Jungkook’s phone vibrates and he reads the message.

“What are you thinking of?” V asked him.

“Me? Thinking? I don’t think?” Jungkook stabs the steak so hard with the fork it goes right through and scratches the plate.

“Yah you’re ruining good meat!” Suga scolds him.

Jimin and Taehyung exchange looks.

Hoseok waves his hand in Jungkook’s face. “He’s nervous.”

The boys all laugh.

“We worked hard for this comeback let’s just enjoy it. Who knows when they’ll treat us to steak again.” Namjoon says.

There’s a knock on the door. “Come in.” you say.

Kami enters the room, you can already tell what she’s going to ask you. “Hey, I have to go pick up Jun, can you watch the baby while I go? He’s sleeping so he shouldn’t wake up for a while.”

“I can watch him. I’m not doing anything important anyways.” You move to your brother’s room and watch him sleep, he’s gotten so big in the last year and a half.

Your phone vibrates, and you get a text from Subin. “Can I call you?”

“Yeah” You type back and step out onto the balcony. It’s cold outside because its still February, even though the snow is all melting.

The phone rings Subin just doesn’t stop. “THE CAFE THE MARK OH MY GOD HAYOUNG I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ITS CRAZY WHAT IF I MOVE TO AMERICA.”

“Subin you have to slow down.” You say.

“WHAT?”

“I said slow down. Breathe.”

“HAYOUNG I CAN’T!”

“I don’t hear you breathing.” You tease your dramatic best friend. She responds by taking deep audible breaths and you laugh. You can already tell it’s going to be a good story.

“okay I’m calm now.” She says.

“continue.” You look back at your nephew who is still sleeping inside.

“So, I went to that new smoothie bar by school, because you know I’m trying to work out and lose all this fat. I went inside to order a smoothie, so I got my usual blueberry strawberry with protein and when they called it out I went to grab it. But this other person went for it. And our hands touched. I said sorry and that’s when I realized there were two of them and grabbed the other one and went to sit down.”

“SUBIN!”

“I’m not done let me finish!”

“Oh sorry.” You say and realizing you yelled earlier, look back inside. He’s still asleep, which is good, because you would have felt bad about waking him.

“So I sit down and that guy comes and he’s like ‘excuse me’ and I’m like ‘I said I was sorry’ and that’s when I noticed he’s really hot and I was like ‘oh sorry did you need something’ and he was stuttering and I couldn’t hear him and I told him to speak up and he pointed at my hand. Hayoung, my hand has a black mark on it!”

A bunch of questions run through your head, and you ask them all. Subin’s responses answer everything. He’s Korean, born in America. His name is Seungwoo, and his English name is Mark and he’s doing a semester abroad in Korea.

“So what are you going to do now?” You ask Subin.

“What else can I do? I’m moving to America.” She laughs. “But in all seriousness, I think I’m ready to date him. We should get to know each other. It’s a start, but that’s all I got so far. I’m so rude though! What are you up to?”

“I’m watching my nephew,” you say, and notice he’s standing up in his crib. “Oh . He’s awake, hold on!” You slide the phone in your pocket and walk back inside, the warmth from the house instantly takes over your body. You pick Jinyoung up, grab his favorite bunny plush and walk to the living room. “We’re going to watch tv, okay Jinyoung?”

You turn the tv on and put the phone on speaker. “sorry Subin, where were we?”

“oh, nothing I was just wondering what you were doing, but I’m surprised, why aren’t you with Jungkook?”

“Oh, he’s with the guys. They’re having a celebratory dinner for You Never Walk Alone.” Which reminds you, you haven’t texted him back, so you type something finally.

“I haven’t listened to it yet, I probably should. They’re going on tour, soon right?”

“Ahhh! don’t even remind me. They have so many overseas stops. I’m jealous.” Jungkook comes back into your mind and you send him another message incase he forgot to respond to the first one.

“No really, what were you thinking of?” Jimin asks him.

“Ah, I wasn’t thinking I’m just not sure if I should say it. I probably shouldn’t.” Jungkook cuts another piece of steak.

Jungkook’s phone vibrates again and Jimin beats him to it. “It’s Hayoung, and she says ‘hey are you alive” Jimin teases. Taehyung leans over his shoulder an Jungkook’s eyes go big as he recalls her last message.

“Subin found her soulmate.”
