There's Mischief Afoot

Torments In Powder Pink

It was a glorious spring day with flowers blooming and leaves glowing bright green on the trees as sunlight cut through branches. Sungmin walked back to his dorm slowly, taking in the beautiful scenery and enjoying the fresh breeze that tousled his hair.

Everything Ryeowook had said to him was brought to the front of Sungmin's mind and he used it as a template to run his own thoughts up against. Ryeowook really did talk sense. He did need time to think about what Kyuhyun had said to him actually meant and how he felt about it. Rushing in would be absolutely the wrong thing to do. He would just end up hurting the both of them and that is the last thing he wanted to do. He knew he felt very strongly about Kyuhyun, but he didn't know whether or not it was 'love'. He'd never truly been in love before, so he wouldn't know how to recognise the feeling. He definitely liked him more than a friend at least.

It was true that deep down he still had hang-ups about their relationships, but he was getting over them one by one, his feelings for Kyuhyun growing deeper each time.

*

“They're.....”

“Together, yeah,” Ryeowook interrupted Yesung as he was repeating what he had just told him.

“Like together together? Like officially together?”

“YES!”

Yesung tried to act calm to appear cool and stoic after receiving the bomb-shell that Sungmin and Kyuhyun are an item, but the tell-tale sings of an oncoming full-on fanboy session were evident through his eyebrow raises and wide eyed gaze.

“Don't even bother trying to act cool.” Ryeowook could see straight through him, encouraging his real reaction so he had someone to bask in fan-boy glory with.

Yesung tried for a few seconds longer to conceal it before his resolve faded and with it, his face erupted into an invading smile that made him look more mouth than anything else.

“Oh Wookie I knew it! I just knew it!”

“Me too!!” Ryeowook grabbed both of Yesung's hands and preceded to jump up and down, moving round in a circle and pulling Yesung along with him who had willingly given in to he jumping also.

When they stopped they both fell backwards onto the bed, landing on their backs. Ryeowook wasted no time in rolling onto his side and snuggling close to Yesung, resting his head on his chest and arm around his waist. Yesung responded by wrapping his arms around him too.

“How did you find out?” Asked Yesung, enjoying the warmth of Ryeowook.

“Sungmin came round this morning and told me all about it. How did you know they were together? Did Kyuhyun tell you? Or Sungmin? I hope he didn't tell you before me.” He ended on a pout.

“Nope nothing like that, I could tell by how they were acting with each other at the restaurant the other day. That wasn't a normal friendship argument.”

“You're right!” Ryeowook shouted, pushing himself up so he could look Yesung full in the face. “There was definitely more to it and we both saw it. We could have been a detective duo, seeking out hidden relationships and giving love advice!”

“Did Sungmin need love advice?” Yesung asked, curiosity triggered by Ryeowook's last words.

“Well, sort of I guess. But more of before-love advice. Kyuhyun told him that he loves him and Sungmin panicked because he doesn't know if he loves him.” At the excitement of talking about it again, Ryeowook ce again into a teenage girl, bouncing his body up and down on the bed making Yesung's body bounce in sync. “It was so sweet, he looked like a little lost puppy. All sweet and innocent.”

Yesung couldn't mistake it made him feel mushy at the thought of it, but managed to conceal it a bit more this time, much to the disappointment of Ryeowook.

“Hey aren't you excited about this?” He asked, but when he received only a smile, he decided to tease. Pausing in his bouncing, he lowered he lowered his head and ran his fingers up and down Yesung's chest.. Voice barely above a whisper, he spoke: “Do you remember when you first told me that you loved me?”

“I-I do,” Yesung answered, surprised by the sudden questioning.

“Do you remember how you reacted?” Ryeowook continued, continuing in his hand movements.

When he received no answer, Ryeowook answered the question himself. “You said it then panicked and hid in your room. You didn't even give me chance to say anything. I was surprised so I left you alone for a bit, but then later on that night I heard you talking to your turtle, confessing to him you felt so stupid and that you thought that I probably didn't love you anyway. When I heard that, I couldn't help myself from coming into your room and forcing you to tell me that you love me again. Then I told you that I love you too.” He finished with a smirk and Yesung couldn't help but pull him into a deep, strong embrace, simultaneously fulfilling his need to have him as close to him as possible whilst hiding his blush and manic grin. Ryeowook's recount was a perfect example of Yesung's dorky side.

Ryeowook giggling while Yesung held him close, muffled slightly by the chest he was being pulled into.

