Title: A Secret double life

I, Sandara Park am an independent and successful career woman. Many of my coworkers aim to be like me but little do they know about my deep dark secret. As soon as I get to the confines of my home I transform. I no longer embody a successful woman of independence. I just become plain old me. I laze on the floor during my free time in my comfiest clothes, my trainer pants to be precise. With my hair tied in a bun and my thick rimmed glasses on and a cold can of beer on hand, life can’t be anymore perfect.

I don’t go out on dates or hang out with friends unless it’s for work. Yes, the only people that I consider close enough to be my friends are Chaerin and Minzy the girls who are sittings on either sides of my desk at work. And there is Bom, my sister but we barely see each other because she moved to Japan.

Living the double life is definitely the best. I am the epitome of success at work and I have the best easy going life outside the work place. I don’t like relationships either. After my broken engagement a few years ago I think that relationships are so overrated. I send flowers to myself every Valentine’s just to get other people off my back from asking if I’m in a relationship. My sister even called me himono onna in one of our phone conversations. I looked up the meaning and well damn those Japanese for having a name for everything.

 I think life is a lot better this way until I met my boss. Well I didn’t know who he was until the next day when I came to work. But it was the start of the year and he sort of rocked my world a little bit when we first met. I was in my lazy clothes on my way back home from the nearby convenience store after buying fresh supply of beer and ramyun. I was all excited to get home to watch my favorite show when I literally bumped into my destiny. I was ready to give a piece of my mind for almost getting hurt when I looked up at the stranger’s face and I suddenly felt my knees weaken. His ruffled black hair was in perfect disarray. His eyes of dark chocolate were like pools I could drown myself into. His lips looked so luscious I unintentionally my own. And his facial features were sharp and so defined. I was in a daze, a beautiful and mesmerizing daze. And before I was about to go face to face with the pavement a pair of strong arms caught me and helped me up.

“Are you alright, miss,” he asked in his deep y voice. He made sure I was standing properly before he let go of my arms. I immediately missed the sensation of his touch. His presence strangely heightened my senses. I said I was ok and just like our chance encounter he left.

I kept berating myself for walking around like a slob when Mr. Gorgeous decided to come into my life. Maybe it was life’s little joke or blessing I’m not really sure but the next morning when I opened my window to stare blankly at the backyard garden of my home like I often do I was startled to see a vision of that handsome being I came across that night. He was right across the low fense
