The MisfitsKnowing that Basil was somewhere in the castle, Lay let his senses spread out. The healer was quite a sneaky bastard, which had annoyed Lay more than once already. “Come out, come out wherever you are,” he whispered. From the corner of his eyes he saw a movement and he went down to his knees just in time. A spear pierced the wall and in a split of a second, Lay already was up on his feet again. Basil made a feint to the right side but Lay already saw through it. He grabbed the arm of the other healer, rammed his elbow into Basil's shoulder, before he made the other fall while twisting the arm painfully.
“You never will learn it, do you?” Lay put his foot on Basil's face, putting pressure on it and the other Vampire grunted slightly. “I always told you not to be hasty, didn't I?” Basil always made the same mistakes and Lay only shook his head at his old student's stupidity. “Get off of me!” With a growl, Basil smacked his fist against Lay's knee, whereupon the healer backed off immediately.
For a moment, the two stared at each other. Before Basil suddenly shook his head. “You haven't changed a bit.” His voice was full of contempt, which caused Lay to chuckle slightly. “Is that a way to greet his old teacher?” There wasn't much age different between the two of them actually, but Lay already had been at the top of the healer department at a very young age. He barely had been 100 years old as he had taken over that position and Basil just had been a young apprentice at that time.
Basil had been very surprised as he had found out that his new teacher would had been someone who was just as hold as he had been at that time, but he quickly had realized how talented Lay was. With talent came the jealousy of others and Basil always had worked hard to excel Lay but he never had managed it. He never had managed it to outdo his mentor.
As Elijah had approached him with his ideas and believes, Basil had seen a way to get rid off Lay. The angrier he was now with Lay's return. It made him remember all the hardships he went through, only because of Lay. “Shut up, Lay. I am tired of the way you are talking to me. Always, always do you treat me like you are someone so much better than me.” A frown appeared on Lay's face, before he shook his head. “I never treated you like that.” His words seem to make Basil even angrier.
