. The boy in front of him was Jung Daehyun, the most popular male in school. He may not have been the smartest kid in school, but Daehyun was definitely one of the handsomest. Plus, his singing ability is only rivaled by a select few. There have also been rumors that he has dated many older women than him, despite his kind exterior. Thanks to these rumors though, it only seemed to make Daehyun’s popularity sky rocket among the males and increase the desire within women.

“Here you go.” (DH) Young Jae finally pulled his gaze from Daehyun’s face as he looked down at the books being held out to him. He stared at his books for a few more seconds before quickly taking them into his grasp and hugging them tightly in a protective manner. Daehyun chuckled a bit as he reached up and ruffled Young Jae’s hair. “Take care, alright? Try to smile more. It really suits you.” (DH)

Getting to his feet, Daehyun made sure to help Young Jae up as well before giving a warm smile and leaving. Young Jae stood frozen in place as he watched Daehyun disappear from his sight. Once he was finally able to pull himself together, Young Jae turned red as he began walking to class in a daze.

That... was the beginning.

Since that day, Young Jae has been thinking of Daehyun almost every second of his life. He couldn’t help but feel like admiring the male, wishing he could either be just like Daehyun or even, be by his side. It was also thanks to Daehyun that Young Jae had stopped being the target of many different pranks. However, that day had been the only day that Daehyun had actually spoken to him.

They only ever ended up passing by one another in the hallways. A wave and a smile had been given from Daehyun ever now and then, but that was the only time that Young Jae had received acknowledgment from the other male. Young Jae yearned for more, more than just a smile and a wave, but this yearning confused him. Why was he like this? Why did he smile like a fool and feel himself heat up every time he saw Daehyun or even when he thought about him? It didn’t make any sense.

At least, not until high school.

Once in high school, every week, Daehyun was almost always seen with a different girl wrapped around his arm. Every time he saw this, Young Jae would feel this sort of angry feeling grow from deep inside of him. He wanted those girls, all girls, away from Daehyun, but he knew that he couldn’t do that. So, his angry feelings would soon turn into some sort of depression and then it would quickly turn into worry for what kind of girl would show up the next week.

Through all of this torment, Himchan had been there to support Young Jae as much as humanly possible. After all, they had been friends since elementary school. What kind of best friend would he be if he didn’t support Young Jae as best as possible?

Despite all of this though, Himchan had been paying extra special attention to Young Jae whenever Daehyun was brought up. The anger, the sadness, then the worry? Even the false hope of Daehyun no longer dating another girl made it all too obvious. Young Jae clearly had a crush on Daehyun! But.. did Young Jae know about this?

“Hey, Young Jae. Are you... gay?” (HC) Finally, after a few months of starting their sophomore year or rather, tenth grade, Himchan had drawn up the courage to finally ask the question that has been constantly on his mind for a while. Young Jae, however, didn’t know the answer to that. He could only stare with wide eyes at Himchan, caught completely off guard by how sudden the question had been. “Helloo~! Earth to Young Jae! I asked if you’re gay!” (HC)

“I... I don’t know. I’ve never.. never thought about it before. Why do you ask..?” (YJ) Himchan thought on this for a moment. Maybe Young Jae really was gay and just didn’t know about it. Well, if that was the case, then Himchan was definitely going to make sure that his friend finally found out his uality!

“Well, cause I know you have a crush on Daehyun! That’s why you’re always so jealous!” (HC)

“W-What?!” (YJ) Young Jae lowered his gaze as he turned a bit red. Was this true? Did he really have a crush on Daehyun? That.. couldn’t be true, right? Young Jae had thought that he just idolized Daehyun. He didn’t think that all of these feelings meant that he had a crush on Daehyun and was also jealous of all those girls being able to have Daehyun hold them. “A-Are you sure? I mean... it could be anything!” (YJ)

“How am I supposed to know?! It’s your feelings, not mine!” (HC) Young Jae furrowed his eyebrows as he turned to his right. Maybe this really was true. Maybe.. just maybe.. his best friend was actually right about his suspicions.

