And To All A Good Night!

Tongue Tied

Taeyeon was in her prince costume, finishing the decorations in her house as Seohyun got dressed. She was painfully curious as to what the girl’s costume was. Seohyun was always a little shy and yet proud of her costume creations. And this time she was especially secretive about her outfit.

She only had to place the Christmas treats on the table to finish off the theme of the house. They were in the shape of trees, angels, stars, and every other Christmas shape you can think of besides Jesus and His family. There were little cupcakes and an abundance of different flavoured cookies from sugar to green tea.

Taeyeon was pretty satisfied with what Seohyun and the other maknaes had planned out and walked over to the couch to relax. She kind of wished that Tiffany was there already, but apparently she had a surprise for her despite the fact that Taeyeon was there when they bought the things for their outfits.

She felt a little hot in her costume, but she imagined that they rest of the girls would feel the same. Seohyun insisted on turning off the heater since everyone was probably going to be covered. Her hair was tied up at least and she didn’t have to wear any makeup. She felt that she looked really good in her outfit. It wasn’t every day that she wore a blazer with a tail coat and shoulder pads and tight dress pants. She was white and glittered with golden accessories that were pretty easy to put together. She was a really short prince though and she was disappointed that she didn’t have a sword. But then she remembered what would happen if Yoona or Yuri got a hold of the sword and thought it was a good idea not to have it.

Ding dong~

Finally, the guests had arrived! Taeyeon excitedly walked over to the door and opened it to find Hyoyeon and Yoona in adorable matching dinosaur kigurumis and presents in hand.

“It’s not Halloween kids, I’m sorry but we don’t have any candy,” Taeyeon said she started to close the door, giggling at their childish outfits.

But instead, Yoona and Hyoyeon rammed their way through the door, almost knocking the oldest over.

“Marry Chrisumaaaaas!!” Hyoyeon called out in adorable English as she cheerfully skipped to the living room and placed her Kris Kringle present on the table and the other presents under the tree.

Yoona threw her presents on Taeyeon who was still trying to get her balance back and ran up the stairs to find Seohyun.

“Hyunnie!!” she called out, knocking on the girl’s door and wagging her dinosaur tail completely enthralled with the idea of finally seeing the girl’s costume.

Before she knew it, Seohyun’s door swung open and she grabbed Yoona’s arm and dragged her inside.

And then, Yoona could have sworn that her heart stopped beating for a split second before proceeding to beat so fast that she was ready to pass out. She reached out to Seohyun’s dresser to maintain her balance, but instead she fell to the ground.

“Ah, I’m sorry unnie was I too rough?” Seohyun asked, the light of her room perfectly accentuating the details on the girl’s dress.

It was simple and yet extravagant at the same time. The white fabric hugged her body perfectly while the golden and silver accessories descended from her neck and curves delicately. She also wore small, feathered wings and a silver band on her head. Her hair was all placed on one side of her shoulders and her collar bone was exposed, enough to make anyone give her a double take. Yoona couldn’t find words or air, her eyes never being torn away from the angelic figure before her. Somehow, Seohyun managed to look beautiful, elegant, innocent and ridiculously y at the same time.

“N-No,” Yoona finally spat out, although she was pretty sure she was drooling. She wiped just to be sure and finally took a breath of air.

“Are you okay, unnie?” Seohyun asked, incredibly concerned of her unnie who looked like she was going to pass out at any second.

“Y-Yeah,” Yoona replied, trying to get up. She internally slapped herself and shook her head. Composure, keep your cool girl, keep your cool.

“Ah, okay I was worried,” Seohyun said, holding her hand out to pick up her best friend. “But um, I pulled you in here to get your opinion!” She then twirled around for her, Yoona once again almost passing out because the dress was backless after the wings. “I almost made a tail for the dress, but I thought it would be too much.”

Yoona bit her lip as she tried to control her urge to run up to the girl and kiss her right there and then. It was a foul, an absolute illegal foul to look that gorgeous and act so innocently cute about it.

“You look,” she began, Seohyun’s eyes looking up at her expectantly. “You look…”

“It’s not good, is it?” Seohyun answered instead since the girl just kept dragging her words. “You don’t have to lie unnie-“

“No, no! Hyunnie, it’s beautiful, you’re beautiful! It’s amazing, a work of art!” Yoona hoped to God that her red wasn’t as red as it felt. Perhaps it was the warmth of the kigu that made her feel so hot. But if it wasn’t the redness in her face that gave her away, it was the speed of her speech that would.

However, while Yoona was indulging in controlling her reactions, she missed the blush that creeped on the maknae’s face.

Yuri was admiring the outfit Jessica and herself put together for the day. They were supposed to be reindeer and Jessica took the idea and ran with it. She was wearing brown overalls with green accessories that looked like vines and leaves. And along the back, there were white spots that varied in texture. She also wore a skin tight brown longsleeve the same colour as her overalls. There was a single stripe down each arm and around her neck she wore a beige infinity scarf.

