Though you invited them, you didn't really expect for them to accept it. “Well then, let's go!”You smiled. “Joo Ri, everything okay?” Sehun asked. “Yep! They're coming with us,” you told them. “What?!” He exclaimed. “Yep!” You smiled, hoping that Sehun's outburst didn't offend them. The others didn't say anything, and you were glad to continue walking without any issues. “So what were you two doing here?” D.O. asked after a while. “Business,” Kris answered without even looking at him. Sehun, Lu Han and D.O looked at each other, evidently suspicious, but they didn't ask any further. The rest of the walk home was perhaps the most awkward fifteen minutes of your life. Everyone was silent. Too silent. A lot of times you wanted to start a conversation to at least lift some of the awkwardness off but you weren't really much of a conversation starter so you ended up shutting your mouth every time. You finally reached the house to find no one outside. You went to the kitchen where you found Suho and Lay chatting with your mom while helping her cook. “Oh, you're back!” Suho said. You approached your mother while D.O. and the others deposited the bags of groceries on the table. The others didn't say anything, making Suho wonder. “Hey, what's up?” “Uhm, Umma, I bumped into some friends on the way here. Since we have lots of guests already I thought to invite them too,” you told your mom. “That's fine, dear. Where are they?” “They're at the living room,” you said gesturing towards them. Your mom stopped what she was doing and went there. Suho and Lay also followed behind out of curiosity. “Oh, hello there,” your mom greeted when she saw Kris and Tao sitting at the living room. You saw Suho and Lay looking at each other. “Good evening,” Kris greeted back as the two of them stood up and did a bow. “Oh, no, no. Sit down,” she smiled. “What are your names, dears?” “Oh, uhm. This is Kris, and Tao,” you introduced. “Guys, this is my mom.” “Pleased to meet you ma'am,” Kris said and was about to shake her hand but your mom stopped him. “Oh, I'm sorry dear but my hands are dirty. I was preparing dinner, you see. But it's so nice to meet you and have you here. Now you just sit here and relax while I go back to the kitchen. Forgive us for the very little space we have though. But you can go join the others outside it's quite breezy out there,” she smiled at them. “Yeah umma, about that, I didn't see them outside. Where are the others?” You asked. “Hey, hey, look at this!” You heard Chen's voice and a series of laughter which seemed to be coming from your room. You rushed towards the door to find it open, with the rest of the guys inside. “What are you doing here?!” You demanded. “Oh, you're back,” Kai said, lying comfortably on your bed with a manhwa in his hand. “Why are you all in my room?!” “Your mom said it was okay,” Chanyeol replied, who was also sitting on your bed, reading manhwa. “I tried to stop them,” Xiumin, who was standing near the door, explained defensively. You noticed that there was an uncomfortable tension in the room. You turned towards Baekhyun and Chen who were standing like a statue in a corner. “What's up?” You demanded. “Nothing,” Chen answered, while nervously eyeing something at the corner of his eye. You followed his line of vision, and stared horrified at your open underwear drawer. “NOOOO!” You shrieked running towards it and quickly pushed it close. “What do you think you're doing?!” “Guys, is everything okay?” Lay, who apparently heard the commotion, poked his head into the room, followed by LuHan and Sehun who came in when they saw the others inside. “Sorry, Joo Ri. We didn't know it was that kind of drawer. We were only searching for more comics,” Baekhyun explained. “It's true. Sorry,” Chen said, holding out a strawberry-patterned . “AAAAAAAAAAAH!” You shrieked, quickly grabbing it and hid it under your shirt. “It fell down when we opened the drawer. I didn't take it, I swear!” Chen said, holding his hands up. “Were those strawberries?” Sehun asked. “Shut up!” You yelled. You heard Lu Han and Kai laugh while the others' faces turned really red from trying hard not to laugh, except perhaps for Lay and Xiumin. “Guys, it's rude to go inside someone else's room without permission,” Lay reprimanded. “But omoni said it's okay,” Chanyeol reasoned. “Even so. C'mon, everybody out,” Lay told them. “Joo Ri, can I take some of the comics outside?” Chanyeol asked though he was already carrying them to the door. You quickly deposited the back to the drawer. “Lay saw my strawberry underwear,” you moaned to yourself. “Aaarggh! These idiots!” “Whoa!” You heard Chanyeol say, followed by a series of thuds. You came out and found him staring in shock at Kris and Tao, the manhwas he was holding now on the floor. “Why are they here?” He asked the others. “I invited them,” you said while quickly walking towards them. “You what?!” Chanyeol said, staring at you incredulously. “I invited them,” you shrugged, staring