-Im Yoona
Are you my No. 1 stalker? I just posted!
-Kwon Ji Yong
You posted? Don't lie. Pretty sure you can't even type chinese. Someone must have posted on your behalf for promotional purpose.
-Im Yoona
"Hello, this is an outright insult, Im Yoona," I couldn't stand it and Facetime-ed over.
True enough, the call got picked up within three rings.
"Oh, hi there, GD sunbaenim," she greeted with a cheeky smile. "How can I help you today?"
"Yah, is this your way of cold treatment again?" I sighed. "I told you there was a discreet agreement signed with the company! I didn't even let my mum know!"
"But Young Bae oppa knew about it~" She cooed, "and you disappeared for like what? Three months? I haven't heard from you since January!"
Before I could reply, umma came barging in, "I heard Yoona's voice. Are you talk-oh, Yoona ah!"
"Auntie Kwon!"
I rolled my eyes. It had always been a wonder to me how my family and her could hit off so well, even better than I do actually.
"I saw your pizza bread! It looks really good! Oh, and that Yuzu bread you gave me, it tasted heavenly! This brat finished half of it in one go!" Umma exclaimed.
That Yuzu bread was made by her?
"I'll send you the photos of the recipe for the pizza bread and the other time Uncle Kwon told me he likes pecan pie. I'll send you the recipe too and if I can, I'll definitely bake one and send to your house."
"Awww, you're such a lovely girl, Yoona!"
I started scrolling her social media sites to check on her recent updates while umma continued to hog on the phone and chatted with her. I was surprised by all the updates.
"Alright. I got to go now, send my regards to your appa!"
"Neh~" Yoona bowed politely, seeing umma off.
"It looks like I wasn't the only one who went missing?" I raised my brows and showed her baking photos. "The pot calling the kettle black?"
"I wasn't hiding anything. You just didn't bother finding out," she shrugged her shoulders in response. "The difference is I was contactable, you weren't, so you're the kettle, I'm not the pot."
"Since when are you so close with my mum? You guys even exchanged contacts?" I was guilty and tried changing the topic.
"Since ever?" She scoffed. "If you've nothing else, I'm going to continue my baking, GD-sshi."
Sounds like she's genuinely upset with my disappearance; Every response coming out from her was low-key jabbing me.
"Hey, I'm sorry okay," I tried to pacify. "You know chocolate chiffon is my favourite. Where's my share?"
"You already ate more than half of my Yuzu bread? Chocolate chiffon is for my own guilty pleasure," she snorted. "Go get it yourself. Pretty sure you'll be able to get it delivered right to your doorstep by using your name."
Suddenly, I missed meeting her.
"Yah, are you free now?"
"Wae?"
"Let's meet up."
"What?"
"I say, let's meet up," I smiled. "You haven't heard from me since January right? I'll tell you everything that happened for the past three months. If you meet up with me that is."
"Is this supposed to be a reward of some sort? Because I totally don't feel like it's one. I'm no longer interested in knowing what's up with you. Besides, it's the COVID-19 period now. We shouldn't be out, might get caught and the paparazzi would write rubbish again. You know, unlike you, I'm not used and don't want to get used to bad publicity."
Experience told me that something was definitely off with her and hearing how she's reacting towards me, was making me nervous and scared. Still, I would have expected her to come out and meet me; she always did.
"Hangang Park, 2pm," I gave the location and time, ignoring her comment.
"I'll think about it and get back to you," she hang the call without agreeing nor rejecting to my proposal.
For some unknown reason, I was rather positive that she would turn up for the meeting. True enough, an hour later, a text came in.
Not meeting at 2pm. Meet at 8 instead.
-Im Yoona
I thought you're rather free these days? I might not be available at 8.
-Kwon Ji Yong
Then let's not meet. Go get busy with your stuff.
-Im Yoona
I smirked.
This woman was getting real fiery.
♂♂♂♂♂
"Thought you're busy?"
"I thought you said we're not meeting?"
Despite the text, we ended up at the exact location at the exact timing. We were always able to read each other's real intention, even without looking at the other party's expression. I guessed that's why people said that we're like two peas in the pod; it takes one to know one.
"Give it to uncle," she broke into a smile as she took a seat beside me and handed me a box, two actually.
So that's the reason why she's unable to make it at 2. She was baking.
"Pecan pie?" I raised my brows at her and saw another small box of chocolate chiffon, "chocolate chiffon?"
"Don't gloat, I just had leftover ingredients that I don't wanna waste," she avoided my eyes.
"Thanks," I broke into a satisfied grin as I opened that box of chiffon cake and started eating.
A comfortable silence enveloped us as I munched on the cake.
"You know, if you quit being a star, you can open a bakery," I my fingers as I polished off the cake.
"You'll invest?"
"You've loads of money, Im Yoona," I laughed. "No pizza bread?"
"Invest on a bread shop to supply that for you," she rebutted and took the empty box away from me.
"Such a petty girl," I shook my head. "I'm saying the truth though. Any thoughts of opening a bakery?"
"And be like you? Opened Monsant and closed Monsant, open Shinhwa world café and about to close it again?"
"Ouch," I flung my hand to my heart in mock pain. "Hey, at least my clothing brand is doing well." <
