Misunderstandings.

Torments In Powder Pink

“Boyfriend uh?” Kyuhyun repeated what Sungmin has said. “Boyfriend,” a devilish smirk was morphing his lips with every passing second, his eyes half lidded and sultry as he directed his gaze directly into Sungmin's eyes.

Sungmin started to shuffle under the deep gaze that felt like it was weighing him down, sticking him to his seat. When Kyuhyun began to shuffle closer to him, lifting his body off the sofa so that he was towering over him, his eyes never faltering in their gaze, Sungmin felt his body freeze. He felt uneasy, but he couldn't deny the heat that was settling in his chest.

Kyuhyun continued to move but then suddenly stopped and raised his eyes to look at the ceiling as if mulling over an idea. Then the smirk widened and he looked back to Sungmin. Hooking both hands under Sungmin's arms he effortlessly pulled him towards himself, settling his own body back down flat on the sofa. Letting go of one arm, he placed his hand on Sungmin's leg, bending it as he moulded Sungmin into a position where he was straddling his lap. With one leg over, he bent the other leg to match.

It all happened to quick that Sungmin was in utter shock. All he could do was look down at him from his new higher position while the sneaky man looked up at him smugly. He was evidently very pleased with how that went. Sungmin tried to climb off him but was stopped by swift hands clamping down on his hips holding him in place.

“Uh uh,” Kyuhyun sounded, slowly shaking his head informing Sungmin that he definitely was not going to let him leave that easily.

He kept one hand on Sungmin's hip but began to move the other one. He began by sliding it around Sungmin's hip slowly and across his back until he reached his spine. Feeling the hard protruding bump, Kyuhyun lifted his palm, removing his hand until only his finger-tips were in contact. Then he began to slide them upwards, moving over every bump, slowly. Tortuously slowly. The higher he got, the more Sungmin's breathing hitched. He couldn't deny that this felt good either. As he reached Sungmin's upper back, Kyuhyun began to lean forward. By the time he reached the neckline of his shirt, he was almost sat fully upright. Slowly, almost tentatively in contrast to his earlier movements, Kyuhyun grazed the skin of Sungmin's neck. Sungmin gasped in reaction, which seemed to stir Kyuhyun as his eyes blinked closed then back open, but not fully. Parting his lips slightly, Kyuhyun bit down on his bottom lip a little before using his hand on Sungmin's neck to pull him forward to close the distance between them. A muffled gasp emitted from Sungmin, stifled by the other's lips that were pressing into his with an almost bruising force.

As Sungmin relaxed, it was almost like they were picking up where they had left off, their lips once again moulding into each others in a hurried, passion-filled kiss. Lost in the moment, all initial shock dispersed, Sungmin pressed his hands to Kyuhyun's face, holding him close to him. Kyuhyun gripped tightly onto the back of Sungmin's neck, pulling him as close as was possible. His other hand on Sungmin's hip began to travel, sliding down and onto Sungmin's thigh, moving up and down before moving up to the hem of his shirt. Pausing as if in thought, Kyuhyun rubbed the material of Sungmin's shirt between his fingers before choosing just to risk it, delving his hand under Sungmin's shirt. At the feel of his warm hand, Sungmin jumped slightly, but didn't stop him this time. Kyuhyun took that as permission and slid his hand um Sungmin's side, all the way up to his armpit and across to his chest. Pausing in the centre, he felt Sungmin's heart beating. It was erratic. And in those few seconds, his mind had been made up for him. Bringing his exploring hand back down and meeting it with his other, he clutched at the hem of Sungmin's shirt. He slowed in his kisses and Sungmin noticed this. Feeling his hands holding onto his shirt, he slowly nodded, feeling confident in the moment. Without a moment's hesitation, Kyuhyun started to lift Sungmin's shirt, breaking apart from the kiss for a second to pull it over his head, tossing it to the side.

Shirt gone, he was able to explore fully, and he would savour every touch. Sungmin began to feel a little tense, but he forced it out of his mind, concentrating on kissing Kyuhyun. Deciding he would do a little exploring for himself, he removed his hands from Kyuhyun's cheeks and slid them down his chest to the hemline of his shirt, not even hesitating before delving under.