at the shocked faces of those who didn't know the two were there. “C'mon guys, it's getting really cramped in here. Let's go outside and give this room some air,” Lay said, trying to ease the tension. The others headed outside but Chanyeol stayed behind and dragged you to a corner. “What were you thinking?!” He whispered. “What? I saw them on the way back and I just thought, since we have enough food, I'll just invite them to join us,” you said defensively. “You didn't want to bring us here and yet you invited them?” He said accusingly. “Well, since you're all here anyway I thought it wouldn't hurt to add two more people,” you explained. “I don't get it. Why them? I mean they're not one of us! They're not part of our team.” “Chanyeol-ah, they're my friends too. C'mon, you don't have to talk to them if you don't want to,” you said. “Whatever,” he huffed and went outside with the others. “Let him be. He'll come around soon,” Lay whispered, patting your shoulder. He gave a smile to Kris and Tao before disappearing back to the kitchen. “Sorry about Chanyeol. He just had a bad day. You guys can join us outside. It's cooler out there,” you said to Kris and Tao. “Thank you. But we would like to stay here a while,” Kris answered. “Okay. But if you ever feel like going outside, you're welcome to join us,” you said, not really wanting to force them into doing anything. You headed to the kitchen to check on your mom. “Umma, do you need help with anything?” “No, dear. Turns out I have all the help I need,” your mother said, smiling at Suho Lay and D.O. “Why don't you go entertain our other guests?” “I'm pretty sure they don't need me for that. But okay,” you chuckled. You passed by the living room while heading outside, and checked on Kris and Tao who were looking at the pictures displayed, before heading outside to be with the others. “It's her house,” Xiumin was saying when you approached them. “Guys,” you said to them. Chanyeol scowled at you and buried his face into the manhwa he's reading. You sighed. “Look, I know some of you don't like them. But you don't have to talk to them if you don't want to. We can just have dinner together.” “I think they're not that bad. I talked to Tao before and I found out that he's actually okay,” Sehun told them, referring to when you asked him to help Tao before. “That doesn't change the fact that they're creepy,” Chanyeol bantered. “It's alright Joo Ri. But it's still a bit of a surprise that you invited them here. Like I know you're friends with them and all but I didn't think you were that close,” Baekhyun said, ignoring Chanyeol. “Well, no. I'm not really that close to them. I mean I don't think we're even close at all,” you admitted. “Then why did you invite them?” Xiumin asked, not meaning any judgement or persecution. “I don't know,” you sighed and sat down amongst them. “I just...I just feel sad every time I look at them, you know?” “Sad? They're more scary if you ask me,” Chen said. “Well,” you said, finding it difficult to explain how you feel. “It's just that...they're always alone. Well, not really alone coz there's two of them but you know, they don't look like they have any other friends apart from each other. And people seem to avoid them despite them being a bit popular, which is also something I don't quite understand.” “Well, it's definitely not 'other people's fault. I mean look at them. Are those faces the type that you can run to and say 'hi, let's be friends'? Maybe if they stop looking like that and acting like that they might actually get some friends,” Chanyeol said. “And by 'that' you mean?” Xiumin asked. “Oh, you know what I mean. That! That I'll kill you in three seconds look...vibe...whatever,” Chanyeol replied. “Maybe people aren't just giving them a chance,” you shrugged. “Yeah, right,” Chanyeol scoffed. “Guys,” Xiumin said. “It's okay, Joo Ri. We understand. Chanyeol here is just...a bit shocked. You know he never really liked those two.” “You bet I don't,” Chanyeol said. “Something about them just doesn’t feel right.” “But they saved you and Kai,” you told him. “Can't argue about that,” Chen said. “Look, I won't force you guys to like them or be close to them or what. But can we at least try to be like, polite with them? Just for tonight. You know just casual friends, just people who know each other from school, nothing special or anything.” “What, like a thank you dinner?” Chanyeol scoffed. “Something like that,” you nodded. “Fine with me,” Kai answered. You saw some of the others shrug in agreement. “I'm sorry for making you all feel so awkward,” you said. “No, it’s okay, Joo Ri. We were just a little surprised. And Chanyeol here's just throwing a tantrum,” Baekhyun said, patting Chanyeol's head. “I'm not!” Chanyeol yelled, swatting Baekhyun's hand. “Awww. Poor Yeollie. Look at him. He's gonna cry now,”Sehun teased. “Shut up!” Chanyeol yelled, trying to grab Sehun who hid behind Lu Han. “But Joo Ri, I've been meaning not to ask you