Chapter 9 Continued (Again)
Broken, Unbroken [Hiatus]MEI LING POV:
I was cold; I was wet; and I was lost. People would normally say that all the buildings looked the same, but they weren't. That was the problem. They were all completely different and I couldn't recognize anything. The people didn't help either; they were just minding their own business, trying to get out of the rain. Normally, I liked the rain, but this was ridiculous; I was soaked to the bone. I stopped for a break, leaning against the wall of a building.
Suddenly, a middle-aged man approached me with a lust-filled look on his face (did I mention he was also completely drunk?).
"Hi ~ girl ~ How ~ ?" I only caught a few words he said, but judging from his invasion of my personal bubble, I understood what he wanted...and there was no way in the freaking world I was going to give it to him.
"NO!! off!!" I yelled and collided my fist with his face while at the same time, driving my foot in a deep kick to his abdomen. The man doubled over in pain and I took off. Sick bastard... I thought back to how I defended myself. My body just moved on its own, knowing where and when to hit. Vague scenes flashed briefly in my mind. A tall man in a white dobok and black belt holding a thick kick shield before me... The same man holding out two wooden boards back to back... A fight with another teenager with a red belt... A different man with the same uniform as the first handing me my own black belt...
Damn, somehow, I knew martial arts...
I cursed at the returning memory.
"You couldn't have come sooner..." I grumbled, tearing down the busy streets. At least it didn't tear my head apart in its return... I regretted leaving the dorm, but there was nothing I could do about it now. Besides, Heechul wanted me gone... I slowed to a walk, bumping into people as my attention wandered elsewhere, back to our conversation. Hankyung had been Heechul's first friend... No wonder his departure from the group had such an impact on Heechul... For some reason, I knew how he felt... I couldn't recall any memories, but something inside of me understood his feelings.
"Hey!! ~ you going!!" someone said angrily as I ran into him. I glared daggers into the young man and he ran away.
I stopped and looked up at the thundering sky.
"You ~ mess ~ my life ~ Super Junior ~ life!" Heechul's words echoed in my head, reminding me of the burden I had placed on them all. "I ~ you leave ~ soon as possible!! ~ never welcome ~ here again!!" I shook my head; I had to get away from here... I wasn't welcome at the dorms anymore... but was I ever...? I broke into another run.
HEECHUL POV:
An impatient rapping sounded on the door. I raced over to it and wrenched the door open; Leeteuk and the other members streamed into the room like water flowing from a river into the ocean. They all had obviously thrown on whatever articles of clothing they had laying around and rushed over.
"Okay, when was the last time you saw her?" Leeteuk asked, trying to catch his breath.
"Around five o'clock yesterday," I replied
"What happened, hyung?" Sungmin asked. "Why did she run off?" I shifted around uncomfortably. Leeteuk came to my rescue.
"Now isn't the time. We have an entire city to search through." I looked at him gratefully and he gave me a short nod.
"Jungsu-hyung, we have no idea where she went. She could be anywhere," Kangin said.
"Then we don't have any other choice," Leeteuk replied. "Donghae-ah, Hyukjae-ah, you two check around the northern end of the city. Jongwoon-ah, Ryeowook-ah, you two look on the western side. Siwon-ah, you and Shindong-ah look around the south end of Seoul, and Heechul-ah, you come with me and Youngwoon-ah. We'll check the eastern side. Meet back here at six."
