A/N: italicized conversation is a mini flashback...

After finishing his first exam of the week, Sehun left his writing classroom and headed down the hallway to meet with Luhan before lunch. The two boys had spent most of last night cuddling; enjoying each other’s company after their dinner with Sehun’s parents, and Sehun already missed him. Luhan was so happy with how dinner went that he hadn’t stopped smiling all night and Sehun wanted to see that smile as often as he can.

As Sehun casually leaned against the wall outside of Luhan’s classroom, he took out his phone and began typing a message to his boyfriend, but was interrupted when he heard someone call his name from down the hall.

“Sehun! What a surprise…”

Looking up at whoever was speaking to him, Sehun was startled when he saw non other than Taecyeon walking towards him. ‘…’ thought Sehun, slowly putting his phone away and preparing to ignore the boy only a few feet away from him.

“Thought you could just ignore me, huh?” spat Taecyeon, forcing Sehun harder against the wall with a shove.

Taking a deep breath, Sehun willed himself to relax. He clenched his fists in frustration knowing that he can’t hit the boy whose hand was uncomfortably digging into his shoulder since he had already promised Luhan he wouldn’t get in any fights. Swallowing his pride, Sehun just kept his head down and waited for whatever Taecyeon had planned.

“You can’t simply avoid me…” said Taecyeon, tightening his grip on Sehun.

Raising his head to look at the boy, Sehun asked, “What do you want?”

“Honestly, I want you to break up with Luhan…he shouldn’t be dating such a loser. And Luhan may say that he loves you, but there’s no way he actually means it.”

Hearing Taecyeon say that Luhan doesn’t really love him pushed Sehun to the breaking point. Luhan does love him and there’s no way Sehun is going to let this guy get away with saying otherwise. Bringing his hand up to grab the boy’s arm, Sehun was about start something he would later regret. Forcing Taecyeon’s hand off of him, Sehun shoved him forward, ready to end this ongoing harassment.

Surprised that Sehun had the guts to fight back, Taecyeon could only smirk. He knew just as well as the next person that Luhan was head over heels in love with Sehun, but he’s wanted this for too long (Sehun in front him and ready to throw a few punches), so he needed to say something to get the other boy angry.

As Sehun stood there waiting for Taecyeon to make the first move, he heard the door to Luhan’s classroom open.

‘No…’ thought Sehun, lowering his arms as he glanced to his left were he found Luhan stepping out of his class; eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he looked back and forth between his boyfriend and Taecyeon.

With Sehun looking in the other direction, the senior took his chance. He was either unaware of Luhan’s presence or simply didn’t care, but Taecyeon reeled back his arm and didn’t think twice before hitting Sehun as hard as he could.

His punch had landed right on Sehun’s jaw, splitting the boy’s lip as the sound echoed through the hallway.

“Sehun!” screamed Luhan, eyes going wide in alarm as he noticed the blood running down his boyfriends chin.

Stumbling due to the force of Taecyeon’s hit, Sehun found himself being gently caught by Luhan, who kept him standing.

Having heard the yelling from the hallway, Luhan’s professor came outside to see what was going on and when he saw Taecyeon with a raised fist and Sehun being pulled to the infirmary by Luhan, he had a pretty good idea of what happened. Calmly telling his students to finish their exam, the professor took Taecyeon by the arm and personally led him to the dean’s office.

“Well lucky for you, it’s not that bad. Your jaw may be sore for a while, but your lip should be fully healed in about a week.” said the nurse, throwing away the last ball of cotton as she went to freezer for an ice pack.

While Sehun waited for the nurse to come back, he stayed completely silent. Luhan was looking at him in a way that made Sehun’s heart ache. The smaller boy had a look of worry, fear and slight anger written on his face and seeing him like this had Sehun wanting to tell the boy he loves him and that he’s sorry.

Luhan had kept quiet in fear that he would start crying if he opened his mouth to say anything. He had just witnessed Taecyeon punching his boyfriend, and honestly, it was a bit traumatizing. And Luhan’s not assuming that Sehun had started the fight, but the boy looked somewhat guilty when he saw Luhan step through the classroom door.

After the nurse had given Sehun the ice pack, she sent the boys off.