about it but I'm just dying to know,” Chen said. “What?” “Do you really still wear strawberry-printed underwear?” I looked at him in shock, not even able to speak. “I mean I can understand if you love strawberries but aren't those kind of things meant for little girls? Like a pre-school kind of stuff.” “I don't wear strawberry prints!” I shouted. “What about that-” “That was a gift from my best friend and she was only meaning to be funny,” I said defensively. “Oh. Okay. But you know, in case you really like them, we won't judge you,” Chen said. “Yeah, you don't have to deny it Joo Ri. We'll still be your friends,” Baekhyun joined in. “I'm fine with strawberry-printed ,” Kai smirked. “I don't wear strawberry !” You exploded, making them laugh. “Why are we even talking about my underwear? It’s so inappropriate!” You yelled, making them laugh some more. You laughed along eventually, realizing that they were trying to ease the awkward tension. “What's that smell?” Xiumin said, sniffing Lu Han who still smelled like your mother's perfume. “Ugh, it stuck to my clothes,” he groused. “Oh! Speaking of. Chanyeol-ah, I'll go remove that stain on your shirt,” you remembered. “I’ll just go find something for you to change into.” “No need,” he said taking his shirt off and tossing it to you. “It's hot anyways.” “Don't even think about walking around in someone else's house,” Baekhyun reprimanded, hitting Chanyeol lightly in the head. “YA!” Chanyeol yelled, hitting Baekhyun back on the shoulder. “Joo Ri-yaaaaa!” Came a female voice outside the gate followed by a series of knocks. “Oh!” You exclaimed excitedly and ran to the gate. You opened it, revealing an also excited Hye Bin. “Kyaaaaa!” Both of you squealed, hugging each other tight while jumping. “God! I missed you! I had to sneak out from my group project just to come here,” she said. “I missed you too, “you murmured. Then after a while, you realized that she wasn't jumping anymore. She had completely stopped moving, or maybe even breathing. “Hye Bin-ah?” You muttered, releasing her from your hug. She just stared wide-eyed with mouth hanging open at the boys who were also staring at the both of you. She looked at you, still with mouth open. “Oh! They're from my school,” you explained. “Those drop-dead gorgeous guys are your friends from MA?” She asked in amazement. “Wait, are they the soccer team you told me about?” “Yeah,” you answered awkwardly. She gaped at them again, momentarily lingering on the half- Chanyeol, before looking back at you, noticing the shirt you were holding. “Oh! I was just gonna remove a stain I made on his shirt,” you quickly explained. “My god, Joo Ri! They look like celebrities!” She exclaimed in a whisper. “Uhm, I should introduce you guys.” “No, wait, wait, wait!” She whispered, holding you in place. “Do I look nice? Oh I think my face is sweaty. “How about my hair?” “You look beautiful,” you chuckled. “You always do.” “Okay. Okay,” she muttered, calming down. The two of you were about to walk towards them but she grabbed you again, holding you in place. “Wait! Which one's your boyfriend?” “No one!” You answered laughing. “What?! You're kidding, right?” She said incredulously. “They're just my friends. All of them.” She shook her head in bewilderment. “You're unbelievable. All that male hotness surrounding you and you haven't gotten yourself a freaking boyfriend. Anyways, let's go. I'm ready to meet those cuties.” You approached the guys with Hye Bin beside you, constantly fiddling with her hair. “Uhm, guys, this is my friend Hye Bin,” you told them. You introduced Hye Bin to each one of them and there was a brief exchange of pleased-to-meet-you's and how-are-you's. As expected, Chanyeol, Baekhyun and Chen were on to her like a pack of hungry wolves. Hye Bin on the other hand looked impressively composed, though you knew her well enough to notice that her eyes were twinkling like Christmas lights. “Oh, Joo Ri-ya? Where's omoni?” She's She asked. “She's at the kitchen, cooking dinner.” “I'll just go greet her.” “Okay, I'll go fix this quickly at the back,” you told her, referring to Chanyeol's shirt. When you were done washing, Hye Bi went to you at the back of the house. “There are more of them inside,” she said, looking bewildered. “What?” You asked, not getting what she meant. “Your handsome friends,” she answered. “Oh, yeah. I forgot to introduce you to them. Sorry. But I guess you already met them?” “You bet I did! Oh my god! When I asked you over the phone about them you said they were good-looking!” She slapped your arm. “But they are right?” “Are you kidding? They're freaking gorgeous! Beautiful! Awsome! I don't even know anymore. Like god-like level handsome. Are you sure you didn't go to a model or celebrity academy or something?” “No. But you'll be more shocked if you knew what kind of academy I'm really attending,” you said while you finished hanging Chanyeol's shirt. “Why? So what kind of school is M Academy?” “Oh!