Feeling the two warm hands on his stomach, Kyuhyun halted in all his movements, grabbing Kyuhyun's writs tightly. As if he had touched something hot, Sungmin removed his hands and tried to bring them towards himself, but they were held in place just an inch away from Kyuhyun's body. Pulling away, Kyuhyun opened his eyes and looked at the stunned Sungmin with sympathetic eyes.

“I'm sorry....... I just don't know if I'm ready for you to touch me,” Kyuhyun tried to explain, only to fail and making the situation seem worse to Sungmin.

Yanking his hands away, Sungmin started to try to climb off Kyuhyun who tried to hold him in place.

“Don't Sungmin. Please......”

Trying to push his hands away, Sungmin turned and looked at Kyuhyun incredulously. “What? What the hell is wrong with you? Get off me.”

Kyuhyun complied, letting Sungmin climb off him. On the floor, he bent and recovered his shirt, replacing it.

“Don't take it the wrong way,” Kyuhyun pleaded leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees.

“Don't take it the wrong way? Don't take it the wrong way that you don't want me to touch you?” Sungmin was furious.

“It's not that I don't want you to touch me, its just that......” Kyuhyun began explaining, trying to reach out for him.

“Save it. We have to get ready to see Yesung and Ryeowook,” he announced, dismissing Kyuhyun's hand and stomping past him and into the bathroom.

When the door closed, Kyuhyun let out an audible huff, dropping his head down into his waiting hands and moving his head from side to side vigorously. This was their first proper tiff since they had been together and Kyuhyun didn't like it at all. He knew he'd said the wrong thing, and Sungmin had every right to be offended, but Kyuhyun had panicked, not really thinking through what he sound say before saying it. He just wished that Sungmin would have given him a chance to explain himself. He did want Sungmin to touch him – he wanted it so bad that he almost craved it – he just needed to clear things up before he let him; make him aware of certain insecurities.

Ten minutes later, Sungmin emerged from the shower, fully dressed with his hair wrapped up expertly in his towel. He didn't even look at Kyuhyun who was watching his every move from across the room in hope of eye contact. Sungmin just walking to his room and slammed the door shut behind him. Defeated, Kyuhyun took his turn in the shower. They only had half an hour left before they were supposed to be meeting Yesung and Ryeowook so he had better hurry.

When safe behind the bathroom door, Kyuhyun positioned himself in front of the large bathroom mirror. Scanning his reflection first, he reached for the he of his shirt, bringing it up and over his head in one swift movement. The image beneath made him wince. On his milky skin were two dark purple marks marring him, on on his lower stomach, on higher up and much larger. Staring at them, he ran his fingers over them slowly, tracing the contours of the silky silvery scars. He hated them and with every touch he willed them to disappear. But years of such actions had proved that it wasn't quite that simple. You couldn't make them go with mere hope. Tilting his head down and arching his back slightly, he scanned them closer, repeating the countless motion again, investigating to see if the scars really did look as bad as they did in his reflection. They did. Worse even. They looked bigger and more purple. And the more he looked, the more this grew.

He couldn't stand to look at them any longer so he stripped the rest of his clothes off and climbing into the shower. After making short work of cleaning himself, he stepped out of the shower – this time avoiding the mirror – and dried himself off partially, not caring about making his clothing wet as he pulled it back on. Exiting the shower he shuffled his way to his bedroom.

He looked in his cupboard for a few minutes mulling over what he should wear, pulling out a fer different tops then putting them back, finally deciding on the first on he had pulled out: a simple black shirt. He put it on, followed by a pair of black jeans and rolled the sleeves up to his elbows to make himself look more casual. Checking his image in the mirror, he ran his fingers through his hair, deciding just leave it to dry on its own cause it was just a mop anyway. He was long overdue a hair-cut. After grabbing his wallet and quickly spraying on some cologne, he stepped out of his bedroom.

Sungmin was ready and waiting, seated on the sofa again. Clad in a light blue shirt and dark blue jeans, his hair brushed over to the side, he looked handsome. From his stiff posture, Kyuhyun could tell he was still angry – or maybe upset – from earlier. The sound of Kyuhyun's door closing behind him stirred Sungmin and made him stand, bending to pull his skinny jeans down that had bunched up at his knees from sitting down. Without a word, he glided past Kyuhyun - who was looking to the floor – to the door and slipped on his shoes. Kyuhyun followed suit, placing his feet in his shoes quickly to follow Sungmin who had already exited through the door.

