Is This Right? [Part 2]

Tongue Tied

“I can explain!!” Yuri cried out as she stumbled to put her clothes on from underneath the blanket.

Sunny turned to Jessica who was still hiding behind her pad of paper as if it was doing something. She was a little shocked and was trying to make sense of everything before turning to Sooyoung who fell to the ground and was still shocked.

“I saw something I shouldn’t have,” Sooyoung said a little flatly, staring into nothing.

Sunny crouched next to Sooyoung and pet her hair affectionately, “Sooyoung-sshi, it’s okay it’s gone.” She wanted to laugh at her shocked state but felt that it might’ve been a little mean.

“It’s not what it looks like!” Yuri screamed again, still scrambling under the blanket.

“Yuri-ah! Calm down! You’re making it sound worse than it is,” Jessica squeaked from behind her paper pad. She felt the urge to throw her pad at the girl under the covers for acting so dramatic.

“She was ,” Sooyoung said with the same flat tone. She then shook her head, trying to take away the image.

“Were you drawing her?” Sunny then asked, seeing the blackness on the side of Jessica’s hand from the charcoal she was holding with the paper pad.

“Yes,” Jessica replied dryly, not looking up from her spot.

“Sica unnie, you don’t have to hide,” Sooyoung stated as she got up from her spot with Sungmin’s help. She was finally collected. “You weren’t the one…showing it all.”

“Hey!” Yuri then yelled, getting out from her bed now wearing a sport bra and track pants, “You’re making it sound like I had a hideous body or something.” She sounded very offended and embarrassed and her face was still pink.

“It’s not that,” Sooyoung responded, a little embarrassed as well, “But it’s just…I don’t know you don’t see your best friends like..ever.”

Jessica sighed and finally put down the paper pad before walking over to Yuri, “Why didn’t you tell me they were coming over?”

“I didn’t think they’d come early!” Yuri defended. Jessica sighed again and held Yuri’s arm before burying her face in it. “Don’t be like that Sica, you’re not the one who should be embarrassed!”

“So you are drawing her,” Sungmin interrupted, her and Sooyoung walking closer to the other two, “She’s your model?”

Jessica didn’t move from her spot and just nodded.

“How often does this happen?” Sooyoung asked curious about this secret they just found out about. “And why did you hide it from us?”

“Twice a week,” Yuri answered simply. Jessica hit her arm, “Ow!!!”

Jessica sighed once more before facing her friends again, “How am I supposed to tell you guys? Oh by the way, Yuri comes to my house or I go to her house and I draw her . That’s just weird and really, really embarrassing.”

“Not as embarrassing as this,” Yuri muttered under her breath, earning another hit from Jessica.

“Well it could’ve saved us from this situation,” Sooyoung added shaking her head and closing her eyes, “I need to wash my mind.”

“Yah! Yuri has a very nice body, you’re just jealous,” Jessica yelled, walking over to Sooyoung and hitting her on the arm. She didn’t catch Yuri’s blush.

“Did you ask her to model for you or?” Sunny asked, very interested in the situation.

“Stop asking questions!!!” Jessica replied, whining and walking over to hit Sungmin. “You guys better keep this a secret!” She was flushed, her face red and in a pout.

“We promise,” Sungmin nodded and offered a smile to the sulking girl.

“Anyway, Sica you better go,” Yuri insisted, grabbing Jessica by the shoulders and pushing her towards the direction of the door. “We’re gonna practice for the talent show.”

“No way!” Jessica retorted, staying firm in her spot, “You embarrassed me so I get to watch you guys dance!”

Yuri sighed and Sungmin and Sooyoung exchanged looks.

“We don’t mind her watching us,” Sooyoung offered, shrugging, “She can even draw us if she wanted.”

Jessica rolled her eyes and turned her head to hide her blush.

“We wanted to keep it a surprise, Sica,” Yuri pleaded, giving Jessica her best puppy eye look. Jessica was immune.

“I’m not leaving,” Jessica responded firmly, staring Yuri straight in the eye.

“Fine.”

Jessica did draw them sometimes as the three practiced in Yuri’s room. She sat on Yuri’s bed with her paper pad and charcoal and made gesture drawings of the three. As she drew each of them she noticed that Sungmin had a very feminine line on his body and that he was very flexible. He was wearing loose pants and a plain shirt but she was curious as to what was underneath. She still thought that maybe he could’ve been Sunny but did she really have the courage to ask him to take off his shirt?

Yuri and Sooyoung were both in their sport bras at this point and Jessica thought maybe that could help.

“Sungmin oppa,” she started as the three took a water break, “Aren’t you getting hot from dancing?”

