Samantha knocked on the door and heard her father’s stern voice telling her to come in. When she walked in her mother was sitting on the leather sofa and her father looking out the window.

“Hello mum, father.” she spoke than sat next to her mum.

“Samantha dear how are your classes going?” mum asked.

“They are fine. I am doing excellent in all of them.” she answered.

“Do you know why you’re here.” her father suddenly spoke.

Her mum sat there quietly as he came and sat down across from them.

“It’s your birthday in a few days and you are turning 21.” he informed her.

She nodded showing that she understood. This was about her inheritance. They did know.

“Your mother and I are worried that you will do something... rash.”

“Father of course I would not even consider doing something that will upset the both you.” she lied.

“Good. I’m glad we had this talk.” he nodded then stood up brushing the matter rather quickly away. “You may get back to the University.”

Samantha nodded and quickly hugged her mother then walked to the door. Walking back down the hallway all she could think about was the day she would be free from this house.

And that day was almost here.
