HANKYUNG POV:
I looked longingly at my phone.
My new phone.
The one without Heechul's number.
My grip tightened on it. I had never felt so torn in my life. I wanted to call him, to see him, and apologize. I wanted to let him know that I still cared for my Korean brothers, that I did not abandon them. I longed to be alongside them again, to perform onstage with them...
To be Super Junior.
Each and every member knew that Super Junior was not Super Junior even with just one member missing. It wasn't the same. There were fifteen members. Not nine, not thirteen, not fourteen...
But fifteen.
Henry and Zhou Mi were included, whether people liked it or not. We had gladly welcomed them to our family and stood by them as they worked to make names for themselves in the band. I thought back to the "Only Thirteen" controversy, when the fans had protested about the new additions. The two of them had come a long way, having endured all of the hateful comments and rude gestures of the opposing fans both onstage and offstage for so long, but managing to stay strong. I was proud of them. Rumors had spread that Super Junior-M was preparing for a comeback... How I longed to join them...
But I couldn't.
I looked at the little heart-shaped charm hanging off the end of my phone; Jiang Kai Tong and I both had one identical to the other. "It symbolizes our profound love for each other" she had told me. I watched it sway in my hand with a bitter smile.
"I'm sorry..." I said and stood up. "I won't forgive myself if you get hurt, Heenim..."
I felt so helpless.
LEETEUK POV:
"Are you sure you okay?" I asked Mei Ling, handing her a bottle of water. She stubbornly nodded, taking a large gulp.
"What happen?" Heechul asked, attempting to show some concern. I knew that he was trying to leave everything in the past, but I could tell that he still wasn't too fond of her.
"...I remembered something..." she replied softly.
"Remember something? A memory?" Siwon asked and she answered with a small nod.
"...Yes...Hyun-woo-shi said that it wouldn't hurt if I started regaining my memories...He lied," Mei Ling mumbled.
"No worry," Kangin tried to reassure her. "It not be so bad after... Hope so..." Mei Ling chuckled slightly at his English.
"Can we keep going?" she asked, turning her eyes towards me.
"You sure? Can go home rest. You feel not good," I said, unsure if it would be a good idea.
"Don't worry, I am fine. I don't feel dizzy. I don't feel sick. Nothing," she protested, pouting slightly. I sighed.
"Ok, but you feel not good we go home, araso?" I said. She nodded and Kangin helped her up from the bench.
As we continued our little excursion, I couldn't help but worry. It seemed that Mei Ling had somehow wedged her way into my heart. Not an attraction, but in a brotherly kind of way. I worried for her and wanted to protect her like she was my own little sister. I wondered if the other members, save Heechul, felt the same way. As a matter of fact, I couldn't help but feel disappointed in Heechul for treating her with such hostility for so long.
I looked up and saw her stop at a window. I glanced in the direction of here gaze and saw that it was a music store, displaying all sorts of instruments. I smiled.
"You want go in?" I asked, opening the door. We all filed inside one by one.
"Whoa..." Mei Ling gasped. There were instruments everywhere, resting against stands, sitting in glass cases, even hanging from the ceiling. I smiled and let my dongsaengs roam around. We were at home. My gaze ghosted over a grand piano in the corner and I made my way over to it. The wood was sleek and black; a magical gloss shimmered over every inch of the formation as though it came from a land of fantasy. And in my eyes, it did. I pushed back the cover and traced my fingers over the keys, letting them settle on a chord before pressing down lightly. A rich, melodious sound echoed throughout the store, ringing like the hallelujah chorus itself. I was surprised when it was joined by a high, pure note that sang to my ears. The note changed in a slow and beautiful melody, casting sparkles over the echo of the chord I played. It was the enchanting sound of a flute.
i looked up to see who was playing the sweet music and my eyes widened.
"Mei Ling-ah?"
