A week had already passed yet Seohyun was still struggling from the answers she was looking for. She keeps on avoiding Kyuhyun and spends more time with her fiancée hoping to organize the pre occupied mind of her. Yuri and Nickhun on the other hand are busy drafting some wedding preparations since their father and the elders decided to tie the knot before the year ends.

“Unnie, Is Yong oppa here already?”Seohyun ask as she enter the living room

“Anni, Why? Do you have any plans tonight?” Yuri asked

“Do you forgot our dinner today with appa?”

“Omo!Aigoo! What time is it? How about the foods?” Yuri panicked

“Relax unnie, everything is fine, I’ve prepared them well” Seohyun in her calm voice said

“MianhaeHyunnie” Yuri apologizes to her dongsaeng

“It’s alright unnie, I know that you are busy with that wedding thingy. I’ll just call Yong oppa” she said and went to get her phone when he just came in.

“Hey Hyun, I am sorry for being late. I waited for eomma to finish packing this since she insisted to make me brought it here” Yong said showing the neatly wrapped kimchi

“It’s okay oppa, you are just in time.”

“Good evening Bro, Good evening Yuri ah” He greeted them

“Come on, let’s set the table then”Seohyun invited him and the young man follows behind her

As the two went through the kitchen, the other couple look them from afar.

“Honestly, they do look good together” Khyun said

“Deh, But I guess Hyun just need to know him better. It’s nice that they are spending more time together” Yuri commented

“Yong is a good man, if that is what you are worried about. I’ve known him for many years already” Khun blurted out

“I know and I can see it but I still care for what my sister’s heart beat for” she said

Later on, Mr. Kwon arrived and they finally shared a dinner together.

“So, what are your plans after graduation gentlemen?” Mr. Kwon asked the two of them

“Besides being busy with the wedding preparation, I’ll be joining my dad in running the family business sir” Khun politely said

“That’s good and you should start call be dad since its already few months left.”

“Deh sir… I mean appa”

“Good, how about you Yonghwa? Surely be taking over the company since you’re the eldest”

“Yes sir, that’s my father’s only wish but still I want to pursue my dream of opening up a music studio” Yonghwa politely answered

“That is good, fulfilling parent’s dream yet never fails to abandon one’s personal dream. So, Congratulations to your upcoming graduation. I’ll go up first for I have some works to do. Appa is at the study room if you need something okay?” Mr. Kwon stood up from his seat and was about to proceed the study room

“I forgot some folders in my car; it’s on the dashboard I guess.”

“I’ll just go get it dad” Seohyun volunteered and went out

Seohyun was about to go back inside when she doubt herself seeing a human physique outside their yard. She went over to get a clear vision and saw a man kneeling down facing their house.

“Excuse me ajusshi… but what are you doing outside our house?” she asked in her soft and sweet voice.

The man slowly look up and much to her consciousness, he was indeed familiar.

“O..oppa? What are you doing here? How long have you been kneeling down? Stand up now, it’s quite cold in here” she said and moves closer to him

“I texted you that I want to talk to you but you wouldn’t reply, you even drop my calls and worst you keep on avoiding me at school. I know that you are a woman of value but what I can’t understand is you can’t give me one valid reason why can’t we be together? I won’t go home until you answer me” Kyuhyun said with full determination

“Oppa, don’t be like this, please I’m begging you to stand up now. I told you already that we can’t be and we should remain as friends. Please oppa, you’ll be frozen to death here” She said worriedly to him but he is persistent enough to know the answer

“I am already at a dying state Hyun, I am miserable can’t you see it?” He said with teary eyes

“Oppa, I don’t want to see you like these, please oppa” She grabbed his arms to get up but he is as stubborn as she is.

“Just give me an answer Hyun, just an answer then I will get up and won’t trouble you for the rest of your life”

“Oppa…… okay… we can’t be oppa… because …”

“Because what?”

“I am engaged already” she said in her lowest and trembling voice ever but surely being heard by him on its loudest decibel.

“What? Don’t play prank on me Hyun… hahahahaha” He laughed sarcastically “What a great alibi” he continue to laugh so loud and Seohyun even felt worse than the past month.

“Get up now oppa, it hurts me to see you being like this, you are good man oppa, you deserve someone better than me. We can’t be together like you want it to be”

“Someone better? Huh!!! No one is better than you Hyun, you are more than enough… please Hyun, tell me your joking, right?”

Seohyun was indeed hurt seeing Kyuhyun to be in such a state especially that she is the one who cause his sufferings and it hurts her more thinking about it. She continues to beg him to stand up not even noticing that they already have an audience at front.

“Kwon Seohyun” Mr Kwon firmly said with crossing brows

“Appa?”Seohyun was shocked seeing his father and the rest of the people looking at them but Kyuhyun quickly got up and went to Mr Kwon and kneel down in front of him.

