CHAPTER 8: THE DOWNFALL OF YAMAA TOMOHISA

“Hello, Yamaa Tomohisa san.” Horikita Maki greeted him with her dark looks.

Yamapi startled and shock could be seen from his face. His eyes shifted from the witch toward

Toda Erika, and the woman was looking nervously than ever. Somehow, he felt something wrong was

going to happen later. Even, the situation that he faced right now was almost like a dejavu, as if he used

to see this. But, where?

“May I know what are you doing here, Horikita san?” Aoki Kengo broke the silence between them.

Yamapi’s jaw tightened as he looked at the files that Toda held within her hands. It was the same files last time. Horikita Maki just glared at Kengo.

“It is none of your business, Aoki san.” She snarled at him. The man just smirked and chuckled.

“Not my business you said? This is my best friend’s office!! You do…”

“Can you just do not meddle on my business, Aoki san? Your hypocrisy almost makes me want to

vomit!!!” Maki cut his words. At that moment, his face was flushed with the woman sudden words.

Gritting his teeth, he started to retort back. But Maki just laughed and talked back at him before he

could do so.

“ I don’t know how everyone considered you as the good man, when you are the worst of all!!!!” She

snarled even more.

Aoki clenched his hands and wanted to slap on the witch’s face. His eyes darted around the

office and found out that people whispered while looking at him. This made anger fumed strongly than

ever within himself. But, he tried to calm down, afraid that his true self would be reveal in front of

Yamapi and other people. Maki shook her head and lifted her gaze toward Yamapi, trying to bring her focus back to work.

“I need to see you, Yamaa san.” Maki said sternly. Her anger was already the surface and Aoki

Kengo’s teasing managed to raise her anger even more.

“What is it, Horikita san?” the owner of dark eyes fixed on him as both of his hands were put inside his

pockets, making him looked relaxed than ever. But, Maki knew the man was too nervous and he hid it

very well.

““It is better if we could talk in private.” She said firmly. But a laugh broke from the man who stood next

to Yamapi.

“Gosh. Horikita san!!! Why do you want to see him in private when you can talk here, right everyone?

This department did does not keep secrets from each other. Just talk here!!” Aoki butted in.

Yamapi looked at Kengo who mocked on the witch. It was unusual to see Kengo act

that way.It was also the first time for him to see that the man hated the witch. Furthermore, what he said was true. Why Horikita Maki, the company’s financial executive needed to see him in private when she could talk about it in front of everyone.Unless…..Somehow, his heart beat faster than usual. The last week event replayed back once again inside his mind; when Kojima ran amuk inside his office due to the witch. Horikita Maki already knew Kengo’s intention by mocking her earlier. Ignoring him, her eyes kept fixing on the owner of the bunny eyes. The man still looked clueless.

“I don’t think it is appropriate for me to talk about it with you here….”She said as she looked at the man.

Yamapi bit his lower lips and after a while, he cleared his throat. He glanced toward Kengo and the man gave him signal with his eyes, as if he was asking him to just follow what he had started.

“I think it is better you say it here, in front of everyone. There’s nothing to be secretive about, Horikita san.” Maki stared at the man upon hearing his reply. Behind those spectacles, he could feel the pierce of her eyes on him and how just looking at them stunned him. He knew immediately the witch was mad. She really did not like his answer at all.

“You want me to talk about it in front of everyone, Yamaa san?” Her question was sharp and she was

mad that man was stupid enough to agree with his ‘best friend’ after all. Yamapi just nodded fast, and

found out that at the corner of her eye twitched a bit. Without a doubt she was angry. Even though her face was calm, but he could feel her true feelings through those eyes. Yamapi felt it was strange enough for him to know about that.

“Yamaa san…..it is not about everyone that I want to talk about. But, It is about you.” She stressed

on the last words, making the room filled with gasps and whispers instantly. Yamapi tried to remain

calm but his heart nearly wanted to leap out of his chest due to nervousness within him. Maki added

some more as her hands reached the files on Toda Erika’ hands.

“Plus, what I want to talk was not something simple and easy, but rather on a heavy issue due to the

mistakes that you have made Yamaa san; something that related to the company.” Maki said while

starting to look on her files. Swallowing his saliva, Yamapi’s eyes never lifted from the woman’s face.

“Mi…mistakes? What…wh..” Before Yamapi could talked even further, Maki cut in his words. She would

rather do it fast.

“For me, I would rather do it privately with you, so that….your reputation as the worker here would still

be….pleasant for everyone before you leave this company. But, since you insisted on not being secretive

with everyone, so it was better I talked with you here, finishing here.” At her words made the all people inside the office started to talk and never stopped whispering.

Toda Erika just closed her eyes, knowing what will come later. Even Masami too was shocked hearing it. Her eyes instantly moved toward Kengo, who just looked calm. She could notice

that the man really enjoyed the moment. Don’t say….. Both of her hands flew toward .

“I….I don’t get what you are saying, Horikita san.” Yamapi asked the woman, folding both of his arms across his chest.

“Really? You don’t get what I told you or…..you pretended to not know about it?” she mocked him with cynical words. His face became even weirder with the woman’s statement. Before Yamapi could retort back, the woman walked toward Erika, grabbed the files before went to the nearest table and spread all the files on it. Turning around while holding a pen, she looked at him.

“Come here, Yamaa san.” She instructed. Yamapi heaved a deep sigh. Glancing at Toda Erika, the

woman ran her eyes to somewhere else and he could sense it that she felt really bad for him. Gulping

nervously, he started to walk toward Horikita Maki and stood next to her. Extending her hands, she

showed him the pen. He eyed with quizzical look.

“Can you please sign on this blank paper, Yamaa san.” His eyes widened when he heard the woman’s

instruction.

“Why do I have to sign? This…. “

“Just do it!!!” her anger burst instantly and he could sense it.

Even, her eyes became colder and she gave him with a dark look. At that moment, he could feel

how cold the woman and scary she is just like what they always said. Looking at that paper,

Yamapi bit his lower lips before his hand signed on it. Horikita Maki too, looked at it intently at his

signature and there was no expression on her face. Damn! She cursed inside her because what Erika

had said was true after all. It was same. The signatures were same. Unknowingly, her hands turned into a tight clutch.

“I’ve signed already. Now, can you tell me why you ask me to sign this?”He asked at the woman who

started to lift her brown gaze toward him.

Yet the woman did not reply and just stared at the man for a long time leaving silence between two of them. Everyone was feeling weird and the room filled once again with gasps and murmurs. Yamapi tightened his jaw at the woman’s long cold stare. His heart started to pound as he nervously waited for her to speak. Unable to wait any longer, he talked once again.

“Horikita san!! I don’t have free time like you!! So… please…”

“You are fired, Yamaa san.” Maki said calmly on his face. In horror, Yamapi was stunned more than ever, it was as if the world had stopped spinning, his heart felt  like it stopped beating.

“What do you mean Yamaa san is fired!!!” One of the workers came in front and looked at Horikita