But the best part was the cute little tail on Yuri’s , her stubby antlers and the red plastic gem on her nose. For extra impact, she also put little freckles under her eyes.

Aw yes, the perfect reindeer. The perfect Rudolph, actually.

Although she got ready rather quickly, her partner was still getting changed in her room. Throughout their planning, Jessica refused to show Yuri her own outfit. But since they were supposed to match, Yuri assumed it was the same outfit.

However, since the girl was taking about double the time to prepare, Yuri was having doubts.

“Sica! We’re already late! What’s taking you so-“

Jessica opened the door to reveal her outfit, very similar to Yuri’s but instead of overalls it was the form of a dress. A cute brown dress with about the same decorations of Yuri’s overalls but…

“What the? Sica! You look gorgeous and I look like…like a reindeer! What? How is this fair?” Yuri was outraged, but more so to cover up her urge to gush over how adorable Jessica looked in her outfit.

“Sorry, Yul~ It’s just that I thought it’d be more fun to have some contrast between us,” Jessica said, giddy at her own outfit. “Besides, you look cute! I think we look good together. Rudolf and a much more glamorous reindeer like Venus or something I don’t remember their names.”

Before Yuri could protest even more, she was caught off guard by Jessica’s words. And more so, she was caught off by Jessica wrapping her arm around her waist.

“Come on, Yuri let’s get going. Seohyun’s gonna yell at us for being late,” Jessica’s smile turned into a smirk as she felt the taller girl stiffen under her touch.

Meanwhile at Sooyoung’s house, Sunny was being well fed by Sooyoung’s mother as the two waited for her to get ready.

“So what was your theme again?” Sooyoung’s mother asked as she placed some more rice cakes at Sunny’s spot on the table.

“Um, elves,” Sunny answered as she ate diligently. She wanted to save her appetite for the party, but she certainly didn’t want to refuse Sooyoung’s mother anything. “But essentially we’re wearing green outfits, funny shoes, fake ears and a silly hat,” Sunny continued with a laugh.

“I think you look really charming in that green suit, Sungmin,” she complimented, smiling widely at her potential son in law.

“Thank you very much Ms. Choi but I think I look like a leprechaun,” Sunny added, pulling on her white tie nervously.

“I think your height is adorable, Sungmin! Don’t let it get you down, even if Syoung teases you about it!”

Sunny just blushed and continued eating as Sooyoung’s mother laughed and continued to lead the conversation.

Sooyoung was nervously fidgeting with her dress as she twirled for herself for the millionth time. Sungmin had already approved of the outfit, but he had not seen it while it was on her yet. They agreed to make their outfits fairly simple and there she was, in a green dress, white cardigan, fake ears and bell clips in her hair.

She had been done getting ready for a while but she couldn’t bring herself to go down stairs.

“Come on Syoung, you know you rock this dress and you know you rock Sungmin oppa’s world. Why are you so nervous? You’re going to be late for the party,” she spoke to herself as she fanned her burning face.

But then there was a knock on the door.

“Sooyoung?” Sungmin called out, “Are you ready yet?”

Sooyoung instantly called out, “Ah! Yes, I’m sorry, just-“

“Do you mind if I come in?” Sunny innocently asked, curious to see how gorgeous Sooyoung looked this time. Sunny could have sworn that the girl was in some sort of competition with herself, for every single day she saw her, Sooyoung was even more beautiful than the day before.

Sooyoung took in a deep breath before calling her oppa in. She could feel her face getting all flushed again and turned around to face Sungmin with a solid smirk.

“Do you like?” she asked confidently, twirling for her short partner.

Sunny started to clap and did her best to keep closed, but to her misfortune it was impossible. She kept repeating the mental note to close but the message never fully registered.

“You’re staring,” Sooyoung breathed, proud of leaving Sungmin speechless.

Sunny was frozen, unsure of how or why she couldn’t move. She wanted to, no, she needed to keep her cool. After all, the night had only begun.

“Let’s go?” Sooyoung offered, feeling brave and holding Sungmin’s hand into her own. She smiled and yanked the boy with her downstairs. She swore that she’ll never get used to how small his hands were in her own.

---

Tiffany wanted to applaud herself, but she felt that might have been a little too much praise. But she deserved a little, after all she worked hard to look the way she did. She wouldn’t say it out loud, but she wanted to impress Taeyeon. Tiffany knew that no matter what she wore, the girl would tell her she looked good but she didn’t know why she needed so badly for Taeyeon to tell her that she looked stunning.

She knocked on the door and bounced happily as she waited for someone to open the door. Yoona was the one who appeared and she grinned at her older friend’s outfit.