Ever since Young Jae’s eyes opened to the truth, he has been thinking of various.. other.. situations that he could be in with Daehyun. They were all innocent situations of course and as time passed by, Young Jae was trying to build the courage to even just speak to Daehyun.

Now, every time they passed in the hallway, Young Jae finally started saying ‘hi’ or ‘hello’. Daehyun always seemed to look much more energetic and cheerful whenever Young Jae did this, but Young Jae didn’t think anything of it. Maybe that’s just how Daehyun was around everyone that was friendly to him. Because of this thought though, Young Jae felt as if he didn’t even stand a chance with getting Daehyun’s attention past just a friend.

Now.. they were in university.

Thanks to Himchan’s way of getting information, not that Young Jae was going to be questioning it, Young Jae and Himchan were both able to get into the same university as Daehyun. This was the year that he had to make sure that he actually got noticed by Daehyun.

“I’m nervous..” (YJ) Young Jae put his hands to his poor belly as he felt the butterflies fluttering around far too much for his liking. He disliked, even hated this feeling but.. what was he supposed to do about it? There weren’t a lot of ways that would actually calm Young Jae’s nervousness.

“Oh, lighten up! I’ll be watching from a distance and come in to save you if you mess up! Just calm down, or else you’re going to end up throwing up on him!” (HC) Himchan gave Young Jae a pat on the back, but that didn’t seem to comfort him at all. It was comforting to know that Himchan would at least be there to watch over him, but... the fact that Himchan brought up the possibility of throwing up made him nervous all over again.

What if he really did throw up on Daehyun?! Daehyun would never want to talk to him ever again! Young Jae ruffled his hair in frustration, earning himself a smack on his arm from Himchan as the older male began fussing with his hair again. “Hey! Don’t mess up your hair, you idiot! Do you not realize how long it took me to perfect it?! Jeez.. just get it over with already if you’re that nervous!” (HC)

“This is difficult though! I don’t want to be rejected or for him to look at me with disgust if he isn’t gay..” (YJ) No matter how much Himchan had tried to find out, he just couldn’t find any sort of hints or information that even gave a small glimmer of hope that Daehyun could possibly be gay.

“It doesn’t matter! If he isn’t interested, he isn’t interested! You can finally move on and chase after someone else!” (HC) No! Young Jae didn’t want that! He never wanted to chase after anyone else! Daehyun was the only guy that he ever wanted to be with and he can’t be with Daehyun then.. he would rather not be with anyone. “Go on! Get it over with! I fixed your hair so you looked great. Now get going.” (HC)

Himchan turned the younger male around before finally pushing him forward. Young Jae turned to Himchan and let out a small whimper, but Himchan only gave him that stern look as he folded his arms and tapped his foot impatiently. With one last whimper, Young Jae turned back around and took small baby steps towards his intended destination, which wasn’t all that far to begin with.

Still.. it felt like he was leagues, even light years away as his eyes instantly landed on the side of Daehyun’s laughing face. Daeyhun was currently sitting at a table with a laptop open in front of him just outside of a cafe on campus. He was finally alone after being surrounded by so many of his friends and whichever girlfriend he had at the time in high school that it made it difficult to even attempt to approach the male. Even so, now was his chance. Now was that shining light that would lead him into Daehyun’s heart.

Young Jae’s hands shook, but he quickly stilled them from fear of dropping his container of food. Young Jae had heard from Himchan that the easiest way to a man’s heart was with food and from what he also heard from Himchan, Daehyun was a lover of food. Young Jae had practiced night and day to learn how to cook and although it wasn’t the best, it was definitely something that was tasty enough.