“Sungmin and Kyuhyun really should try to make it less obvious though, I could sense it a mile away. They obviously want to keep it a secret since they haven't told us, but its just sooooooo obvious. They should be more like us,” Yesung finished with a nod of the head.

Laughing again, Ryeowook asked Yesung incredulously: “You think we aren't obvious? You're so cute.” Reaching his arm up he squeezed Yesung's cheek. “The way you rushed to me when I nearly passed out during training, if that didn't make it obvious, nothing will.”

Yesung paused in thought, his face a picture of concentration, before giving in and nodding his head.

*

Kyuhyun was slumped on the sofa, his laptop perched perilously on the end of his thighs. His fingers were tapping away and moving the mouse at an almost inhumane speed while he filled his time alone playing the game he loved almost as much as he loved Sungmin. Almost. When the front door opened, he didn't even hear it, nor did he hear Sungmin come in.

When Sungmin saw Kyuhyun, he thanked his stars that he was engrossed in his game, taking the opportunity to shuffle into his room. He would find something to busy himself because his head was still too clouded with Ryeowook's words at the moment.

Du du lu

Kyuhyun's phone beeped beside him. Reaching for it with one hand while keeping his other and his eyes glued to the laptop, Kyuhyun clicked to open the text message. Ripping his eyes away quickly, he let his eyes scan over the words.

'Hey man, congratulations on your relationship, not that I didn't already know........ Remember to be patient :p. Yesung x'

Kyuhyun was so shocked by the message that he didn't look back to the game, causing him to be killed. Yesung knows? And if he knows, Ryeowook probably does too. So that's why Sungmin wanted to see Ryeowook.

Kyuhyun placed his laptop down beside him and made his way to Sungmin's room. Knocking on his door he waited for the reply that came some seconds later. Sungmin opened the door to a confused looking Kyuhyun who walked through the doorway into Sungmin's room. Sungmin turned and faced him as Kyuhyun did the same.

“You told Ryeowook?” He asked.

Sungmin was stilled for a moment in confusion at how Kyuhyun knew so quick. “How do you know?” he answered the question with a question.

“Yesung just text me saying congratulations.”

“Yesung? I didn't tell Yesung.”

“But you told Ryeowook didn't you? Do you really think Ryeowook wouldn't tell Yesung? He can't hold his water.” Annoyance was giving his words spikes, but in all honesty, Kyuhyun didn't know why he felt so angry. Its not like no one else knows about their relationship. Maybe it was because he went behind his back and told him.

“Calm down, we can trust them,” Sungmin ushered him.

“Maybe we can but don't you think you should of consulted me before swanning off and telling the world.”

“I've hardly told the world, its only Ryeowook and Yesung. They're together anyway. I don't think they'd run and tell everyone when they're a couple also.” Sungmin tired his best to defend his case.

Kyuhyun thought this over, seeing Sungmin's point, then dropping himself onto Sungmin's bed and bending forward to rest his head in his hands.

“I guess you're right. Sorry.” Kyuhyun said in a voice muffled by the flesh of his hands.

Sungmin walked forward and sat on the bed next to him.

“It's fine,” he assured him. “I'd probably have reacted the same way if it was me.” Sungmin rested his arms over Kyuhyun's shoulders, squeezing gently.

Kyuhyun lifted his head and turned it to the side, meeting Sungmin's on-look. His hair hung in messy waves just above his eyes while Sungmin's fell in straight spikes. In that moment, looking into Kyuhyun's big brown eyes, the fact that he had said he loved him had become all the more real, practically taking concrete form in the room. Sungmin felt a pang in his heart which jolted him into movement, releasing Kyuhyun and running his hand through his own hair.

Kyuhyun watched him for a few seconds before he remembered something, his eyes widening in realisation. Practically throwing himself up from the bed, he ran flailing from the room in the direction of his laptop laid discarded on the sofa.

Sungmin heard curses coming from the living room and couldn't help but giggle to himself. “That dork.”

Meanwhile Eunhyuk and Donghae were devising their next mischievous plan for full on fan-boy stalking.

In a dark ominous room, connoting all kinds of evil and mischief, Heechul spoke.

“You have to come and meet me now,” he spoke his order calmly.

“Now, why now hyung?” the voice at the other end of the phone enquired.

“Don't even bother asking, just do it,” he said this too calmly, almost so calmly that it took all emphasis away from his words. If it was anyone else saying, it would be ignored but since it was Heechul, the words carried more weight than if the had been shouted.