Walking hand in hand to Sehun and Chanyeol’s room, the two boys didn’t say a word. Sehun kept his head down the entire walk back to his room, doing his best not to glance at the boy next to him. Luhan had looked as if he was on the verge of tears when they left the infirmary, and Sehun was afraid to say anything. He wasn’t ready to see Luhan cry again. Not yet.

Unlocking the door to his room, Sehun made his way inside. He had expected the smaller boy to follow him, but to Sehun’s surprise, Luhan was still standing in the doorway while avoiding his gaze. Sighing in defeat, Sehun held his hand out for Luhan to take and slowly pulled the boy inside before closing the door.

Sitting on the bed and guiding Luhan to do the same, Sehun brought his hand to the smaller boys chin and lifted his head to clearly see Luhan’s face, something he immediately regretted. Luhan had tears in his eyes and he was biting his lip as if to suppress a sob.

“Luhan…” said Sehun in a quiet voice, feeling his own eyes beginning to water.

Hearing Sehun say his name is such broken voice, Luhan let the tears flow and began crying as Sehun wrapped his arms around the boy’s shaking figure, pulling Luhan onto his lap and holding him close.

“Sehun-ah…w-what happened?” asked Luhan in a trembling voice, still clinging to Sehun as he tried to calm himself.

Blinking away his tears, Sehun took a deep breath. He hated seeing Luhan so vulnerable and it was difficult for him to keep his cool, but Sehun made sure not to cry in front of the boy.

“I-I didn’t start it…”

“That’s not what I asked, Sehun-ah.”

“Taecyeon just…said something and I couldn’t stop myself.” admitted Sehun, lowering his arms as he felt Luhan pull away.

“What did you promise me?” asked Luhan, his eyes red and cheeks flushed.

“Luhan…”

“What did you promise me?”

“Not to get into fights, but he—”

“What if it got out of hand, Sehun…I was scared! You could’ve gotten really hurt. You’re lucky you didn’t lose a tooth!” exclaimed Luhan, getting himself worked up again as another tear ran down his cheek.

“I know! I’m really lucky, but Luhan…you should understand that sometimes fights are necessary.”

“And what could Taecyeon have said that made it so necessary?”

“He said that you don’t really love me!”

“Sehun-ah—”

“It pissed me off! And it’s not just that, Luhan. It’s been building up. He made you cry not too long ago and I hate him for that. And he was the one who found me looking for trouble! It’s not like I wanted this to happen…” explained Sehun, realizing that he had grabbed Luhan’s hand during his rant.

“I-I…”

“I love you, Luhan. And I’m not going to put up with people who try to tear us apart.”

Bringing his hands up to wrap around Sehun’s neck, Luhan rested his head on the boys shoulder, willing away the tears that continued to fall.

The taller boy could feel his shirt begin to dampen and he sighed in defeat. There’s nothing more he can say, so being there for Luhan was all Sehun could do at this point.

After finally calming down thanks to Sehun’s embrace, Luhan shyly peered up at the boy before leaning up to give him a gentle kiss on the cheek. He understands why Sehun couldn’t hold himself back, but it hurt to know that someone had pushed his boyfriend to that point.

“I’m sorry…” said Sehun, tightening his hold around Luhan’s waist.

Pulling away to look at Sehun, the smaller boy shook his head, “No…don’t be.”

“Luhan, I couldn’t keep my promise and—”

“It’s okay. I know this wasn’t your fault.”

Relieved that Luhan understands, Sehun couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “God, you’re too perfect.”

Smiling as he wiped his eyes, Luhan could feel his heart flutter. After what just happened, Luhan realized how much he cares for Sehun. He was so worried that the boy had gotten hurt and Luhan couldn’t help but think that he’s really never felt this way before. Being in love is an amazing feeling, but it can be scary at the same time. Luhan knows that Sehun would do anything for him and he’s happy for that, but it’s times like this that make Luhan nervous. He doesn’t want Sehun getting in trouble because of him…

“Sehun-ah…even though I understand why you got so upset, that doesn’t mean I want you getting into trouble. Please don’t make me worry anymore.”

“I know. And you can trust me when I say that this won’t happen again. I feel awful for getting you upset and I’m sorry.”

“Thank you.” said Luhan, giving Sehun another kiss on the cheek.

