Chapter 14

For A Hundred Days

You carefully laid yourself back onto the hospital bed, while your hands
wipe those tears that had just fallen from your eyes. You were so
careful  in everything you do, not wanting to wake him up as you knew he came from work and had set aside a lot of things to be
with you.

He is that caring.

And for you, he’d be even more.

You slowly turned around, facing the other side of the bed. You stare
blankly at the window, as  sunlight slowly appeared, and hit the
window pane and the floor. Your eyes slightly move up and saw the blue sky. It never caught your attention, even before. But its blue
color made you look at it for a while. It was never that beautiful for
you.

“Another day starts again…”, you whispered after taking a deep breath.

New day.

New Beginning.

You slowly open your eyes, and it was just then you realized you had
fallen asleep. Your room was so bright, as the curtains were opened.
The sun had finally risen.

You remembered TaeYang who was beside you, sleeping. You know
he had a lot of things to do today. As a celebrity, it seems as if he
didn’t have time to rest anymore. And everyday, he’d have loads of stuff
to do.

You slowly look back, thinking he was still there fast asleep, but
instead of seeing him …

A single red tulip tied with a pink ribbon lay at the side of your bed

but he was no where to be seen…

Few days later.

It’s almost 5 days after you had been discharged from the hospital.
And yes, everything is back to normal. You went back to your business,
but now with the help of your younger sister. After your parents knew
what happened, they asked your sister to help you and to make sure you
took care of yourself.

Your college friends also helped you out. Every time they
were free from their own work, they would visit you and ask if there was anything they could do.
For a while, all this things made you smile and feel slightly relieved.
But there was just one thing that bothered you.

You haven’t seen anyone of them after you have been out from the
hospital, including TaeYang. SeungRi is also quiet these past few
days, no messages, no phone calls, no one bugging you everyday at work.

Nothing.

You wanted to call anyone of them, but you’d stop yourself, thinking, ‘who are you to ask for attention from them?’ You thought they were just busy with all
their work.

But there  was something really different.

A few more days passed, and still no word from them. You
guessed that there was work that needed more attention and you couldn’t do anything about it.

Added to that, little, little things started occuring, making you more confused.

It was a rainy evening, and you were still in your restaurant, fixing
some papers, checking if everything  was organized and clean.

It was already 11 at night, and you were all alone in your
office. Your phone rang, and you saw it was your sister calling, asking you to go home as it was already late. You told her you
were already on your way home and she had nothing to worry about. You rushed
out of the restaurant, and noticed it was raining really heavily. As you locked the restaurant’s wooden doors, your phone rang
again, this time, it was your mother calling, checking if you had already
gotten home. You decided not to answer since you knew if you told her
you weren’t home yet, she would get mad at you.

The ringing stopped. You then opened your bag to look for your umbrella.

“Omo. Where is it? Please, please. I hope it’s here.”, you said to
yourself,  anxiously.

You searched every pocket of your bag,but no sign of your umbrella.
You then remembered your sister borrowing it earlier when she left
you in the restaurant.

“Why this time?”, you asked yourself, standing outside the restaurant. You
decided to wait for the rain to stop, but it looked like it didn’t have any plans on stopping.

A tall old man passed by,looking at you with a smile on his
face. He was wearing a white shirt, and a blue pants. You noticed he
has two umbrellas with him; a white umbrella in his left hand,
and a black umbrella which he was using.

He walked towards you and stood in front of you, staring at you for a while. His actions caused you to feel confused and uncertained, you took a step back
thinking he might do something unexpected. You were about to run away,
when he spoke up…

“He asked me to bring this to you…”, he said, as he hands you the white
umbrella he was holding.

“Who are you talking about sir? I mean, it must be a mistake. You don’t
know me, well, we don’t know each other, why are you giving this to
me?” you asked, as your hands slowly accepted the umbrella he was
holding. You felt more confused, asking yourself who might be
this person he was talking about.

“He said that he knew you would forget to bring an umbrella like you
always do, so he asked me to bring this to you…”, he continued,
smiling.
“I don’t understand it sir, I don’t know…”, you said , but he
suddenly spoke words that stopped you from talking.

“He said he wanted to protect you from everything that will come your way…
And as soon as everything is fine, he’ll always be.”, he said, then
turned around and walked away from you.

“Sir!”, you said, calling the man who gave you the umbrella. But he
walks away as if he didn’t hear anything you said.

It wasn’t the first time someone you didn’t know acted like that unexpectedly.

It was a hot afternoon, and your restaurant is full of customers. It
was surprising as it was a Sunday, and you only expected this number of
customers on weekdays since your restaurant is near big offices.
As mostof your staffs didn’t come into work every Sunday, you decided to help them, especially in the kitchen.

You were with your head chef, helping with the cooking. You haven’t been in the kitchen for almost a month since you had started putting your focus on fixing the new branch of your restaurant that will open soon.