“Come to my apartment, I'll be waiting,” he hissed, hanging up to signal finality in the plan.

In the dark room, the only light coming from a small lamp in the corner in the room that was doing an inadequate job of emitting any light, Heechul sat illuminated ominously on one side in a high-backed arm chair twiddling his thumbs, waiting for the man he had summoned.

When a knock resounded through the apartment come time later, Heechul pushed himself up from his chair and stalked towards the door in swift movements. He opened it to Zhou Mi stood in the entrance, looking dumbstruck and curious. Heechul stepped aside allowing for room for Zhou Mi to pass before closing the door behind him and moving back to his seat. He signalled for Zhou Mi to sit on the sofa and he complied, sitting in the centre so as not to be too close, but not too far away either.

“Why did you want to see me?” Zhou Mi asked bringing his eyes up to look at Heechul whose face was now contorting into an evil smirk. One side of his mouth has raised, his eyes narrowing like a felines before he spoke.

“Do you know about Kyuhyun and Sungmin?” He wasn't going to beat around the bush, he wasn't that kind of man. When Zhou Mi shook his head, he continued. “No? Well I'm not going to sugar coat it.... they're together.”

Dumbstruck, Zhou Mi stared on for a few seconds, connotations running around in his head before forcing himself to speak shaking his head from side to side. “Together? What do you mean together?”

“What do I mean together?” Heechul stared at him as if he had just asked him how to breathe, like he was an imbecile. “Are you stupid? By together I mean together. As in: In, A. Relationship.” The last words were said slowly, his body moving further forward with each word.

Zhou Mi just continued to shake his head, looking down to the floor as if it would help before looking back to Heechul and demanding answers.

“For how long?” he asked desperatly.

“At least four months. But that's not important, what's important is what are you going to do about it?” Heechul smiled again.

Zhou Mi didn't quite understand and questioned Heechul for elaboration. “What.... what do you mean by what an I going to do?”

“Wow your a sharp one tonight Zhou Mi,” Heechul hissed in reply. “I mean exactly what I say. Help me out here. Why is everyone an imbecile?”

“But I don't understand, what do you want me to do? What can I do?”

“Do I have to do everything myself?” Heechul let out a long drawn-out breath before continuing. He complained, but really he loved doing everything, it meant he had control over everything, the ability to pull the strings and manipulate situations. “I know you like Kyuhyun so, plain and simply, you need to split them up.”

Zhou Mi's eyes widened in shock. It was true that he liked Kyuhyun, and that the news of him being with Sungmin was painful, but he didn't know if his conscience would allow for him to do what Heechul was questioning him to do.

No.....” he shook his head. “No. I don't know if I.......”

What do you mean no?” Heechul interrupted before Zhou Mi could even finish his sentence. “No is not an option here. It is necessary that you do it!”

But......”

No! No buts. You like him, how can you stand for him to be with Sungmin? You two were close right? Don't you feel like you've had your nose pushed out a bit.” When Heechul saw Zhou Mi lower his head, he knew he was making progress so he continued, twisting the knife even further into Zhou Mi's fresh wound. “Just imagine them together, that should be you but no, Sungmin has weaved an evil little web around his heart and mind. He's brainwashed. He doesn't like Sungmin. He shouldn't be with Sungmin. He should be with you.”

Zhou Mi couldn't deny that Heechul posed a very strong argument, and in his current malleable state Heechul's words starting to sink into Zhou Mi and poison it from the inside out. He should be with me. He should be with me. The more he repeated it the more it made sense. He should be with me.

He should be with you....... Whenever you think of them, just think that...... It's the way things should be....... now what are you going to do about the current situation.”

His words had well and truly converted him to his way of thinking. Throwing himself down to the floor in front of Sungmin and in a way that was not unpleasant to Heechul, he began begging him.

Help me hyung, please. Tell me what to do.”

Grinning his evil cat-like smile again, Heechul gave voice to the wicked plan that had long been weaving in his nefarious mind.

Meanwhile Siwon was his cross.

Kyuhyun was trying to recover his game, emitting many 'aish's in the process when his phone rang. Throwing his laptop down in frustration, he quickly grasped at him mobile and pressed the answer button.

“Hello?” He said, maybe a little to angrily.

“Kyuhyun,” replied the voice of his manager. “You are required to fly to China to complete some promotions for Super Junior M. Pack your things, you will be picked up in about two hours.”

