You nearly screamed when you saw your face in the mirror. The area where the ball hit your nose swelled terribly. You thought you looked like one of those boxers you see on TV after a long and bloody fight. “Omo! I look horrible! And it hurts! ” You wailed as you moved your glasses lower where it won’t touch the big bump on your nose. “Y...yeah. It does look terrible,” Ji Min said sympathetically. “I guess I’ll just have to skip school today. I can’t go to school like this,” you moaned. “You’re really not supposed to go to school today. You’re advised to rest for the whole week,” Ji Min told you. “Jinjja?” “Ne. I didn’t tell you?” “No.” “Really? I must have forgotten,” she said thoughtfully. “Anyways, that’s what Doctor Jung said. You’ll go back to class next week.” “Oh,” you muttered. “I would be very happy to hear that if only next week isn’t our midterm examinations.” “Oh, right. I almost forgot about that. Ugh! I hate exams,” Ji Min frowned. “But don’t worry about it. I’ll let you borrow my notes and I’ll even help you study the lessons you skipped.” You gave a tired sigh and smiled at her. “Thanks Ji Min-ah. Sorry. I always cause you trouble.” “No you don’t. And you’re welcome.” Knock. Knock. The two of you stared at each other when you heard the knock on the door. “Ugh! Don’t tell me it’s those girls again,” Ji Min scowled, referring to the soccer team’s obsessed fan girls. You had a considerably troublesome time last night because of them. They came to your room in groups, demanding for you to come out and face them. Some of them only wanted to ask questions about what happened, but most of them wanted to start a fight, and maybe even some really came with the intention of cutting your head off. Ji Min had to send them away all the time since she didn’t allow you to go out and accommodate their ‘psychotic whims’, but they kept coming back numerous times. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. The knocks came again, only now it’s rougher. “Gaaah! When will these pea brains stop?!” Ji Min wailed in annoyance. “You stay here,” she told you and moved to get the door. “Mian,” you whispered. “What?” Ji Min said irritably as she opened the door by just a crack. “Annyeong haseyo. We are from the Student Press. We would like to talk to Song Joo Ri-sshi regarding yesterday’s incident –” “There’s actually a sign pinned right here,” Ji Min said as she pointed at Doctor Jung’s written notice which was pinned outside the door, “in case you guys didn’t notice it. Have a great day. Goodbye,” she said as she was about to close the door but the other student prevented her from doing so. “We’ve read it. But the paper’s next issue will be published soon, and next week is exam week so we don’t have any other time to interview her. It will only take a moment.” “She’s not to be disturbed. It’s written very clearly. And do you actually want to wake a sleeping patient so early in the morning just so you could do your interview? Please leave.” “Ya! What are you getting so cocky about? You should be thankful that we’re even considering to cover her side of the story. Do you think we want to waste time on some lowly Class D?” “Mweo?!” Ji Min exclaimed in aggravation. “Stop acting so self-important just because you and that whored your way with the soccer team. Who do you think you are, disgusting sly sardine!” “What did you say you –” “Ji Min-ah! Andwae!” You hissed and ran towards her as she moved to go outside. “That’s enough. Back to headquarters, all of you,” came Queen’s voice from outside. Both you and Ji Min paused upon hearing her. She strode, or rather cat walked her way outside your door. You froze inside and listened while Ji Min didn’t even bother to hide her distaste when she saw her. “There’s nothing left to do here. If she doesn’t want to be interviewed, then we’ll just have to write the article however we want,” So Yeon said and made a triumphantly evil smirk at Ji Min. “You guys are right. You shouldn’t waste your time on insignificant lowlifes like them,” she smirked and walked away. “Come back here you little –” “A-andwae!” You yelled as she was about to go outside to do god-knows-what to Queen. You pulled her back before she could go and closed the door. “Don’t stop me! That is really gonna get it!” She yelled while she reached for the knob. “Hajima!” You told her and pulled her back. “Just ignore her, alright? She’s not worth it.” “Ah, jinjja! That’s why those people keep on pestering you because you’re too prim. There’s nothing wrong with fighting back sometimes most especially when you’re not in the wrong!” She ranted. “I just don’t want any more trouble,” you said. “You always say that, but your being meek and kind doesn’t actually get you away from trouble either,” she answered. “What are you so afraid of?” “My mother already has enough problems at home. I don’t want to give her more things to worry about. Besides, I’m only a Class D. I’m sure most students here can kill me easily if they really want to.” “What are you talking about? Of course they won’t. They won’t do that inside school premises; and even in the monster world, murder is still a crime. Besides, we’re here. If someone did try to hurt you, you don’t just expect us stand and watch, do you? Just look at what happened to Lee Hee Jun.” “And look where it got Kai and Chanyeol. That’s exactly my point. Reacting to those things will only make matters worse. Let’s just ignore them. They’ll get tired of hating me eventually. I just want to graduate peacefully without giving my mother something to worry about and without causing trouble to someone else.” “What happened to Kai and Chanyeol is not your fault,” she said. You didn’t answer but just went back to your bed. But it is. You heard Kai and Chanyeol were temporarily suspended until further investigations about the incident were made. Lee Hee Jun on the other hand is currently bedridden because of too many broken bones. It’s a good thing that monsters heal and regenerate fast or his injuries would have been in a more serious state. You also heard that his parents will be coming today to see his condition. Kai’s and Chanyeol’s on the other hand will be asked to come after the investigations become clearer, but they were already informed about the incident nonetheless. “By the way, I heard the board members will talk to Lee Hee Jun today. I’m two hundred percent sure that jerk’s gonna make the soccer team look like the bad guys,” she gritted. “But the board wouldn’t be biased, would they?” You asked. “I don’t know,” Ji Min answered. “I gotta go. See you after school.” “See you.” Your breakfast was delivered shortly after, but you really didn’t feel like eating. You finished your meal somewhat agonizingly, took your meds, made your bed, and even did a little cleaning. As the hours ticked by, you were getting more and more bored. You couldn’t even read manga because you were still wearing your temporary glasses. The day seemed so tiring and long. As a result, all you could do was worry about Kai and Chanyeol and how Lee Hee Jun’s interview will affect them. After what seemed like a very long while, lunch time finally came. Your phone suddenly rang. “Yobeseyo?” You answered the call without looking at who’s calling. “Hi Joo Ri,” came a familiar voice on the other line. “It’s me, Lay.” “Oh, Lay. Hi,” you mumbled, your heart skipping a beat. “How are you?” He asked. “I’m fine,” you answered. You felt touched that Lay always asked you how you were doing. “How’s your injury?” “Well, my nose is kinda swollen, but it’s tolerable,” you told him. “Jinjja? Apply warm compress twice a day for about two days. It will help your blood to circulate better and lessen the swelling. Then after two days, apply cold compress,” he instructed. “Oh, alright. Thanks. Um, did you need anything?” “I heard that you’re not attending school for a couple of days,” he said. “Ne.” “I thought that it must be a little lonely to take your lunch alone. Do you want to have lunch with me? I