Sunny wiped her brow of the sweat and shook her head, “Naw, I’m good.”

“Because none of us would mind if you took off your shirt,” she continued bluntly, watching for Sungmin’s reaction.

He managed to keep his cool though and just smiled shyly, “Ah, I’m not really confident in my body.”

Yuri gasped and Sooyoung was blushing at the thought of a shirtless Sungmin.

“Are you kidding me?” Yuri almost shouted, “You’re so tiny, I bet you’re toned!”

Sunny just shook her head, “If you don’t mind guys, I don’t want to take off my shirt.”

Jessica sighed disappointed, it was a fair refusal, “We didn’t want to force you, I was just making a suggestion.” Sunny sighed on the inside at her ability to dodge the event.

“You’re so humble,” Sooyoung commented, smiling at Sungmin sweetly.

“Nah,” Sunny replied, looking away, “I haven’t even shown Taeyeon.”

All of the girls ‘aww’d’ in unison. Sungmin just rubbed the back of her head and blushed.

Jessica wanted to be jealous at the mention of Taeyeon but she was starting to like Sungmin more, whoever he was or wasn’t. He was too adorable.

---

Taeyeon ended up staying for dinner, having helped Tiffany’s dad out as well. The three ate comfortably as if Taeyeon was a part of the family. For dessert, the two girls ate cheesecake while watching some drama that Tiffany was following.

“Wait so she’s pregnant with her ex boyfriend’s boyfriend’s child?” Taeyeon asked dumbfounded at the intense drama.

Tiffany was tearing up however, especially at the incredibly emotional OST that was playing during the scene, “Just watch Taeng!” she demanded.

Taeyeon sighed, getting more confused as the drama went on.

Half an hour later, Tiffany was crying into her shoulder and she felt herself a little teary despite the confusion. This was the reason she rarely watched dramas. They were too hard to follow.

After some convincing, the two girls ended up watching some anime Taeyeon was into. Tiffany knew the show in general since about half their group watched it and talked about it a lot but she was still a little confused.

“Why are they talking so much shouldn’t they be fighting?” She asked Taeyeon, curious as to why the protagonist and the antagonist were having such lengthy conversations instead of finishing off their battle.

“Shh,” Taeyeon just shushed her friend, her eyes focused on the screen. Tiffany just pushed closed since it was hanging.

“You really should stop that,” Tiffany said through giggling, “You’re gonne end up eating a fly.”

Taeyeon just shushed her again and Tiffany rolled her eyes.

After Taeyeon’s show the two girls decided to turn off the tv and Taeyeon asked for her peek into Tiffany’s writing. She read through Tiffany’s beautiful hand writing and ideas and smiled, hanging open again.

“You’re such a dork,” Tiffany commented, laughing at Taeyeon’s excited expression and open mouth.

Taeyeon just ignored her and kept reading.

“You really need to finish one of these Fany,” Taeyeon then mumbled as she closed the journal she was reading, “Everyone talks about how much we want to read a completed novel by you.”

“I don’t know,” Tiffany responded, smiling shyly at Taeyeon’s compliment, “I think I wanna finish writing a song first.”

“Aish, you keep writing but you never finish anything except for newspaper articles and homework,” Taeyeon shook her head, disapproving of all this, “You should talk to Seohyun, she can probably help you write a song.”

Tiffany hesitated before her next sentence, “I want you to help me finish a song.”

Taeyeon blushed at this and cursed internally for her lingering honest feelings for the girl.

Sunny and Sooyoung left Yuri’s house after being forced to stay for dinner by Yuri’s parents. Sunny couldn’t help but think that Jessica was going to draw Yuri again after the two left.

“You’re really good at dancing, oppa,” Sooyoung complimented. Sunny was a little disappointed that she didn’t sound bashful as she said that.

“Forget about my dancing, how about that Yuri and Jessica huh?” Sunny responded.

“You’re a ert aren’t you, oppa?” Sooyoung replied instead, giggling, “I’m gonna tell Taeyeon unnie!”

Sunny laughed, “Please, you know Taengoo as well as me, right? She’s the ert.”

“You can’t hide from the truth, oppa,” Sooyoung teased as the two just laughed into the cold night.

“Do you live this way?” Sooyoung asked as the two headed towards Sooyoung’s house.

“Nah,” Sunny responded casually, “I’m the other way actually but I’m walking you home.”

“Th-Thanks,” Sooyoung responded with a slight bow.

“Taeng would kill me if I didn’t see you home safely,” Sunny stated firmly before hopping up to pat the girl on the head.

“I’m a grown up girl,” the taller one responded.

