When Sunny got the text from Taeyeon reminding her that Jessica was sleeping over, Sunny couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy. She knew Taeyeon wouldn’t be unfaithful and she knew Jessica wouldn’t make a move just because she had a boyfriend. Despite the strange circumstances of their break up, it has been over a year and though she may have been imagining it, she and Taeyeon looked really good together.

Then she remembered Yoona mentioning how much Jessica hated her and she sighed deeply into her pillow. How could she make the ice princess like her again? It wasn’t too difficult in elementary school where the only problem was her shyness. She knew that Jessica was a great girl and one of them sweetest to her close friends despite her constant bullying and teasing. But she wasn’t a close friend, she was a stranger, some guy who hooked up with her ex.

Sunny had to fight hard to show Jessica that Sungmin wasn’t a bad guy and that he’s here to stay with Taeyeon. If not for the sake of her own relationship with her best friend, Sunny hoped that things would work out.

Rolling over to face the ceiling, Sunny's phone buzzed and saw that she had received a text from Yoona. It was refreshing getting to talk to her again and Yoona took full advantage. She asked Sunny things like what clubs she would try to join and if she was going to do something for the talent show. Apparently, even though auditions were done, she was allowed to participate if Taeyeon and Sooyoung found her worthy. Or, as Yoona proposed, she could join the dance crew with her which was also inviting. Sunny was a huge fan of dancing.

As the night got darker, Sunny wished that she could text Taeyeon but she didn't want to bother her. Closing her eyes, she wished that sleep would take her sooner than later.

Taeyeon sat at the edge of her bed in her pajamas, fidgeting with her fingers as she waited for Jessica to finish changing. Normally they'd change in front of each other, but ever since their break up things were just awkward on that end. Ever since they came home all they talked about was school and the talent show but she couldn't help but think that Jessica wanted to talk about something more.

"I'm done Tae!" Jessica exclaimed as she walked into her room with a cute jump. She was wearing a onesie similar to Taeyeon’s and the two just laughed at each others' childish sleeping wear.

"Can you believe these still fit?" Taeyeon asked, pulling on the fabric of her onesie.

"lt's not like we grew that much taller from when we bought them,” Jessica remarked, taking a seat next to Taeyeon.

The two then proceeded to lie down next to each other, Jessica grabbing Taeyeon's hand and the latter girl not thinking of letting go. They lied together in silence, Taeyeon feeling her heart rate increasing and Jessica thinking of how to bring up everything she wanted to talk about.

"So why did you want to sleep over?" Taeyeon asked, turning her head to face her friend.

Jessica responded to the body movement by turning as well. She focused her eyes on Taeyeon's, both girls searching the other for answers to questions they were uncertain about.

"Is it so bad for one of your best friends to want to spend time with you alone?" Jessica whispered, pouting a little at Taeyeon.

She shook her head lightly, her hair falling to her face in result, "Of course not, Sica. It;'s just…"

Jessica brushed some of the hair that had fallen on Taeyeon';s face to the side,"It's just what?" She asked, knowing exactly what her ex was going to say next.

"You weren't exactly subtle today when you all met Sungmin," Taeyeon mumbled, watching Jessica’s reaction with a serious face. "Were you jealous?" she then asked, smiling a little and raising her eye brow.

"So what if I was jealous,” Jessica replied, her voice low and certain, “What if I wanted him to see how much I disapproved of him to scare him away?” Her answer is honest and her words are firm. Taeyeon closed her eyes to process the words before letting out a sigh.

"Sica, you know I love you,” Taeyeon started, Jessica smiling at her words. “And I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you all about him earlier, but we really are dating and to be honest I like him a lot."

Jessica';s smile faded right away, "It just doesn't make any sense, Taeyeon." She argued, furrowing her brow and huffing,"You would've told us about him the second you met him, am I wrong? Why do we only get to meet him now?"

Jessica's suspicions were different from Yoona's. While Yoona put the two and two together of her suspicions of Sungmin oppa and the possibility of Sunny being Sungmin, Jessica only had her eyes on figuring this guy out.

Taeyeon sighed, hoping Jessica wouldn’t pry too much, “Sica, it’s really complicated…It's kind of like how we started."

Good idea Kim Taeyeon, use your old relationship to bury yourself deeper in this new and strange one.

"We met online and," she tried to remember the lies Sunny told and remembered that she told the girls about her coming from America, "We kind of secretly dated and then one day, he showed up at my house and I was so surprised and happy when he told me that his family had moved to Korea."

