Baby, It's Cold Outside
Myungyeol 50 Songfic Challenge
This song is amazing. Watch the Glee version. Do it.
It started snowing around three in the afternoon. Nearly four hours later, it hadn't stopped.
"I should really go before it gets worse." Sungyeol presses a palm against the window as he peers out into white nothingness.
"Let's just call your parents and tell them you're staying over tonight."
Sungyeol shrugs and slumps into the armchair beside him. "What'll the neighbours think?"
"They couldn't care less. Their son has girls over all the time. Besides, we're dating and we've been home alone together before. It's not like they don't already know." He laughs and whines at the same time as Sungyeol smacks him repeatedly.
Myungsoo takes one of Sungyeol's cold hands between his own. "Want more hot cocoa?"
He bites his lip hesitantly, "Sure. But then I'm going home."
Myungsoo smiles mischievously and disappears into the kitchen. "Turn on the radio. I wanna listen to cheesy Christmas songs."
Sungyeol flips it on, spinning the tuning dial on the antique. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is playing.
"Wanna hear a joke?" He balances the cups on a tray next to a bag of marshmallows, colourful sprinkles, and a bowl of whipped cream.
"Is it terrible?"
"Obviously. Do you know who the tenth reindeer is?"
"Nope, I don't think I want to either."
"Olive. Olive, the other reindeer. Get it? Like in the song, all of, Olive." He laughs as Sungyeol pushes his face away.
"You're mean. I hate you."
"Oh, come on. I'm letting you stay over and serving you hot cocoa and everything. And feel my shirt." Myungsoo guides Sungyeol's hand to his chest. "It's boyfriend material."
"Maybe I should reconsider my taste in fabrics."
"Ouch." He rests his head on Sungyeol's shoulder sleepily. "You hurt my feelings. I'm sad now."
"Aww," he taps his boyfriend's nose. "That . I should get going."
Sungyeol stands up quickly and Myungsoo catches himself before he hits the ground.
"Seriously? But I was ready to pull out the Christmas movies and everything. Come on, it's depressing to stare into a fireplace alone."
"So don't stare into the fireplace alone. Lend me your coat?"
"No, it's bad out there." He wraps his arms around Sungyeol's waist and leans up for a peck. "I'll call your mom. She likes me."
Sungyeol grins as his boyfriend fumbles with his cellphone, almost dropping it twice. "She does?"
He looks up from the keypad to scoff. "She made me cookies for asking you out. Of course she likes me." After a few minutes on the phone he hands it to Sungyeol.
"Hey Mom."
"Sorry you got snowed in darling, but I'm glad you're with Myungsoo. I'll come pick you up tomorrow morning. Don't stay up too late!"
"I don't plan to, Mom."
"Don't lie to your mother. Invite him over for dinner, okay? See you tomorrow, love you."
"Bye, love you."
Myungsoo is already in front of the fireplace, mug in hand and a blanket draped over his shoulders. "Come." He pats the floor next to him, scooting over to let Sungyeol sit down.
"She wants you to stay for dinner tomorrow."
"Really? Are you sure it's okay?"
"Yup. I think she loves you more than me. Congrats."
He ruffles his boyfriend's hair and pulls his head closer to kiss his cheek. "No need to be jealous, darling."
"Jerk."
"Hush, young one. Stare into the fireplace with me."
Happy Holidays, dear readers. This might be the last update of the year! Lots of luck and happiness for 2016!