The journey to the designated restaurant was silent and awkward, with several failed hand holding attempts, ending in Sungmin quickly pulling away from the touch. Kyuhyun had given up after the second attempt.

When at the restaurant, Kyuhyun held the door open for Sungmin who breezed though, not even saying 'thank you'. They looked around, noticing Yesung and Ryeowook who were stood up at a table at the far side, flailing their arms around to get their attention.

“Hey!” Ryeowook shouted, pouncing at Sungmin and wrapping his arms around him. Leaning over to Kyuhyun, Yesung gave him a quick hug. Then they switched, hugging the other. Done with the initial pleasantries, they sat down.

“How've you both been? Not too bored with this bit of time off I hope.” Ryeowook asked, flicking his gaze between the two.

“Fine.....” both Kyuhyun and Sungmin began in unison, abruptly stopping at the sound of each others voice. After waiting awkwardly for a few seconds, Sungmin continued. “Its been fine, we have just been busying ourselves around the dorm. How about you two?”

Ryeowook smiled cheekily at Sungmin before looking at Yesung, then back to Sungmin, replying with: “Oh we've found things to do.....”

Yesung let out a quiet laugh before shushing Ryeowook to prevent him from elaborating.

Sungmin just smiled politely. He really didn't want to be here, but he would've felt bad letting them down after Ryeowook had sounded so excited on the phone.

Kyuhyun on the other hand had took it upon himself to start looking through the menu. He didn't want to be their either, but was going about it more rudely that Sungmin, making it very obvious.

“Seems Kyuhyun is eager to eat,” Yesung commented, eyeing Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun just looked up, nodded, then returned to the menu.

Yesung and Ryeowook didn't particularly mind as they were already used to Kyuhyun's rude behaviour, accepting it as part of his personality, but Sungmin on the other hand was extremely irritated by it. His already glowing embers of anger at Kyuhyun had just turned into a full blown fire. Reaching over, he yanked the menu out of Kyuhyun's hands, slamming it back down on the pile with a thud.

“We are not looking at those yet,” he informed him in a forceful voice, somewhat similar to that of a teacher telling a naughty pupil school rules. Kyuhyun just stared at him incredulously, his own anger beginning to brew.

Biting his lip to prevent himself from saying anything, he averted his gaze.

“So rude, “ Sungmin spat out, staring at Kyuhyun. That snapped the cord and Kyuhyun couldn't bite his tongue any longer,

“What?!” he asked, looking back at Sungmin with deeply furrowed eyebrows.

Seeing the look and feeling entirely un-intimidated by it, Sungmin repeated himself. “I said you are rude. I think you heard me the first time.”

“Yes I did hear you the first time, I just wanted to hear you repeat it,” his teeth were gritted now.

“Why would you act like this when we are out for a meal. It it ridiculous.”

“You have no idea why? Well I'm not going to spell it out for you.” Kyuhyun spat back.

Yesung and Ryeowook just looked between the two, mouths agape, not quite believing what was happening.

“Go on, why don't you enlighten me?” Sungmin asked, half smirking.

“You're unbelievable.” Kyuhyun shook his head and looked away. He didn't want to have this conversation any more.

“You're........” Sungmin began but was interrupted by a very forced laugh from Ryeowook.

“Guys guys, what's with all the hostility. Just leave it. Yesung and I don't mind that Kyuhyun was looking at the menu. We're actually happy he's eager to eat. He's skinny, need to put some weight on.”

Taking this as a signal to just stop for now, Sungmin looked to Ryewook and smiled, offering his a simple apology. Kyuhyun did the same.

“Good, now lets order.”

Everyone picked up their menus except Kyuhyun who, after the outburst Sungmin just gave, felt more than reluctant to even look. In fact his appetite had almost completely gone. He wanted to be there less than ever now. Sungmin had little appetite too but was making the effort for Ryeowook and Yesung, whilst trying to push Kyuhyun from his mind.

Having chosen, they all ordered and waited for the food to be ready. They waited an uncomfortable ten minutes for it to be done, during which time no words were spoken, the only acknowledgements of company being quick glances. When the food arrived, Ryeowook practically jumped for joy. They ate in equal silence.

