It had been a few days since Minah fell into a coma. Kai refused to go to school at first, but when Kris wouldn’t stop pestering him, he heaved a sigh and agreed. Minutes after entering the school, Kai began getting noticed and girls started gossiping. He still had bruises on his face and body that would take more days to heal, he thought that maybe that’s why they were staring.

He saw Mr Do jogging towards him, although it was at the same pace as walking because of his short stature.

“Ah, Jongin!” He greeted all too enthusiastically. “I’m sure the ‘event’ affected you a lot but I’m glad you came to school!”

“Ah…Yeah” Kai said, unsure of what to say. There was a moment of silence between them although the chattering in the background made it less awkward.

“So, um. Do people know about it” Kai asked in quieter tone.

Mr Do nodded. “I’m not sure how it got out but I’m guessing friends with Chanyeol and the others knew and started spreading it. Sorry Jongin-ah.” Kyungsoo said. “And…the school has decided not to suspend Hyuna and the others that were part of it because they apologized so much and they also have community work as punishment to do so…”

“Okay…” Kai said slowly. “Thanks for letting me know.”

Kai only took a step until he felt a small hand grasp his wrist. He turned around and raised his eyebrows when he saw that the hand belonged to Mr Do.

“And…um…are you okay?” Mr Do asked, his eyes wide.

Kai chuckled. “Yeah, I am. Don’t worry,” Kai replied.

“Okay... Good”

Kai smiled and continued walking.

It had only been a few minutes before a huge tower hurled itself at Kai.

“KAAAaaaaai” Kris said, his body attached to Kai’s side and his arms encircling Kai’s neck.

“Woah what happened to you,” Kai groaned, pushing away Kris’s long limbs.

“Nothing, I’m just happy you’re back,” Kris grinned.

Kai noticed there were several figures behind him, all looking at the ground. Kris followed his gaze and grinned.

“Oh and these guys,” Kris said as he pulled one beside him, “wants to apologize too.”

The unfortunate male was Baekhyun and he looked at Kai with his puppy eyes. “Sorry,” he muttered.

Kai was about to say something when another male stepped up. “I’m sorry too!” Chen yelled.

Following them, the others said their apologies too. Kris patted them all on the heads and looked at Kai happily.

“You made them do this?” Kai said.

“Yeah,” Kris said proudly, placing his hands on his hips.

Kai squinted his eyes and tried to find what Kris was so proud about. “But you could hear their sincerity right?” Kris added.

Kai nodded slowly. “Okay. I guess. You guys never did anything that wrong anyway.”

“Well we kind of talked bad about your girlfriend and kicked you out,” Sehun said blandly.

He earned a hit to the head by Xiumin.

Kai couldn’t help but smile. “I guess you could say that.”

Kris threw his arm around Kai’s shoulder and started pulling him towards their lockers. “All good?” he said.

“Yeah, all good,” Kai replied.

Kai sat at one of the tables in the cafeteria, waiting for Kris and the few others to get theirs. He was leaning his head on his hand, propped up by his elbow, picking at grains of rice. Then he noticed as Kris saw Hyuna holding an empty tray, ready to go to the end of the line. She was about to pass him when he tapped her on the shoulder and gestured in front of him. Hyuna looked at him with a confused expression. He tapped his index finger on his lips and tugged her arm to pull her in front of him. Nobody seemed to notice.

Hyuna smiled and they began talking to each other, Kai taking note of their shy expressions.

Kris finally made it to Kai’s table and placed his tray down. His expression was over the moon. Kai and Sehun stared at him blankly and Kris shifted in his seat. “What?” he said uncomfortably.

“Don’t think I missed that,” Sehun said.

“You’ve totally got something going on with her,” Kai added.

Kris cheeks turned a rosy pink. “N-no what are you talking about.”

By now everyone realized the situation and couldn’t help but laugh.

“You’re in love.” Xiumin cooed.

Baekhyun gave Kris a pat on the head, having to stretch his arms to reach.

Kai smirked. “Tell us about it.”