He was close, oh so very close to reaching Daehyun. Just the way Daehyun looked made Young Jae want to flee from such beauty. The way the sun shone on Daehyun’s brown locks, the way it made his tan skin so much more lovelier, those plump lips curved to create the most perfect smile, and those eyes.. those eyes full of such life and happiness that smiled the way his lips did. Young Jae wanted to be one of the reasons why Daehyun lit up with happiness.

However, he was soon stopped in his tracks by one of Daehyun’s closest friends. The man stood in Young Jae’s way, eyeing Young Jae as his eyes curiously landed on the container before looking up at Young Jae. “Where are you going, Yoo Young Jae?” (BY)

“I.. I was just going to give food to Daehyun.” (YJ) Yongguk grinned in amusement, already realizing Young Jae’s intentions. He crossed his arms as he leaned on one leg, causing Young Jae to take a step back from fear.

“I don’t think Daehyun would be interested in dating someone like you.” (BY)

“I-I never said I wanted to date him! I just.. wanted to be nice and give him food.” (YJ) Yongguk quietly chuckled as he gave Daehyun a quick glance before looking back at Young Jae.

“You’re so damn obvious, Young Jae. Only girls and homo’s give food to guys they barely know and trust me, Daehyun isn’t interested in homo’s. So buzz off.” (BY) Yongguk gave Young Jae a push, causing the younger male to fall back. If it wasn’t for Himchan having finally come to the rescue, Young Jae probably would have roughly landed on the ground.

“Hey! Pick on someone your own size!” (HC) Himchan made sure Young Jae was fully on his feet before moving him off to the side. He took a step forward, furrowing his eyebrows and narrowing his eyelids as he crossed his arms. “You think you’re so damn tough. The only reason you think you’re a big shot and get to sleep with girls is because you’re friends with Daehyun!” (HC)

Yongguk scoffed a bit as he smirked. “Himchan, don’t be jealous. If you actually dumped this loser, you’d understand how it feels to sleep with so many girls. You probably don’t even get any, huh? Tch.. Too bad. Anyway, I’m done with you losers.” (BY)

Himchan balled his hands into fists, but he restrained himself from punching the brute. Himchan’s eyes looked past Yongguk, finally realizing what he meant as Yongguk turned and walked away. Daehyun was no longer at his seat, or.. anywhere to be found really. Himchan groaned as he wiped his face with his hand before turning to Young Jae. He could see the slightly look of hurt on Young Jae’s face as the younger male kept his gaze towards the ground. “Sorry Young Jae.. I should have come sooner, dammit!” (HC)

“It’s alright.. I think.. I think that he’s right though..” (YJ) Himchan stared at Young Jae with confusion. Since he had come in late, he hadn’t gotten the chance to hear what Yongguk had first said. Young Jae let out a small sigh as he crouched down, looking down at the container of food that had missed its chance to feed such a handsome being. “I think.. I won’t ever be able to get Daehyun’s attention.” (YJ)

“Don’t listen to that idiot! Just go for it! You never know, right?” (HC) Young Jae looked up at Himchan, whom had an angry, yet determined look on his face. “You have to try something! At least see if he’s interested!” (HC)

“What can I..” (YJ) Young Jae ran his mind through Yongguk’s words, keying in on one specific word that seemed to stick out the most. ‘Girl’ was that keyword and it was definitely going to be useful in coming up with an idea. “Himchan.. Do you have a wig and girl’s clothes?” (YJ)

“No.. Wait. Why?” (HC)

“Himchan.. you’re going to help me. You have to help me.. please?” (YJ) Himchan looked on with suspicion. Young Jae already knew that Himchan wouldn’t agree unless he knew exactly what the plan was so, with a small sigh Young Jae motioned for Himchan to follow before he began walking. “I’ll tell you at our dorm. Let’s go.” (YJ)

“Young Jae... that is not a good idea! What made you possibly think that kind of idea would actually work?!” (HC) Himchan paced back and forth as he tried to wrap his mind around what Young Jae could possibly be thinking. However, Young Jae was completely set on going with his plan.