“With a big appetite,” Sunny teased, “You ate through like 5 bowls of noodles.”

“Shut up!” Sooyoung yelled back embarrassed, “You’re a guy you should’ve eaten more than just two measly bowls!”

The two yelled back and forth at each other before laughing. Sunny felt like she was arguing again with the Sooyoung she knew back then and it felt so refreshing. She almost felt as if she could have told the girl right there and then that she was who she was but she stopped herself. If she kept getting too excited, how would she last three more months?

They finally got to Sooyoung’s house and Sunny walked her to her door step. Sunny was thinking about hitting Taeyeon’s house before going home while Sooyoung was enjoying how it felt like Sungmin just dropped her off from a date.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said as he started walking away, “Have a good night!”

“Thanks for walking me home,” Sooyoung replied, bowing to her oppa. She wanted so badly to run up to the retreating figure and hug him. She wouldn’t admit to wanting more because one that would make her a horrible friend and two that would make her a horrible friend. She fought hard to resist her feelings.

“It’s no problem, night!”

“Good night!”

Taeyeon had walked home on her own and finally reached her doorway when she got a text from Sunny.

“Look behind you?” she mumbled outloud to herself and almost screamed when Sunny wrapped her arms around her waist.

“Hey,” Sunny greeted, “Have a good night at Fany’s?”

The two enjoyed each other’s warmth in the cold of the night. Sunny could hear remnants of Lights from Taeyeon’s ear phones and buried her head in her best friend’s back.

Taeyeon sighed before speaking up, “Sunny we need to talk.”

She sounded serious, but she didn’t sound upset or anything. Still, Sunny couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

The two walked into Taeyeon’s house and removed their boots and jackets before walking hand in hand to Taeyeon’s room. Seohyun was still awake and Sungmin greeted the young girl a good night.

When they got to Taeyeon’s room the two lied down in her bed as if it was routine and Taeyeon put her arm around Sunny and she returned the gesture.

“Are we breaking up?” Sunny asked half jokingly and half terrified on the inside.

Taeyeon shook her head, “No! Why would you think that?”

Sunny tried to laugh a little, “You’re being really serious Taengoo, I can’t help but worry a little.”

“I’m sorry,” she responded, “It’s just something happened today.”

“You cheated on me,” Sunny interrupted, trying to joke around again.

Taeyeon just hit her, “Sunny-ah! Stop that!”

“I’m nervous, I can’t help it!” she replied in defense. “I’ll stop, I’ll stop.”

“Anyway, when I was with Tiffany um, it was the first time we hung out with just the two of us for a while and despite us being together,” she paused and bit her lip before looking up at Sunny, “I think I still have feelings for her.”

There was a silence between the two and Taeyeon closed her eyes and waited for Sunny to reply. She felt her heart pounding harshly and felt incredibly anxious. But her body calmed down when she felt Sunny’s lips make contact with her forehead.

“That’s it?” Sunny replied after a moment. Taeyeon looked up at her surprised and Sunny just smiled at her.

“You’re not upset?”

Her girlfriend just shook her head, “I thought we talked about your crazy love square thing.”

“I know,” Taeyeon whined, “But I don’t know shouldn’t you be more concerned?”

Sunny tilted her head in thought, “I don’t know, I think I should be, but I’m really not.”

“Oh,” Taeyeon responded, nodding slowly, “I guess it’s kind of like how I wasn’t jealous today when I watched you tutor Sooyoung.”

Sunny laughed, “Why would you be jealous of that? You’re the one who suggested me help her.”

“Well yeah!” the other girl responded, “But come on, she is totally in love with Sungmin and to be honest you two looked good together.”

Sunny pondered on the thought before shaking her head, “Come on, Taengoo! You’re just imagining stuff.”

Taeyeon just giggled and Sunny pouted at her reaction. And for another minute or so after Taeyeon’s laughed died, the girls sat in silence.

“Is this right?” Taeyeon then whispered into the silence.

Sunny knew exactly what Taeyeon was asking and didn’t answer right away. She closed her eyes in thought before continuing, “I think so. Do you like me Taengoo?”

“Of course I do, you’re my best friend,” she replied looking at Sunny dumbfounded by the question.

“I feel the same,” Sunny responded, kissing Taeyeon’s forehead again. “So, this is right. Don’t worry so much.”

Taeyeon nodded slowly, “Yeah…I’m sorry Sunny.”

“Don’t sweat it,” Sunny responded, pulling her girlfriend closer, “It’s good that we talked. We should always talk, communication is important.”

The two girls lied in silence for a few more minutes before Taeyeon spoke up again.

“I love you.”

“Love you too, Taengoo.”