“I hate that I can’t kiss you right now…” admitted Sehun, looking up at Luhan with a small pout.

“Are you sure you can survive a week without kissing me?”

“Don’t say that! It’s making me sad just thinking about it…”

Laughing in response to Sehun’s whining, Luhan was surprised to hear both his and Sehun’s stomachs growl.

“Oh yeah…we never went to lunch.” said Sehun, now aware of his hunger.

“I’ll go and get us something. You just stay here and keep icing your lip.” said Luhan, making his way off the bed before grabbing his coat.

“Are you sure? I could come with you…”

“Sehun-ah, you’re hurt. Stay here and rest. I’ll be back soon.”

“At least let me give you some money...” offered Sehun, but Luhan was already out the door.

While Luhan was walking down the hallways, trying to remember his and Sehun’s order at the nearby Chinese restaurant, his mind began to wander. He was glad that Sehun was okay, but knowing that Taecyeon was the one who hit him didn’t sit right with Luhan. ‘I wonder if he was sent to the dean’s office…’ thought the boy, deciding to make a quick detour before leaving campus.

As Luhan peeked around the corner to eye the dean’s office, he could clearly see Taecyeon sitting outside the room with his head in his hands and Luhan was thankful that no one was around.

Taking a deep breath to gather his courage, Luhan made his way towards the boy.

Upon hearing footsteps, Taecyeon looked up. He was expecting the president of the school or someone of authority, but he was surprised (and a bit nervous) when he saw Luhan, the boyfriend of the guy he just punched.

“Hey…” greeted Luhan, standing a few steps away from the taller boy.

“Hi.” responded Taecyeon, guilt finally beginning to surface. He could tell that Luhan was acting a bit cautious around him and Taecyeon felt like punching himself for that reason alone.

“I-I just wanted to know why.” said Luhan, looking down at the boy sitting in front of him.

Laughing in amusement to Luhan’s expected reason for visiting him, Taecyeon ran a hand through his hair.

“Right…of course you’d want to know.” said Taecyeon, looking at Luhan before starting his explanation.

“Last year, I was dating this girl who I really liked and things were going well until out of nowhere, she broke up with me.” began Taecyeon.

“You’re breaking up with me? But…why?”

“I like someone else now.”

“Are you ing with me?”

“His name is Sehun. He’s really nice and…I-I’ve already slept with him.”

“She had assumed that Sehun and her were dating, but it was only after he ed her when she discovered that Sehun had a reputation and never dated any of the girls he slept with. I hated the girl for cheating on me, but I couldn’t help but feel bad for her and all the other girls that Sehun had given false hope to. I mean, why should he be in happy relationship when all of these girls were left alone? It’s always bothered me and with Sehun standing right there, I wasn’t going to stop myself. It just got to the point where I needed to do something…” explained Taecyeon.

After quietly listening, Luhan took a step closer to the boy before saying, “I’m sorry that Sehun caused your relationship to end…and I’m sure that he didn’t know that girl was with you.”

A bit shocked that Luhan was apologizing, Taecyeon was at a loss for words. Taecyeon was the one who has caused more pain for Luhan today than anyone else, and here he was saying that he’s sorry.

“Uhh…thanks.” said Taecyeon, unsure of what to say as Luhan turned around and continued walking down the hall.

As the boy made his way off campus and towards the restaurant down the street, he couldn’t help but smile. Sure, he could’ve told Taecyeon how punching Sehun was unnecessary and that he was pissed beyond belief, but instead, Luhan kept it mature. There would have been no use in telling Taecyeon everything he did wrong when the boy was already in trouble and certain thoughts should be kept to oneself. The only reason Luhan wanted to see Taecyeon was to learn why he hit Sehun and that was it. He refrained from being angry and mean and Luhan was proud of that. So proud, that he decided to order an extra side dish for his and Sehun’s lunch.

After picking up the food, Luhan was back in Sehun’s room, giving the boy a kiss on the cheek before handing him a pair of chopsticks.

“It took you longer than usual…I was beginning to worry that something happened.” said Sehun, looking up at Luhan as he divided their food.

“Really? I thought I was right on time.”

“Whatever. At least you’re okay.”

Smiling at Sehun’s response, Luhan carefully fed the boy a dumpling, making sure that the cut on his lip was avoided.