“What hyung? That's a little short notice isn't it.”

“It was short notice for me too.”

“For how long?”

“I don't know, we will be trying to squeeze in as many shows and promotions as possible, so it could be a couple of weeks.”

“A couple of weeks?!” Kyuhyun repeated in surprise.

“Yes Kyuhyun, don't argue just get yourself ready. Goodbye.”

He was going to fight the plan but was prevented by the sound of the phone clicking off of his manager's end. In equally as much anger as that that spurred on his laptop throwing just moments previous, he threw his phone down onto the sofa. How can he be told something like that on such short notice?

Sungmin was still in his room when Kyuhyun figured he had best go and tell him. He knocked on his door and didn't wait for an answer before walking in. Sungmin was laid on his bead reading a book and cuddling his rabbit teddy bear when he looked up shocked at the sudden intrusion. He was about to shout when he saw the troubled expression on Kyuhyun's face. Putting down his book and teddy he slid along the bed and was about to get up when Kyuhyun walked over and sat down next to him, instantly dropping his head down to rest on Sungmin's shoulder. It was solace for the moment and he hated the thought that he wouldn't feel this for potentially a couple of weeks.

“Kyuhyun? What is it?” Sungmin asked concerned by Kyuhyun's sudden intimate gesture.

“I have to go to China to promote Super Junior M,” he said bluntly and monotone.

Sungmin was just as shocked as Kyuhyun had been upon first hearing it, unnecessary panic starting to bubble in his stomach.

“Now? For how long?”

“Yes, I will be picked up in a couple of hours. Manager said it could be for a couple of weeks. I don't know yet,” he spoke the words as if reading a leaflet.

“A couple of weeks?” Sungmin really was panicking far more than was necessary. This has happened before..... but never since they had started their relationship. “But.....” he started but swiftly stopped because he knew it was useless saying anything. Instead he just tipped head to the side to rest on Kyuhyun's head that was still planted on his shoulder.

They stayed like this for several minutes before Kyuhyun started to make a move.

“Where are you going?” Sungmin shouted out panicked, grabbing onto Kyuhyun's hand as if he was about to disappear into thin air.

Rubbing his fingers over Sungmin's clutching hand, Kyuhyun answered: “Don't worry, I'm only going to pack my bag.”

“I'm coming.” Sungmin sprang up from the bed and they both walked to Kyuhyun's room. Sungmin sat on the bed while Kyuhyun – who felt surprisingly calmer than previous – packed a bag full of necessities that would last him for a couple of weeks.

When he was done, he placed his bag near the front door and he and Sungmin lay on his bed in each others embrace, limbs laced, as the remainder of the final hour ticked by. This would the the first long stretch of time that they would spend apart since they started their relationship and the prospect somewhat made Sungmin nervous. Before, Kyuhyun was just like any one else in Super Junior to him: a band-mate and friend but now he was so much more. He was what Sungmin had never experienced, therefore he had never experienced having to be without them.

They didn't speak, just laid in silence until a knock came to the door. After giving one last squeeze to Sungmin's clutching body which was returned with just as much strength, Kyuhyun pulled away and rose from the bed reluctant to say the least.

Sungmin rose with him and held his hand as Kyuhyun walked to the door. At the destination Kyuhyun turned and pulled Sungmin into a tight embrace.

“I will miss you,” Sungmin told him standing on his tiptoes so he could comfortably place his arms around Kyuhyun's neck, holding on as tightly as possible.

“I'm going to miss you, but I'll phone you everyday........... I love you” Kyuhyun whispered softly into Sungmin's ear, hot breath sending shivers rippling down his spine and resting in his toes, though that was not the only thing causing it......

Kyuhyun then kissed a trail along Sungmin's face, starting on his ear and finishing on his lips where he planted a lingering, passionate kiss.

Letting go Kyuhyun, slipped on his shoes and opened the door with his free hand to the person who had impatiently knocked again.

“Hi Kyuhyun....... and Sungmin,” the pleased-to-see-you smile dissipated when he saw Sungmin standing next to Kyuhyun, then turning downwards into a frown when his eyes travelled to their joined hands which quickly released under the scrutiny.

“Hello Zhou Mi.”

Kyuhyun stepped out, turning and giving one last look to Sungmin and uttering his goodbyes before leaving. Sungmin stood with unspoken words lingering on the end of his tongue, watching him walk all the way down the corridor before closing the door. He walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa. The apartment suddenly felt so much bigger.