Having not been in the kitchen for so long, you felt a sense of pressure, you started to feel conscious about the food you were cooking, and fear crept in since you don’t know if the customers would appreciate what you have prepared.

Your first masterpiece came out and went to one of the tables. You
went out to check if the customer liked it or not. You stood a few steps away from them, anxious. A lot of things entered your mind, bombarding you with negative thoughts.

One of then customers approached you. As she stood near
you, you found that she  wasn’t that tall, and  was about your age. You didn’t notice her at first, as your eyes were focused on the customer who
was eating what you had prepared.

“Why are you so nervous?” she asked, smiling at you.

You looked back, took a deep breath and pretended to smile, but
your eyes conveyed how anxious you are.

“He asked me to give this to you…”, she said, as she handed over a handkerchief.

Your eyes moved down, looking at the blue handkerchief she was
holding, then quickly looked back at her in confusion.
“Who are you talking about? I mean, who is this person who asked you
to give this to me?”, you asked in confusion.

“Just take it…”, she said, as she held your other hand placing the
handkerchief in it.

“…he told me that he wanted to make you feel comfortable and at ease
all the time. He said that he wanted to wipe away every single thing
that will make you sad or anxious,” she said.

“Miss, I still don’t understand. May be you have approached the wrong
person,” you said, handing her back the handkerchief.

“No dear, I did not. He made sure you are the one I’d talk to, as he
made sure of himself you are the one he was looking for.”, she said,
giving you back the handkerchief, then walked out of the restaurant in
a rush.

You tried to catch the lady, but one of the waiters stopped you from
walking away.
“Miss __________,” he said, holding your hand, preventing you from going out.
“Yes?” you answered, while still looking at the door, as you planned to
follow the lady.
“The customer said it’s one of the best dishes served, and he’ll
recommend it to his friends.” he said.

You slowly looked back at him, and smiled. You felt a sense of relief
after hearing this.
“Well, let’s serve them some more,” you said, smiling. You then look
back at the door, still in confusion. Though you felt slightly relieved after hearing what the waiter said, these things that have been happening was making you puzzled.

Another similar incident happened, in a place where you didn’t expect it
to take place.

You and your sister decided to take a walk in the park after a long
day at work, as you both haven’t had a proper conversation for a long time (since she’s away from you, and it’s only now that you have the chance to be with her.) She was on her way to the park, when you sent her a message saying that you were already there waiting for her. She replied almost immediately apologising for being slightly late. But you took it in a positive way, since it’s only now that she values her work so much.

You decided to walk around a little while waiting for her. You remembered the place where TaeYang use to wait for you before going to school way back when you were still in high school, The Red Garden was what you call it. It was the spacious waiting area, at the side of a man-made lake. You remembered how he would sits there for quite a while waiting for you, so you could go to school
together. And the last time, you remembered being there, was the time
he was missing and you found him there soaked in the rain, standing at the same spot where sit and waits for you.

He crossed your mind again.

“What could he be doing now?” you said to yourself. You still
haven’t seen them, until that day.

After a few minutes of walking, you reached the place. You look
at its sturdy structure, its newly painted posts, and the red roses
that surround the area catching everyone’s attention.

You were enjoying staring at it, until someone then held your bag and
pulled it a little. You turned to see who it was, and saw a little boy
holding an ice cream.

“Hi there!” you said as you bent down a little.

He hands over his ice cream to you, and to your surprise it was the
same ice cream, you always bought during high school.
“Oh! No dear, it’s yours. Why are you giving that to me?”, you said,
tapping his head a little.
“No, it’s really for you. A handsome man, asked me to give this to
you…”, he said, smiling.
“Really? Then, who is this man you say that is handsome?”, you
asked, pinching his cheeks

The little boy just smiled, and like an adult, his words struck your heart.
“He told me, that he wants to go back to the past too…”, he said, as
he held your hand
“He said, that he wants to change all the decisions that he made…
…that he wants to make you happy again, like he used to.”, he said,
handing over the ice cream.

Your hand gently reached for the ice cream he was holding, as the
little boy smiled at you brightly.

“He also said that if you already miss him…
He misses you even more.”, he ended, and looked back, as his mom was a
few steps away from you, smiling at waving her hands to him.

You’re such an adorable young man, can I have kiss on the cheek?”, you asked
“I’m afraid I can’t, he might get angry.”, he said cheekily as he waved good
bye, and ran straight to his mom

You then stood straight, holding the ice cream. You looked around to
check if the person who gave this to you was still there, but you didn’t see nor suspect around you.

You smiled as you started to eat the ice cream, the little boy just gave

The ice cream TaeYang would always buy for you before you go home.

A smile unexpectedly spread across your face, as you continue to walk a little before stopping. You were now standing on the spot where TaeYang would always wait for you during high school.

“I miss you even more…”, you said to yourself, smiling.

Although you still weren’t sure who this person they all were talking about is,

But your heart seemed to know; there was only one person  who’d be the reason it was beating like this.