“Mr Kwon, I am very sorry for causing such trouble for your daughter and disturbing your home especially at this hour. Forgive me for my boldness, but can I have a time to speak with you Mr. Kwon”

“It is very cold outside young man, come inside and let us continue the conversation inside” Mr. Kwon said and went inside with Kyuhyun following him behind

Mr Kwon let Kyuhyun took a warm tea before starting the conversation. They were inside his office while the two girls especially Seohyun is trying to eavesdrop outside.

“So, tell me, what is your agenda for kneeling down outside the house?” Mr Kwon started the talk

“Sir, my only intention is to talk to your daughter, Seohyun. It is for the reason that she is obviously avoiding me at school and won’t respond to any of my text message”

“hmmm… That is not an attitude of my mangnae, may I know what happened before she did such behaviour, my daughter must have been triggered to do such” he said calmly while taking a sip of his tea

“ahmm… aaaa… I … Actually, I confess my love for her sir” he bravely said then looks down

“Is that so? How did my Seohyun respond?” he curiously ask

“She didn’t give me an exact reason of rejecting me and that is what I am trying to know till now”

“Do you love my daughter, Mr Cho?” Mr Kwon ask looking him in his pair of brown eyes and without hesitation, he answer him back

“Deh, Mr Kwon. I love her more than I could think of. It may seem an exaggeration but I am very much willing to do anything just to let her know how much I love her. Honestly Mr Kwon, I was not totally hurt because of the rejection but I was devastated not knowing the truth behind, it is like torturing me inside. She told me a while ago that she is already engaged and I don’t know if I am hearing it right or just being hilarious. I have waited years before I can tell her but I wasn’t given enough time to show her how I feel. All I know is I do really love your daughter Mr Kwon”

Kyuhyun can no longer hold back his tears, it may be embarrassing enough but he is just being true to himself.

Mr Kwon was indeed moved by the young man’s words. He felt the authenticity behind those every word he utter. He felt very happy for meeting someone who has loved her daughter much like the way he do but felt sad for it may be too late before he meets him. A question suddenly struck to his mind “DOES HE MADE THE RIGHT DECISION”

“I do envy your determination and most especially your honesty. I appreciate your courage to face the father of the one you love. But, I am very sorry but I can’t let my daughter be with you. It’s true, she is already engaged”

Kyuhyun’s eyes widen, can’t believe of hearing the same words from her earlier. Engaged? The words keep on repeating on his head.

“E..en..gaged?” he slowly utter

“I guess you may know him, you’ve seen him a while ago. He is with the same university with her, Jung Yonghwa”

“Yonghwa?” he thought, another spear hit his heart, the man he consider as his great competitor, rival or whatever you may call it. Unknowingly, he already lost even before the battle begun.

“It has been a couple of years already since their engagement, the elder of both families have decided to unite the two of them. Of course my daughter didn’t accept it whole heartedly at first; I can see her struggle on how to adjust to her situation but gladly Yonghwa exert some effort for them to be okay. I can see a great development between the two of them and I am very much happy about it. I may not know you very well but I can truly feel how genuine your love for my daughter. I guess you have many happy memories together and I want you to hold on that and make that asan inspiration to stood up. Mr Cho, in this battle we called life; acceptance is always a key to succeed. We may loss in each station but it doesn’t mean it’s already a game over. Failure is not an option my son, it is not the end” Mr Kwon said and tap his shoulder

Silence was then an only response from him. He conveys all the words as much as he could then make a decision, the hardest one during his existence.

“I understand Mr Kwon. Even though how much I love your daughter but I can’t afford to cause another pain for her to suffer for I have given her too much. Mr Kwon, can I ask a favour if you wouldn’t mind?”

“A favour? What is it?”

“Would you mind not to tell Seohyun what we have talked earlier but instead tell her to stop avoiding me too much. I promise not to go in between their relationship. I am very much willing to accept the fact that we can’t go beyond as I dream of but not having her as a friend is totally a great loss for someone like me. Please Mr Kwon, Thank you”

“You are totally a good man Mr Cho, You are indeed well raised up by you parents. I keep our conversation till here and I will try to talk my daughter about it. Thank you for having a good heart, I am very much pleased to meet a good man like you”

“Thank you again Mr Kwon, also I apologize for the trouble I cause you and your family. I better go now, it is quite late. Thank you also for the great tea.” Kyuhyun then bid goodbye and left the office then saw the woman she had given up.

“Oppa” she call

“I am very sorry Hyun for all the troubles I cause, don’t worry it won’t happen anymore. I finally understand everything. I do hope we can still be friends like before” he said and try to cast a smile on his face

“Kyu”

“Hey, take care of her or I’ll surely beat you up” he said and tap his shoulder

That night, others may say that he had lost but for him he gains something. He learned the true essence of love. He learned that love isn’t only be with the one you love, doing everything to be with her or win over other opponents, instead Love is more on giving, letting someone know that you love them is enough already. Accept other’s decision since love isn’t a one way process. Being happy to her choice even if it means letting her go can still be called LOVE.