After managing a minuscule half of his meal, poking and prodding at the rest, Sungmin excused himself to the bathroom. Ryeowook had watched him poking at his food and had chosen to follow him to the bathroom so he could speak to him on his own and make sure he was okay.

“Sungmin, wait, I'm coming too,” he shouted, hurrying in his step to catch up to Sungmin who had paused and looked round at him.

Yesung watched them leave, Kyuhyun continued to push his own food around his plate having only eaten a few bites. Taking the opportunity of them being alone, Yesung spoke up.

“Are you okay Kyuhyun? You don't seem it,” he had his rare serious voice on so Kyuhyun could tell he was concerned. “Only you and Sungmin never fight like that. What happened?”

Lifting his eyes quickly as if contemplating telling Yesung the real reason, Kyuhyun looked at him for a few seconds before pushing the truth aside and looking back down.

“I get it, you don't want to tell me. Fair enough. Just don't push Sungmin too far or whatever, he seems tough on the outside but really he is easily hurt.” He extended out his hand and placed it carefully on Kyuhyun's, making him halt in his movements. “I know how important you two are to each other so I hope you can both work it out.”

Feeling the connotations behind Yesung's words, Kyuhyun looked up again and met Yesung's gaze, offering him a simple smile as n acknowledgement that he had taken on board what he had said to him.

When in the bathroom, Ryeowook wasted no time in interrogating Sungmin.

“Sungmin, what's wrong? I've never seen you and Kyuhyun fight like that!”

Seeing Ryeowook's worry filled expression, Sungmin couldn't help himself from breaking down, tears filling his eyes and falling softly down his cheeks. In an attempt to quell, he pressed his hands to his eyes, but was blocked by tissues that were pressed to his face by a quick thinking Ryeowook.

“It's okay. Why are you crying?” Ryewook explored concerned.

“Oh Wookie. I feel so confused.” Sungmin confessed, tears falling even more now in to the awaiting tissues. “Kyu and I...... we are....... oh Wookie, I just don't know any more.......”

Putting his arms around him, Ryeowook attempted to comfort him. “shhhhhhhhhhh, calm down.... You and Kyu what? What's happened?”

At the moment when Sungmin had mentioned him and Kyuhyun, he hadn't quite been thinking straight but hearing it from Ryeowook now, it sunk in.

“Oh Wookie, forget I said anything. There is nothing wrong with me and Kyuhyun,” he attempted to explain, only to be foiled by the tears that fell again after saying Kyuhyun's name.

Pulling his best 'yeah whatever' face, Ryeowook spoke again: “Sungmin, do you honestly think I can't see straight though that lie? Now tell me the truth.”

“I can't. You don't want to hear the truth. Just please believe me when I say there is nothing.” Sungmin pleaded.

Looking his straight in the face in an attempt to read his thoughts, Ryeowook replied with a simple question: “Is there more than friendship between you and Kyuhyun?”

This stirred a reaction other than tears, rousing Sungmin to stare at Ryeowook incredulously. “What? No! Why would you think that?”

Smiling simply, Ryeowook replied: “oh please, do you think I'm stupid? I know a lovers tiff when I see one.” Putting an arm around him, he pulled him closer, pressing the side of his face close to Sungmin's. “ No need to be embarrassed, I'm happy that something has eventually happened. I was getting bored of waiting.” He finished on a laugh.

Placing his own arms around Ryeowook, Sungmin spoke: “Well I guess there is no use in denying it,” to which Ryeowook nodded. “We should probably head back.”

“We should, but can I just ask what you were arguing about in the first place cause that can't have all come from Kyuhyun looking at the menu,” he asked letting go of Sungmin.

Shuffling his feet, Sungmin had an inner debate about telling him. “well we....... er....... we”.

“No need to be shy, I'm sure I am no stranger to anything you have to say.”

“We...... We were kissing and I tried to........ never mind. Lets go back,” and before Ryeowook could question further, Sungmin was out of the bathroom and on his way back to the table.

When they sat down, Yesung smiled at both of them. “Where have you been? Powdering your noses? I've paid the bill. We can go now.” This promoted them and they all got up and left the restaurant. Outside they said their goodbyes, sharing lengthy hugs before going their separate ways; Yesung and Ryeowook to meet up with other friends, Sungmin and Kyuhyun going back home.