“It’s a good idea! He HAS to notice me if I do that! You said so yourself that I have nice thighs and shoulders that look better than a lot of girls! Plus, you also said that I could almost rival a girl in looks! I’ve even lost weight in high school, so now I’m skinny enough!” (YJ) Himchan turned to look at Young Jae as he furrowed his eyebrows and finally came to a stop.

“You forget that you still have muscles and no s! Do you really think Daehyun would look your way if you show off your muscles and have no s?! And what are you going to do if Daehyun wants to sleep with you?! I’m pretty sure that you don’t have the equipment necessary to prove that you’re a woman!” (HC) Young Jae bit his bottom lip as he tried to think of how to answer Himchan. In all honesty, Young Jae had no other plan besides cross-dressing. At least he would be noticed even a little bit by Daehyun.. right?

“Himchan.. it’s the only way! As long as I wear long sleeves, it won’t be obvious. I just.. have to have fake s and I won’t sleep with him! If I can just feel Daehyun’s arms around me.. to feel his lips against mine, then.. then I’m fine! After that, I’ll stop. Okay? Just help me with this! Only us two will know about this!” (YJ) Himchan groaned as he turned around and ran a hand through his hair.

He didn’t like this plan whatsoever. Himchan didn’t know Daehyun personally, so he couldn’t tell what Daehyun would do the second he found out about Young Jae’s true gender. Still, he just didn’t know if he could convince Young Jae out of this idiotic plan, so.. the only thing he could do was try and make sure that Young Jae’s plan went off without any problems. “Alright. I’ll help you, but only for a few months! You know what’ll happen if things go any further..” (HC)

“It’ll be alright! I mean.. he’s never dated a girl more than a week, so.. I think a week should be fine.” (YJ) Young Jae smiled happily as he got to his feet. He was so happy that Himchan was going to help him with his plan! But he was even happier to realize that he hs a chance at feeling Daehyun finally hold him. “So.. uh.. what do we do first?” (YJ)

“First.. we have to make you look like a girl.” (HC) Young Jae had a look of confusion as he folded his arms.

“How?” (YJ) Himchan sighed as he shook his head. Young Jae was one of the smartest people he knew. Practically a perfect 4.0 and yet.. Young Jae seemed to be clueless sometimes. It was amazing really, but that was Young Jae for you.

“Dress you up, get you hair extensions, make up, fake chest, annnd... we have to make your bulge less obvious.” (HC) Since Young Jae was most likely going to have to wear , which would be very awkward to see, Himchan doubted that those would be enough to hide Young Jae’s crotch well enough in pants. Skirts? Hah! That was a BIG no-no. There was no way that they were going to put Young Jae into a skirt.

“Mm... okay. Let’s get started. Where do we begin?” (YJ) Himchan scratched the side of his head as he tried to think. They really did have a lot of things to prepare, but they were all at least doable.

“Well.. I guess we have to go shopping first. Let’s head to the nearby mall.” (HC) With a nod, Young Jae soon followed after Himchan as the older male led the way. Young Jae felt himself becoming pumped up with excitement. He didn’t even think about any of the consequences that could happen. The only thing he could think of were all of the romantic moments he could have with Daehyun. “Hey! Focus!” (HC)

Quickly, Young Jae pulled himself away from his thoughts as he looked at the back of Himchan’s head. “Huh? What is it?” (YJ)

“We have to find out what kind of girls Daehyun likes. If we do that, then we can get you closer to Daehyun a lot easier.” (HC)

“Oh.. I.. I already know what kind of girls he likes.” (YJ) How could he not? Young Jae had practically spent the majority of his free time stalking Daehyun enough just to get a glimpse of him and each time he did achieve that goal, he saw Daehyun with the girl that he was dating that week. They all had similar fashion sense, so it was easy enough.

“Alright. I’ll leave all of that to you then. Anyway.. Let's get going.” (HC)
