“Annyeong!” Luhan smiled forcefully at his circle of friends “What’s for lunch?” he said while looking at their individual plates then he looked up and saw all their eyebrows rose. He knew what it was all about.

“Yah Luhan, don’t try and avoid what we’re waiting for” He eyed him closely “So what did she say?”

“Nothing” Luhan replied while sipping in his bottle of coke

“Mwuh?!?” Sehun covered his mouth in surprise “Our hyung got rejected”

“Wah! That’s a first hyung” Baekhyun tapped his shoulder to console him “Oh wait, she’s the first girl you confessed to. It must have been really hard”

“Mianhe hyung, we should have been there to support you” Chanyeol looked down in shame “Come, let us hug you”

One by one they crowded Luhan into a hug

“Yah! Don’t come near” Luhan shouted but it was too late and worse everyone in the cafeteria can see what they’re doing

“Awww…such a cute brotherly scene” said a random girl

“Omo, that’s just so gay!” a boy commented

“I want to be hugged like that!” Luhan heard another comment ‘Ah jinja! This is so embarrassing!’ he thought while slapping their hands away from him

Then he noticed the bystander that refused to come near him. Kris Wu Yi Fan

“Paboya?” he crossed his arms towards his chest. Luhan could see his cold expression and his eyes travelling towards his direction. That unfriendly aura surrounded the table making everyone stop and the rest of the people in the cafeteria looked at them in worry.

“You’re such a coward” he threw yet another ill-disposed response

“Hyung what are you talking about?” SuHo asked “What’s gotten into you these days? I get that you’re the so called ‘Ice Prince’ but you’re crossing the line”

Luhan could only stare at the two boys about to lay their hands on each other. Only he knows why Kris had been giving them his cold side, he knew because it was exactly like the past.

“You want to know? Why don’t you ask him yourself” Kris pointed to Luhan

“Hyung? Wae? What happened back there?” Chen looked at Luhan in curiosity

“I didn’t ask her out” he said while looking down

“Wae andwae?!” Kai looked at Luhan then to Kris “And hyung, how did you know?”

“That’s not important” Kris looked at him with a cold gaze then he fixed his vision to Luhan’s way “What’s important is that you explain why you didn’t do it”

Luhan looked at Kris’s eyes. He can see hatred in it but this was totally different from before. He could remember how he forcefully smiled back then regardless of his pain…

*Flashback*

Hyun Ae continued to smile as she was on her way to her class. She was so happy that Luhan asked her out

“Hyun Ae yah” A man that was hiding behind the tree whispered. A tear trickled down his face “I hope you’re happy with him”

“Kris” Luhan said from behind him

“Ahh!” he jumped in fright “Yah! Don’t scare me like that!”

Luhan noticed the wet texture that surrounded Kris’s face “Were you crying?”

“Aniyo! What are you talking about?” he blinked off the tears that were threatening to fall “Why would I cry?” he wiped the evidences that were plastered on his face

Then Luhan embraced him into a hug “Kamsahamnida chingu. For being such a good friend. For giving me a chance to have Hyun Ae”

“Eiii!” he ruffled Luhan’s head “Why are you thanking me? She likes you back, the feeling’s mutual, that means you two are meant to be”

Luhan stared at Kris after retreating from the hug “But--“

“No but’s, don’t worry about me. Go and be happy” Kris smiled “For now, let’s go to class”

“Kaja!”

*End of flashback*

If it wasn’t for Kris who gave way to him, he wouldn’t have had a chance to love Hyun Ae. If it wasn’t for Kris who chose friendship over his growing feelings, he wouldn’t have enjoyed the precious memories Hyun Ae and him had shared. Right now Kris is showing his great detest to him. He doesn’t blame him at all. He knows how disappointed Kris is right now. Kris had given him multiple chances to be with Hyun Ae and now that he had finally decided to ask her out, he didn’t.

“You said you liked her” Kris let out a scoff “But you stood there like an idiot saying that you only wanted to thank her for the bento box”

“Kris” Luhan could only say his name in whisper. Same scenario had happened. Kris eavesdropped when he was proposing to Hyun Ae. The only difference was, before he cried in defeat but now it was anger. And anger can lead to revenge which he vowed to accept.

Kris was now walking towards his direction then stopped when he was in line with Luhan’s body “I gave you this chance Luhan” He sighed and paused for a while “But this was the only chance that I forced myself to accept. I did that for you. I may not know what your reason for refusing to ask her out, I simply don’t care anymore” he looked at Luhan’s side view and said “I just wish that you won’t regret what you have done, because I won’t hold back this time” he walked off and slammed the doors cafeteria

‘Good choice Kris’ he swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat to stop his tears from falling ‘Take care of her. I know you can love Hyun Ae more than I could’ve ever loved her’
