‘I’m sorry Hyun Ae, but I’m going to have to keep that as a secret. Forever’ Luhan continued to stare at Hyun Ae

“Sunbae? Can you tell me?” Hyun Ae leaned in to take a closer look at Luhan. At the same time the boys pushed Luhan to Hyun Ae, lessening the space that was in between them.

“Luhan, Hyun Ae, we’ll see you guys” SuHo patted Luhan and Hyun Ae in the back and started walking off together with the rest of the boys.

“Yah! Where are you going!?!” Luhan shouted at them

“Hyung!” Chanyeol looked back at the two figures “Fighting!” he then smiled brightly and continued to walk

“Sunbae, what are they talking about?” Hyun Ae blinked her eyes a few times. Luhan found it really cute and he wanted to pinch her cheeks like how he used to, but times have changed. This wasn’t the time to do that now. It was the past and it deserved to be in the past…

“Oh nothing” Luhan said flatly “About what I said yesterday” he remembered it now. Today was supposed to be the day that he wanted to take his relationship with Hyun Ae to the next level. Today was supposed to be the day he takes off Hyun Ae’s name on his friend’s list. He was supposed to ask her out. To be his girlfriend and do the things those lovers would do. But they’d experienced it already. It was the best part of his life but it was the worst too, for Hyun Ae on that matter.

‘Hyun Ae yah, will you be my girlfriend?’ he thought. That was what he was supposed to say “It was nothing, I just wanted to thank you for making me lunch the other week. Sorry if it was a bother to you” he said instead. He sighed in relief, thankful that he remembered Hyun Ae’s bento box that she made especially for him. He remembered jumping up and down when he received it from Hyun Ae and how touching it was but he can’t show that side anymore. He didn’t want to do it all over again. If he did, everything will just be the same. And that meant him hurting Hyun Ae, and maybe for this lifetime, if he asked her out, he’d hurt her twice as much.

“Ahhh!” Hyun Ae nodded her head “It’s alright” Luhan could see the disappointed expression from Hyun Ae. He was sorry, he felt like a total jerk right now. Luhan knew that she had a crush on him from way before because Hyun Ae told him when they started dating. Now, he can’t even tell Hyun Ae how much he loves her too but it was better this way. It was better to stop now than feel regretful later.

“Y-yeah. Uh-mm. Hyun Ae yah, I-I have to go now, I’m running late for class. A-annyeong!” Luhan waved at Hyun Ae awkwardly while she bowed and smiled

“Arrasso sunbaenim. I’ll be going too. I’ll see you around” She bowed again and walked away from Luhan. He glanced one last time at her back view before turning around

‘Mianhe Hyun Ae. Jeongmal Mianhe (I’m sorry Hyun Ae. I’m really sorry)’ he thought as he slowly made his way to his class

It was lunch and he could now see his friends waiting patiently for him at their usual table. He could see their happy faces, anticipating his good news. Luhan remembered how happy they were when Hyun Ae said yes to him

*Flashback*

“Hyun Ae.” Luhan nervously called for Hyun Ae’s name

“Ne sunbaenim?” her eyes widened in curiosity, patiently waiting for his response

“You see, we have been good friends for quite a while now and uh-hmm. Ithinkweshoulddate” Luhan said the last line quickly making Hyun Ae scrunch her eyebrows in confusion

“Mianhe sunbaenim but I didn’t quite get what you said in the end. Could you please repeat it for me?”

“I-I said t-that w-we s-s-should d-d-date” he looked down in huge embarrassment. Hyun Ae smiled at his shy reaction

“Hey, what’s with that look. Fine, I take back what I said then” his cheeks were as red as tomatoes

“Ne” Hyun Ae said

“Ne? You mean I should take back what I said?” he pouted and scrunched his eyebrows displaying a cute facial expression

“Pabo… I meant yes. Yes, I’d love to have a date with you sunbaenim”

“Jinja?!?” Luhan enlarged his eyes in astonishment “Jinja!?! Jinja!?!”

“Ne. Jinja” she giggled and screamed when Luhan suddenly swept her from her feet and swirled her around

“SHE’S GOING TO GO ON A DATE WITH ME! WE’RE DATING!” Luhan screamed, earning glances from the students that were surrounding them

“Yah! Don’t say it out loud. It’s embarrassing” Hyun Ae covered her face to avoid the people’s judgemental gazes.

But Luhan didn’t care “It’s never embarrassing when it’s you Hyun Ae. I don’t care what other people think. They can say whatever they want to say, I don’t mind” Luhan cupped Hyun Ae’s hand and pressed it against his chest “As long as I can be with you. I don’t care what the world views me as”

“Arrasso. Komawo sunbaenim” she said to him

“One more thing” he leaned in closer to Hyun Ae “Don’t call me sunbaenim anymore. I feel really old” he pinched her nose playfully “Try calling me oppa”

“Ok…o-oppa” Hyun Ae felt her cheeks warming in both awkwardness and joy

“Good girl!” he pinched her cheeks this time “Ok, it’s time to go to class now”

“Yes. I’ll see you sunbaenim!” she said but Luhan her into an embrace. Tightly

“This is a punishment” Luhan said while cuddling onto her shoulders “It’s oppa. If you forget again, I don’t know what I’d do to you” he retreated from the hug and smirked. He could see the shocked expression from Hyun Ae ‘She’s so cute’ he thought and looked through his bag. Luhan grabbed a paper and a pen then he handed what he wrote to Hyun Ae

“I’ll see you there Hyun Ae.” Luhan waved to her while looking back “Annyeong!” With that, he made his way to class

Hyun Ae waved back and finally unfolded the paper that Luhan gave her

“Mount Mongmyeok (Namsan). 11:00, don’t be late or I’ll be upset! *pouty face*” she smiled in delight as she stared at Luhan’s back view

*End of flashback*

Luhan almost cried in despair while quickly looking back at the past. He wanted to do it again but he can’t. He wouldn’t dare to. He took more steps and was now coming closer to their table. What hurt him the most is that they’re expecting a good news. But he can’t have that happiness anymore. Never again

As he sat down to the table, his gaze landed on Kris. ‘Thank you for everything. It’s now time for me to return that favour back’ he said in his thoughts