"Oh yeah, I remember him saying that he grew up in Korea then moved to New York or something," Jessica mumbled to herself. But she couldn't let the suspicions go.

"Still Taengoo-ah, it's not like you to keep this a secret from me. I understand you not telling the rest of the girls, but I thought I would've had a heads up about all this." Jessica crossed her arms and pouted at Taeyeon, upset about the unfairness of this whole situation. "You expect me to just accept this guy as your new lover?"

Taeyeon bit her bottom lip as she hesitantly thought of a response, "Yes Sica." It was simple but it was honest, "We have to move on eventually, don't we?"

Jessica didn't reply to Taeyeon but instead, put her arm around her other best friend. She pulled her closer to her and placed her head on her chest. Taeyeon didn’t say anything more when she felt moisture build up around her chest. She placed her arm around Jessica and held her close as well, wishing she knew exactly what to say to make it all stop.

The next morning Jessica woke up like nothing happened the night before. She came downstairs after Taeyeon woke her up for breakfast and the two once again talked about school and the talent show.

Taeyeon watched her blonde friend eat her cereal quietly, wondering if she would bring up last night’s events. She figured it was only fair to wait for her to bring it up since she was the one who stopped talking the night before. They ran out of things to talk about quickly and they sank into their food.

But the two sat in silence eating breakfast before Seohyun came down stairs as well, forcing the two to snap out of their confused mind sets.

Jessica hung around for another hour or so, the two girls just watching a drama together in the living room. Taeyeon couldn’t take it anymore and decided to talk.

“We’re meeting Tiffany for lunch soon,” she mentioned, reminding Jessica of the promise they made before. She had been texting Sunny about the awkwardness, but the trooper still didn’t mind coming for the lunch with Tiffany and Jessica there.

“Yeah,” Jessica replied, finally having eye contact with Taeyeon, “I’ve been thinking.”

“So that’s what that was,” Taeyeon responded, earning a light slap from Jessica.

“You know this is hard, okay? Imagine you were in my place.”

And she did. Taeyeon imagined Jessica suddenly bringing up a boyfriend or a girlfriend and she imagined how jealous she’d feel. She wouldn’t have shown it as much as Jessica, but she could easily feel how much it burns. Right before Sunny came back to her life she was still trying to get over Jessica by moving on to Tiffany who was also difficult. But that was another story.

“I’m sorry,” Taeyeon said, snapping out of her thoughts, “But the reality is Sica, is that I’m with him and I’d really like it if you would try being nice to him too.”

Jessica sighed, it was a reasonable request and she didn’t want to hinder her relationship with Taeyeon just because of jealousy. “Fine,” she muttered, earning a back hug from Taeyeon.

“Only because I know you’d do the same,” she finished, welcoming the warmth from her ex-girlfriend. She treasured every hug they shared and did her best to fight back the feelings she had to lock up for over a year. But as she thought about Taeyeon with Sungmin she started to really wonder if maybe she wasn’t fighting hard enough.

Sunny was dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie as she walked through the park. The weather was chilly but Sunny really disliked jackets. It was a little lonely with Taeyeon away and her juniors also elsewhere. It started feeling a little difficult to run up to one of her old friends and reveal herself so that she wouldn’t have to be so bored.

And then she remembered that Taeyeon offered Sunny’s services to Sooyoung and that she would be joining Hyoyeon’s dance crew. So really, she had two options of things to do. Knowing Hyoyeon, she was probably practicing in some open space with her music blasting or playing in her earphones. She wouldn’t disturb Sooyoung yet, thinking it might be suspicious to call her up.

And there she saw her, dancing while facing a wall with Yuri. The two girls were in black sweat pants and a hoodie with only a sports bra underneath but they didn’t mind the stares they were getting from passerbys. The heat from their movements were enough to sustain their warmth. As expected, Hyoyeon was hitting hard and Yuri was doing a good job of keeping up. Although they were sweating, they looked as if they were having a lot of fun. Sunny watched them carefully and tried to do a few of their actions from her spot. Of course it proved difficult and she sighed in defeat. She should just go up to them and ask what they were doing and talk about her interest in the club. That’s not too hard right?

Sunny started sweating on her palms as she tried to think of how to open to her former friends. What if she screwed up and accidentally revealed herself like she almost did the other day?

Her saviour walked by as she saw Yoona dressed in grey sweat pants and a black long sleeve walk towards the dancing duo. She happened to catch Sunny from afar and ran towards her.

