I'll look after her
If I Could Change Time... (Side story: SooSica)
Their curiosity led the couple towards the wailing coming from outside. As if an attractive force is pulling them, they opened the door to find out the source of the gentle cry. They found themselves facing a familiar back when they entered the living room. The grandma was gently rocking her body while humming a nursery rhyme everyone has heard while they were kids. Slowly but surely the crying died down, while the chirping sounds from the birds became obvious again.
"Umm grandma?" Sooyoung called out to the old lady.
"Who is that?" Jessica followed through before Sooyoung had the chance to ask.
The couple went around the old lady and for the first time they met the gentle angel like infant. The girl looked so blessed in the arms of the old lady. A smile formed and the image of a crying baby was gone.
"Meet Mi Young." The grandma smiled while looking down at her pride and joy.
"Kyaa so cute~" Jessica took little time to get down to look at the baby while her gentle baby hair.
"Who is she?" Sooyoung remained standing.
"My granddaughter. " the old lady answered without looking up.
Sooyoung sat down on the floor alongside the grandma and Jessica. She remained silent for a bit with a pondering look on her face. She didn't know if it would be an appropriate question to ask but eventually she let her curiosity get the better of her.
"Grandma, where are her parents?" The words left the girl's mouth.
"... gone." The old lady spoke after a few moments.
While the old lady was composing herself, Sooyoung and Jessica knew better not to probe any further. Despite that the grandma spoke afterwards and explained how Mi Young's parents had left her behind.
" I do not hate them for what they have done but I wished that stormy night could have been different. I know it's hard to raise a child but I wished that they would have taken responsibility. I still remember the two shadowy figures walking away from this very cottage leaving the cradle at the doorsteps." tears fell as the old lady thought back to that emotional night, remembering her loss at what to do.
Sooyoung and Jessica understood the pain. How did an old lady feed the baby, and with that they knew that grandma had went through a really hard time. Their hearts soured at the thought of the pain the old lady went though. They silently prayed that she would get a better life.
"Grandma!" Jessica's voice surprised everyone.
"I'll be the umma and Sooyoung will be the appa." Jessica showed a determined look.
The grandma smiled while looking at the couple. Sooyoung walked beside Jessica and hugged her round her shoulders.
"We'll all look after her together." She beamed.