The walk home was just as silent, if not more so, than the walk to the restaurant. This time Kyuhyun didn't even attempt to hold Sungmin's hand. The steady walk up the stairs of their apartment block was made in single file, Sungmin leading the way. Inside the dorm, Sungmin kicked off his shoes and walked straight towards his bedroom. His hand had just settled on the door handle when he was paused by Kyuhyun's words.

“If you want to end this, we can.......” his voice was stoic and matter-of-fact.

Sungmin stayed still staring at the door, feeling unable to turn towards Kyuhyun's voice. “Is that what you want?” He was shaking as he tried to keep his voice as unfeeling as the questioner's.

“It isn't. But if its what you want then I guess there's nothing I can do.” The response was quick. When no reply came, Kyuhyun took it as the worst and spoke again. “Okay then..... but first I want to show you something.”

He walked forward quickly and stopped behind Sungmin. After taking a few moments, breathing deeply, he reached for Sungmin's wrist, using it to pull him after him into his own bedroom, turning on the light. Sungmin felt dazed so was malleable at this moment. Pushing him down so he was seated on the bed, Kyuhyun stood before him.

“I don't want you thinking the wrong thing about what happened earlier, and since you didn't give me a chance to explain, I will just show you,” he finished reaching for the top button of his shirt. Holding it between his fingertips he closed his eyes and took a deep breath before beginning to slide the button out of its partnering hole. Then he moved over the other, repeating the action in slow succession. Sungmin's eyes were fixed on Kyuhyun's hands, traversing over the skin that was being exposed. When Kyuhyun reached half way he paused for a few seconds, taking in another deep breath before continuing. When he reached the last button he pushed the shirt tentatively off one shoulder, sliding his arm out while hold the other side of his shirt to his chest with his other arm. They he slid that one out two, holding the shirt to him almost reluctant to let go before letting it drop to the floor. Holding his arms stiff by his sides, his fingers flexing and closing with nerve, he looked to the floor.

Sungmin's eyes moved slowly over Kyuhyun's fully exposed chest, his eyes focusing on the large scars that cut across his milky white skin. Of course he thought. How could he have not realised. He felt stupid. Eyes softening, he looked to Kyuhyun's face, but his eyes were still glued to the floor.

Now you know. You can go now,” Kyuhyun spoke, his voice wavering slightly, reaching down to pick up his discarded shirt. His arms was stopped just as his fingertips grazed the shirt by sudden contact on his arm. This contact then pulled him towards the bed. Placing a tentative hand either side of his waist, Sungmin pulled him towards himself, making him pause just before him. His face was now directly in front of the large scar on Kyuhyun's upper abdomen, making Kyuhyun try to take a swift step backwards.

Don't,” Sungmin spoke simple, lifting a hand up and tracing his finger gently – almost uncertain – over the purple scar. Kyuhyun flinched at the contact, his shoulders and stomach muscles tensing beneath the touch. Sungmin didn't notice, instead moved up and down unhurriedly. When he'd had enough of the biggest one, he moved onto the next and repeated the action, dotting his fingers on the little ones that littered around on the way. Kyuhyun was nervous, but it tickled slightly, easing his mind. No one but him had never touched his scars before.

I'm sorry Kyu,” he offered, reaching out at kissing the biggest scar lightly. “I'm sorry.”

At the feel, Kyuhyun couldn't help himself, melting to his knees and flinging his arms around Sungmin who instantly returned the gesture.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry.”

Shhhhhhhh, don't apologise,” Kyuhyun quietened. “I should of told you.”

No Kyu, I should have known. I was stupid to have never even considered it,” Sungmin said pulling away and holding Kyuhyun's face in his hands.

But I should have told you instead of pushing you away. I'm such an idiot.”

No,” Sungmin said definitely, planting a soft kiss on Kyuhyun's cheek. “No, no, no, no” he repeated, kissing a different part of his face after each no. Kyuhyun couldn't help but smile. “I don't blame you for panicking. I should have realised and let you show me when you were ready.”

At these word Kyuhyun couldn't help himself from pulling Sungmin to him again and holding him in a tight embrace. Sungmin held him back, his hand up and down his back.

I love you.”
