Dear My Family
This Is ItI plop down onto my bed and shut my eyes "Dear My Family..." I whisper
(Flashback)
"Hey mom, where are we heading this weekend?"
"We're going camping."
"Camping?! Awesome!" Elise and I chorus.
"You girls are such twins"
"Well, that's because we are twins mom!" we chorus again.
"There you go again," my mom says as she rolls her eyes albeit with a smile on her face.
"We're heading off today so you girls better get packed before heading off to school" Dad chimes in from the hallway.
"Morning Dad," We say together again.
"Morning Girls," he replies as he kisses each of us on our heads before walking over to mom to give her a kiss as well.
"Dad's right, once you are done with breakfast you better head up to start getting packed. You don't want to be late for school."
"Alright mom, we will"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I really wish we could stay longer"
"Yeah me too," Elise says to me.
"Oh well, we don't have a choice, with school and all"
"Maybe Dad might have time next week as well"
"Maybe, but I doubt it. With the recent shift of the Headquaters to Korea it's a surprise that he could even make it back this week for our birthday today. Knowing Dad, there was no way he would miss our birthday though"
"You got that right" Elise says with a smile on her face.
"Girls! Come on out for a minute please."
"Coming!"
"Surprise! Happy Birthday babies!" Mom and Dad shout with presents in hand.
"OMG I really wanted this! Thanks mom! Thanks Dad" We chorused as usual.
"That's a really nice guitar" Elise says to me
"Yes it is. Those are really nice dance shoes as well. Your previous ones were ruined during your previous latin dance competition weren't they?"
"Yeah they were! Mom and Dad always get us what we really want"
"We're your parents. What did you expect? Anyway what did you girls get each other?"
"These!" We say raising our right hands together.
"Who bought the rings?" Mum asks.
"I did, Elise got us the bracelets"
"Happy Birthday Sis" Elise says to me
"Happy Birthday Baby Sis"
"Oh c'mon! You're only 10 mins older! Why do you always make it sound like 10 years"
I just laughed as I moved to give her a big hug.
"I love you Elise"
"I love you too Ellie"
We turn to see our parents smiling at us, then walk over to give them a big hug as well.
"Thanks mum and dad. For always supporting our dreams and everything we do, for being our biggest fans"
"Your most welcome my babies. We can't really help it either you know. We just have 2 really talented daughters." Mom says with Dad nodding along.
"So my talented girls, what do you say we get going? We need to make it back before nightfall" Dad then says.
"Oh yeah we probably should"
With that, we start packing up and we're back on the road back home shortly after. 10 hours and a lot of pitstops later we're back in the city and about an hour away from home. It is already 10.30pm. Elise and Mom are both fast asleep. I stay awake to keep Dad company.
"Hey, Dad?"
"Yeah?" he answers with his eyes still on the road.
"What time do the pubs around here close up? I say while looking out the window.
"I don't really know"
"Why are there so many cars parked here? If they are here drinking shouldn't they make sure not to drive?"
"Yes they should. You're just trying to keep me awake, aren't you Ellie?"
"Haha Yeah that's exactly what I am trying to do"
"Thank you kiddo"
"No problem dad"
With my seatbelt still on I lean to the right to look to the front of the car in order to see the road ahead. Out of nowhere a car swerves and rams into us as Dad hits the breaks. I see a lot of blood before I black out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I came to, to the loud sounds of the sirens and scrapping sounds. My eyes still blurry, I look around and I see Elise looking at me. I try to move and feel a sharp pain shoot through my abdomen. I look down and see a large shard of glass sticking out of my abdomen. I knew better than to try to pull it out myself so I settle for reaching out to Ellie with my hand. As I hold her hand, I notice a lot of blood coming from her head and I notice that she is gasping for air. Then I see it, the glass shard protruding from her chest.
"Stay with me, Elise! Hang in there"
"It.. h.. hurts.. Ell.." She says between gasps
"I know it does but I just need you to hang in there"
Just then the rescue team manages to remove the roof of the car. I finally look to the front as I can see a little clearer. I see both Mom and Dad with their heads slumped forward. I also notice that the rescue workers head straight to me and my sister and don't help Mom and Dad.
"No! Help Mom and Dad first! And Elise too! I'm fine! Help them first!" I yell.
Just then I felt Elise's hand loosen it's grip around mine. I turn over and see her eyes closed. My eyes widen "Elise!!" In one swift movement she is swept out of the car and on a strecther with paramedics surrounding her.
I'm slowly lifted out of the car as well.
"Mom, Dad, Elise.." Those were my last words before I fall unconcious.
(End of Flashback)
I open my eyes, tears rolling down my cheek uncontrollably. I raise my right hand and stare at it as more tears flow.
"Dear My Family" I whisper again
"Why did you leave me?"