“Sungmin oppa!” she greeted in case the other two could hear, “What are you doing here?” she asked, smiling from ear to ear.

“I was just walking by,” Sunny replied with her boy voice again, eliciting a laugh from the younger girl. She didn’t falter at her response and Yoona saw the transformation from her Sunny unnie to Sungmin. Her posture changed and she ruffled her own hair a little. Her voice was convincingly male and the heavy eye liner she wore hid her long eyelashes. Her lips were also a little dry and she made sure her expression was never as bright as Sunny. She couldn’t let too much aegyo out. And what made this all easy was that she was already different from the Sunny they all knew. At least she thought so. Taeyeon and Yoona caught onto her game and apparently it was obvious once the thought came up since Seohyun got it too.

Sunny prayed nothing would give her away again.

“Come on oppa, they’re going to want you to audition!” Yoona exclaimed, grabbing her unnie by the hand and dragging her to the two leaders of the dance group. But as she felt the sweat in Sunny’s hand she gagged and wiped the sweat on her unnie’s shirt.

“I didn’t think you’d be this nervous,” Yoona joked before giving Sunny a reassuring smile, “Come on, they won’t bite and they both like you already. They’ll like you even more if you can dance.”

Sunny let out a sigh as if letting go of her fears for the moment. She was going to be her usual confident self as Sungmin and nothing could stop her. She’s going to put on the best show possible and trick her friends good.

“Let’s go,” Sunny then said, allowing Yoona to pull her towards the perspiring two who were working hard.

Yoona greeted her leaders by pulling out their earphones and screaming in her ‘cutest’ voice, “Unnie~!”

Yuri knew exactly who the culprit was and turned to grab Yoona around her waist. Hyoyeon nearly fell over cringing at the sound. She shook her head and laughed a little as Yoona and Yuri fought for power in their tangle. Hyoyeon wanted to hit herself for not sensing Yoona’s presence earlier and profusely apologized to her ears for making them victim to Yoona’s childish voice.

She glanced back to see that Yoona and Yuri were no longer fighting and suddenly felt a chill go up her spine. This couldn’t possibly be good.

“Unnie~” Yuri and Yoona cooed at once, causing Hyoyeon to jump from her spot.

Sunny was watching the scene from a bit further away trying her best to suppress her laughter. She knew that if she laughed too loud they’d catch her no problem. It was really refreshing to see her friends interact again. Hyoyeon, Yuri and Yoona were always a good trio and it looked like things didn’t change that much. All three of them still acted like children. She wondered what pranks they pulled over the years. She remembered when she was victim to Yoona’s antics and when she tricked her friends as well.

Hopefully soon enough she wouldn’t just be watching from afar.

Sunny walked closer to her old friends as they started to calm down from laughing at whatever one of them just did to the other. She wasn’t sweating so much anymore which she was thankful to Yoona for. If the girl wasn’t on her side, this would’ve been much harder. But with that one up from Yoona, Sungmin felt invincible.

“Hey guys,” Sunny greeted, giving the three girls a bow, “I couldn’t help but notice you three from afar. I thought you all looked familiar.” She smiled at them, shoving her hands in her pockets casually.

“Did we look cool?” Yuri asked, giving Sungmin a peace sign, “We were practicing really hard.”

“Don’t tell me you saw what just happened,” Hyoyeon brought up the three fooling around instead. It’s not like they could pretend it didn’t happen, and to unintentionally appear silly in front of Taeyeon’s new boyfriend wasn’t exactly ideal.

“You guys were pretty loud,” Sunny laughed lightly, noticing Yoona’s reaction to her more ‘manly’ laugh. “It was hard not to see.”

Yuri and Hyoyeon sighed in defeat when Yoona stepped up to Sungmin, “So Taeyeon unnie told me you were interested in joining The Chodings?”

Sunny couldn’t help but snort at the name.

“Yah! What’s so funny?” Yuri asked, glaring at Sungmin, “You think our crew’s name is funny?”

“N-No,” Sunny replied, waving her hands in defence, “It’s just very…unique.”

“Oppa, you shouldn’t insult the name of the dance crew you so very want to join,” Yoona stated, shaking her head. She wanted to tease Sunny as much as possible and get comfortable with this other persona.

Hyoyeon laughed though, crossing her arms, “Just show us what you got Sungmin. I’ll provide the music.”

Sunny gulped, not realizing how spontaneous her audition had to be. She hoped that her freestyling would be enough. Ah, it didn’t help that she was a bit rusty.

“I’ll do my best.”
