The next morning, I arrived to class early by myself. When the bell almost began ringing, Selina, Hebe, and Fahrenheit walked in.

‘Where’s Jerry? He didn’t come back to the dorm the entire night… Did something happen?’

My phone’s vibration interrupted my thoughts.

‘Are you mad? –S&H’

‘Not mad at you guys. Just that it was annoying once Fahrenheit kept asking questions… -E’

‘I don’t want to sit next to Chun. He keeps looking at me and looking away. He’s not even saying anything…. Just glaring! Annoying! –E’

‘Did you two talk about anything? Jerry and you? –H’

‘He wasn’t in the dorm the whole night. –E’

‘Did something happen to Jerry? –H’

‘I don’t know… I’m worried. –E’

“S.H.E.,” the teacher called out. “Quit texting. One more time and you’ll all have detention!”

Selina blinked innocently.

“What? Texting is bad,” Selina said, sweetly. “We wouldn’t do that! We were… uhmm…”

“Just… looking for some pens and paper…..” Hebe added.

“Because we have great notes to write down,” I finished.

We looked at each other and winked. The teacher was blushing and forgetting about it.

“You see, class,” she said. “They are the perfect examples. Notes are indeed helpful.”

We rolled our eyes and giggled.

‘Nice one. –C’

‘C? Are you Chun or Calvin? –E’

‘Chun. –C’

“You can just talk to me. I’m right next to you,” I said out loud.

“Yea, but I prefer texting,” Chun replied.

I shook my head.

“I prefer talking.”

“Then, why are you texting Selina and Hebe?”

“Because I can’t talk to them. They’re too far away,” I explained.

“You’re less than an arm away from me and you’re texting to me?” I continued asking.

Chun laughed and nodded.

“Yeah, pretty much,” he said. “I’m annoying, right? You hate me?”

I shrugged.

“Sometimes… Let’s be friends, okay?” I said. “Hating takes energy. I’ll like you if you’d buy more food for me.”

“Ella Chen Jia Hua, please report to the main office,” the intercom said.

I got up and left the room. I could hear the class whispering with curiosity.

‘What happened? –S&H’

‘Don’t know. Tell you later. –E’

“Miss Chen, do you know Jerry Yan?”

“Yes.”

“Where was he last night?”

“I don’t know. He did not come in the dorm the entire night…”

“I see… Now, do you know what happened to Mr. Yan?”

I shook my head.

“No? Jerry was found on the street near our school with a huge fever.”

I gasped.

“Where is he now?”

“He is back in your dorm. I hope you can take care of Mr. Yan until he gets better.”

“Of course.”

Later that day, I was so worried, I couldn’t concentrate on anything.

“Ella, what happened?” Hebe half whispered, half said out loud.

“Jerry’s got a fever. He was on the street last night.”

“Go to him and help him. Send him my regards,” Selina added.

I nodded and ran to my room. I opened the door and found Jerry lying on the ground. I walked over quickly and bent to pick him up. Placing my arms around his waist, I struggled to get him back on a bed. He groaned.

“Ow…”

“Sorry, are you ok?”

He was now lying on my bed because it was closer than his own. I ran to the bathroom and got his washcloth. I quickly washed it and placed it on his head. I was about to leave and go take a shower when he said something.

“Don’t leave! Mom! Dad!”

“It’s ok, little Jerry,” I said, patting his head. “Get well soon!”

“Ella…” he mumbled. “You’re really nice. Just a bit chubby, but everything else is nice. You’ve got nice long legs and wonderful skin.”

I blushed and went into the bathroom. I came out wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. To him, I probably looked like a fat marshmallow.

‘Oh my gosh! It’s so hot in the room.’

I started fanning myself, but I was sweating. Jerry was asleep…

‘I’ll just change here since it doesn’t matter now that he’s asleep…’

I took off my sweatshirt, leaving on a tank top. I also took of my sweatpants, leaving on short pants. I heard my phone buzz and went to search for it. As it turns out, it was under Jerry.

‘How did it get there? I’m messy… he-he!’

I reached my hand behind Jerry’s back.

‘I shouldn’t have put him here on my bed…’

I took my phone and read the message.

‘Ella, how’s Jerry? –S&H’

‘He’s ok now. Don’t worry ^_^ -E’

‘Ok, how are you? Tired? Sleep. –S&H’

‘I’m fine. Wearing tank top and short pants. Isn’t it hot today? –E’

‘OMG! You’re in such revealing clothes! Beware! Guy in room! –S&H’

‘Of course! He’s asleep. –E’

‘See you tomorrow, E! –S&H’

‘Ok, bye! –E’

I charged my phone and went to Jerry’s bed to sleep.

‘Man, Jerry smells good! Manly!’
