Jang Mi and Donghae were like frozen as they saw Yunho at the door.

Surprise is written all over his face.

He felt like his heart stopped beating. He looked away to lessen the pain.

There was silence for a long while.

And then Yunho laughed bitterly.

He walked closer to Jang M and gave her the flower he’s holding but didn’t say any word. He just smiled and then turned his back and walked towards the door.

 
“Oopa, wait!” Jang Mi exclaimed.

She quickly followed Yunho steps.

She wanted to explain. She knew she has hurt him so much.

But even before she could take one more step to follow him, Donghae suddenly had a grip of her arm. He was trying to stop her from following Yunho.
She looked at Donghae.

It was so awkward staring at him in the eyes.

Besides that, there are so many things that run inside her mind.

And she’s sure of one thing.

She has hurt someone just right this moment.

“Jang Mi…Please stay.”
She heard him say. She doesn’t know what it means at all.
Jang Mi’s guilt is building up.

“Oopa… I can’t. I’m sorry.” She pulled her hand off his grip.

Donghae was left in the room as Jang Mi then ran after Yunho.

Yunho was at the school’s lobby, almost near the exit gate.

“Oopa! Wait! Let me explain.” She called him.
Yunho stopped walking.

Jang finally reached him.

“Oopa…”
“Jang Mi. You don’t have to explain. I know you love him still. It’s just I’m so stupid to believe that I have that chance.”
“Oopa, it’s not what you think.”
“It is Jang Mi. I came here to surprise you. I guess I was the one who was surprised. Anyway, I still have the feeling that this will come. Thank you still for giving me that chance.”

Yunho took a step away from Jang Mi. But then Jang held him.
“Oopa, I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you.”

She saw the pain Yunho is feeling at the moment. His eyes are giving it all away.

“Don’t be sorry for me.” Yunho smiled bitterly. He then walked away.

Jang Mi was left standing alone. Her eyes started to blur because of the tears building in her eyes.

She then heard steps coming near her.

When she looked around she saw Donghae walking towards her.

She knew he saw her tears so she turned her back to hide them.

This is really insane. Is it this hard to make Min Ah’s wishes come true?

She wanted to disappear from right where she’s standing.

She doesn’t want him to see her tears and pity her.

Donghae walked closer to her. But Jang Mi won’t let him. She felt like she’ll be making another mistake once she let Donghae get near her. If he’ll touch her once more she’ll melt again.

No. Not this time.

So she started walking away from him.

Jang Mi just found herself seated inside her car crying.

Why is it like this? Whatever I do, it ends up hurting me. Now I have hurt Yunho who gave me nothing else but love.

Her tears continued to fall.

And Donghaeya… I’m not Min Ah. I never could replace her. I can’t be a substitute.

She knew she loves Donghae but she has to forget that feeling now.

I had to leave things behind now. I’ve cost Yunho so much pain. I’m the worst person right now.

She rested her head on the stirring wheel.

What have I done….
Besides… It’s the last day already. Maybe it’s just right to stick to what I promised myself. I won’t allow him to see me as Min Ah again. Seven days are enough.

She then remembered her promise to Donghae’s mom.
“I have no choice. Mianhe Auntie.”

She then dialed a number on her cellphone.
“Yoboseyo? Uncle it’s me Jang Mi. Uncle… I wanna see you.”

AFTER A MONTH

Jang Mi is already working for his uncle. Her uncle gives her projects and she tries her best not to fail his expectations. She tries her best to work efficiently. She hopes being busy will help her forget the wounds she’s nursing inside her.

She never saw Donghae again after that night. Neither Yunho. She only hears news and updates from the people in their company. But she never saw them in person.

But like before even though how hard she tries to forget, she still loves Donghae so much. And she never thinks anyone could replace him in her heart.

