SYN: Dahyun is a cupid sent on a mission and her target is Son Chaeyoung.

Dahyun is a cupid on a mission. The heavenly father had called her to his office and passed her a scroll of the target that she had to work on. Dahyun read it while munching on her lunch. It was a 18 year old girl by the name of Son Chaeyoung, who had her heart broken 2 years ago and had now locked her emotions away. Usually love isn’t something that the heavenly father would be concerned about but since he requested it, it should be important.

“I’ll be on the job! Bye gramps!” She hummed and flew out of the door.

“Stop calling me gramps!” He boomed while Dahyun just chuckled.

Dahyun took the form of a normal human being. Heaven’s administrative team had helped her arrange the school and classes that she would be attending and arranged the dorm that she would be staying at. One wouldn’t need to think too hard to know that she would be in the same class and dorm mates with Son Chaeyoung.

“Class! Quiet down! We have a new student today who had just transferred in.” The teacher announced.

“Hello everyone, I’m Kim Dahyun. Let’s all get along!” She gave a beaming smile.

“Dahyun, there are a few empty seats in class. You can choose where you want to seat.” The teacher said.

“Hmm… There. At the back, beside the girl with the black hair.” Dahyun hummed.

Chaeyoung adverted her gaze from the window to the front of the class where Dahyun stood. She looked at her before looking back out the window again. Dahyun took her seat and said ‘Hi’ but Chaeyoung ignored her.

“Tough nut to crack huh?” Dahyun grinned.

Chaeyoung snapped her head around, confused at what Dahyun just uttered to herself but the latter played it off with a laugh. Chaeyoung preferred to be alone during lunch or free times because to her, relationships were only a waste of time. But now, it was hard to find that space because now she had Dahyun tagging along with her everywhere she goes.

“What do you like? You seem like that type of person that loves rock music because of your dark…”

‘So annoying…’ Chaeyoung thought to herself as she sighed.

Chaeyoung was finally allowed to take a breather when she reached her home. The first thing she did was to head to her room to wash up before going to have dinner with her parents.

“How’s school today dear?” Her mother asked.

“Same. But… there is this new girl and she is really annoying…” Chaeyoung hissed.

Her father chuckled and pats her head as he walked over to the dinning table.

“You have to learn to open your heart to others Chaeyoung. Don’t let that one event affect your whole life.” Her father nagged.

“Please dad…. No more… you are starting to sound like that new girl.” Chaeyoung begged.

The next day, Chaeyoung found herself lowering the volume on her ipod and being more cautious as she headed to her dorm. Yesterday was a free day for her to go home but her parents would be going on a business trip and were not coming back in another 2 weeks. Thinking she reached her doorstep with no problems, she heaved a sigh of relief and pushed the door open.

“Hey, you are back!”

‘That…. That smile… argh!’ Chaeyoung’s shoulder drooped and she accepted her fate.

“Chaeyoungie~ What do you think about this guy?” Dahyun wrapped her hands around her from the back of the sofa and held her phone up.

Chaeyoung immediately felt uncomfortable about the close contact. She flinched and darted away while staring at Dahyun with a fierce glare.

“W-what?” Dahyun uttered.

“Get away from me! Who said we were close enough for you to do this or even call me ‘Chaeyoungie’?! Me and you, we are not friends!” Chaeyoung yelled before heading to her bed and pulling the blanket over her head.

“I see… this is harder than I thought…” Dahyun mumbled to herself and went back to her drawing board.

[Day 1]

“Chaeyoung….” Dahyun called out.

[Day 2]

“Hey, Chaeyoung! Want to-“

“No.”

[Day 3]

“Chae-“

“I don’t want to talk to you.”

[Day 4]

Chaeyoung would grab her bag and rush out of the class before Dahyun could open her moth.

[Day 5]

“Chaeyoung, ignoring me is not going to work.” Dahyun said.

“Exams are coming. I want to focus.” Chaeyoung changed the subject.

“Son Chaeyoung!” Dahyun raised her voice, causing Chaeyoung to stop her writing.

“How long are you going to ignore me?” Dahyun huffed.

Chaeyoung heaved a sigh and started to pack her belongings silently. As Chaeyoung walked towards the dorms, Dahyun trailed behind. Chaeyoung couldn’t scold the latter because she and her lived in the same dorm.

“UWAH!” Dahyun yawned.

“Tomorrow is a holiday. Do you want to go out and have fun?”

Chaeyoung didn’t acknowledge.

“Would you please shut up for once?!” Chaeyoung snapped, causing Dahyun to flinch.

After realizing what she did, Chaeyoung took a deep breath before turning back to her books.

“I’m trying to help you find your happiness Chaeyoung.” Dahyun said.

Chaeyoung scoffed and put her pen down.

“And why would I need your help? Who do you think you are?”

“Why are you so hostile? Just because of the break-“ Dahyun didn’t even finish when a book came flying her way. Lucky for her, her fast reflexes helped her dodge the attack.

“Wow, I dint know a cold person like you could still feel hurt over something so long ago.” Dahyun continued to tease.

Chaeyoung gritted her teeth and started to toss whatever she could find around her at Dahyun. Others may think that Dahyun’s method of reverse psychology was risky and impractical but she just had a feeling it would work on Chaeyoung. Dahyun smirked when she thought she saw a glisten from Chaeyoung’s eyes.

“You are starting to crack.” She grinned.

“Shut up!” Chaeyoung yelled, slamming her hand around to search for something to throw.

“That’s right! Just let it out! We can play this game the whole day until you are satisfied.” Dahyun hummed.

“You ***** All of you are the same! Liars! Cheaters! Players! Players who only know how to toy on the hearts of the weak!” Chaeyoung spat as she tears streamed down her cheeks.

Cupping her face, Chaeyoung dropped onto her knees sobbing. Dahyun’s facial features soften and she approached Chaeyoung. Kneeling beside her, she attempted to pull her in for a hug. The latter complied without a fight and gripped the back of Dahyun’s uniform tightly while sobbing against her chest.

“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you find happiness again.” Dahyun whispered.

Both girls sat at their study table looking at the pages but minds filled with the events of their fight. It took a few minutes of awkward silence before Dahyun dared open to ask about their Saturday plans.