“Annyeong!” Somebody greeted her from her office’s door.
“Uncle! Come in!”
The old man came in and took a seat.
“So how do you like the office?”
”It’s perfect! I love it here! Thanks for letting me in.”
“No… thanks for coming here.”
She smiled. She’s so lucky to have an uncle like this man. He was her savior ever since.

“Okay then. I’ll better leave now. I think I’m disturbing you.”
“Of course not!”
The old man laughed. He then walked towards the door.
“Uhm… Uncle?”
“Yes?”
“Please keep your promise.”
“Of course my dear. I’ll keep him under my wings. Don’t worry I’ll take good care of him.” His uncle smiled.
She smiled too.
“Thanks a lot!”

She was referring to Donghae.
She has to fulfill her promise to Donghae’s mom.
If she can’t do it personally, she thinks her uncle can.

After work, she then went home to her new apartment her uncle bought for her. She didn’t ask him to purchase that for her but he insisted. He said that he wanted to make sure that she’ll be living comfortably. The apartment was nicely built and really suits her taste. What could she ask for more?

She then locked her car and walked towards her apartment when she heard her phone rang.

“Yoboseyo?”
“Jang Mi?”
“Yes, who is this please?”
“It’s Michi. “

Michi is her friend and an employee of her uncle.

“Jang Mi, I’m so sorry.”
“Why?”
“I slipped.”
“What? I don’t get it.”
“Leeteuk asked me where to find you… and I some kinda…. told him.”
“What? Why did you do that? You know what might happen right?
“Yeah I know. That’s why I called.”
“Why are you with Leeteuk anyway?
“We went out. We’re kinda dating.” Michi said giggling.

“Wait! So that’s why you told him where to find me because you’re dating?”
“No! I was some kinda drunk. I really have no intentions of telling him.”

Jang Mi then saw an image of a man afar.
She knew that person very well.

She felt like heart stopped beating.

Oh my God.

It was Donghae.
There was a great tug-o-war inside her.

She’s happy and sad at the same time.

Happy because he saw him again and sad because the pain resurfaced.

“Yoboseyo? Jang Mi? Are you still there?”
“Uh… yes. I’ll call you later Michi.”

She then hangs up and started walking fast so not to give Donghae any chance to come near her.
 

No, not again.

But Donghae was fast and caught her arm even before she could walk further.

“Jang Mi wait! Why are avoiding me?”
“I…I’m not avoiding you.”
“Then why don’t you answer my calls? I went to your house but your mom won’t tell me where to find you?”
“I… I’m ….I’m just so busy. That’s all.”
“So busy? Why all of a sudden?”
“I’m really busy.”
“So the kiss has nothing to do with all of this?”

After hearing him say it she then started walking away from him again. Now she’s doubling her steps.
“Hey wait! Why are you always avoiding me?” Said Donghae who caught her arms again.
“I said I’m not avoiding you.”
“So why can’t I reach you?”

Jang Mi pretended not to hear him but every word he says sunk into her.
She moved faster until she reached her apartment.

Donghae ran after her.

“What happened to you? Why all of a sudden? Are you mad at me? I wanted to know. Did that kiss has something to do with this?”
“Just let me be, Donghae.”
“How could I do that if you’re not telling me why?”
Now they’re like shouting at each other.

“You wanna know why? Huh!”
“Yes! I wanna know! So tell me!”

She breathed deeply and gathered all her strength.

“It’s because I’m so tired of you! You never saw me as Jang Mi! You see me as Min Ah! I’m not her Donghae. Min Ah died already. Please stop looking at me as if I was her!”
“I don’t get it… I mean….”
“I know you get it! And you know what? I hate you! I hate you so much! Of all people why is it you”
“What do you mean?” Donghae is now troubled with every word he hears.
Jang Mi’s tears began to fall. Now she can’t hold herself anymore.
“Of all the people, why is it you? Why do I have to love you! I loved you the moment you came into my life I loved you for seven long years!”

Donghae was more than surprised.