“Fany unnie you look beautiful!” she complimented as she chewed on what seemed to be a cookie from the crumbs spilling out of .

“Thank you,” Tiffany cooed, her eyes instantly turning into crescents. It was just the reaction she was looking for.

As she stepped inside, Yoona took her jacket and hung it up. “Everyone’s just in the living room.”

“Is everyone here?” Tiffany asked, suddenly feeling shy in her outfit.

“Sooyoung and Sungmin oppa haven’t arrived yet, but your prince is waiting for you,” Yoona teased with a sly smile. She could sense Tiffany about to protest so she fleed into the next room.

Tiffany wondered again why she made the two dress up like this. She wondered if maybe she was being a little too possessive of Taeyeon in her head, but shook it off. Taeyeon seemed happy when they were shopping, so it’s not like she minded or anything.

Looking down to admire her outfit once more, she took a deep breath and skipped happily into the living room. She looked around eagerly and laughed as she watched Hyoyeon, Yoona and Yuri dancing to a song Jessica was singing on the karaoke.

“Where’s Seohyun?” Tiffany asked as she joined the girls who were dancing dangerously by the snacks.

“She’s waiting until everyone comes to make her grand entrance,” Hyoyeon answered before grabbing Tiffany’s hand to make her dance with her.

“And where’s my prince?” she asked next, starting to feel the groove and doing a little comic dancing with Hyoyeon.

“I’m upset that you didn’t ask for me first,” Taeyeon joked as she appeared from the kitchen. She was carrying another plate of snacks since apparently, Hyoyeon and Yoona didn’t have anything to eat yet that day. But when she looked up, she almost dropped the plate in her hand.

“Tae!” Tiffany cheered as she ran from Hyoyeon’s side to Taeyeon. She pulled on the girl’s hand so she would come join them on the dance floor faster. Taeyeon could barely breathe.

Yoona grabbed the plate of snacks from Taeyeon’s hand, certain that they were on the verge of spilling.

“I’ll save these!” she cried out, placing the plate down with the rest of the food.

It was Hyoyeon’s turn to sing as she selected another song with a great beat. Being in a dinosaur kigurumi made her feel like dancing apparently.

Jessica left to join Yuri as Tiffany pulled and pushed Taeyeon’s arms in an awkward dance.

“Do I look cute?” Tiffany asked as she twirled in place for her prince.

Taeyeon could feel running dry and she did her best to keep her thoughts and words coherent.

“You look,” she started, trying desperately to search for the perfect word to describe her. “You look…” At first she didn’t want to stutter, but prolonging her answer seemed even more embarrassing.

Her friends decided to help her out.

“Beautiful?” Yoona offered from the side as she danced with Hyoyeon. The two girls rocked the kigurumi look and one could only wonder how much sweat was building up under that material.

“Stunning?” Jessica added with a giggle.

“Gorgeous,” Yuri yelled as she started to pop to the beat.

“Taeyeon?” Tiffany called out, waiting eagerly for her partner of the night’s answer.

“You look…” Taeyeon swallowed thickly as she continued picking at her brain for a good adjective to describe the girl before her.

“The party doesn’t start until I walk in!” a voice called out from the doorway. The dancing girls stopped to turn their head. Standing in the hallway was a proud looking Sooyoung and just behind her locking the door was a shy looking Sungmin with a suspicious looking lipstick mark on his cheek. Taeyeon and Yoona couldn’t help but smirk at the small leprechaun.

“Sorry for being late!”

Sunny had a strategy. She wouldn’t stop to gawk at Sooyoung if she just continued to look forward, talk and occasionally steal glances at her taller friend. However, as Sooyoung began to swing their hands and squeeze it gently, Sunny couldn’t help but lose track of her strategy.

Sooyoung knew that tonight would be special. Christmas always called for miracles, after all. She wasn’t sure if it was the winter air, the holiday mood, the dress she was wearing or the encouraging text Taeyeon gave her after they bumped into each other at the mall the other day while she bought her present for Sungmin, but she felt a surge of courage fill her to thr brim.

“We’re almost there,” Sunny said as they turned the corner and saw Seohyun and Taeyeon’s house just a few numbers down.

“Do you think we’ll manage to have some alone time while we’re there?” Sooyoung asked skilfully, not a trace of shyness or hesitance in her voice. Sunny thanked the gods that the weather could excuse her red cheeks.

“I don’t know about that, there are 9 of us after all,” Sunny responded with a light chuckle, trying her best not to imagine what could happen if they were all alone in the middle of the party.

Sooyoung simply nodded and once again squeezed the petite hand in her grasp. They were almost there.

As they climbed up the door steps, Sunny took the opportunity to knock first. But before she got the chance to place her knuckles on the door, she felt something warm against her cheek.

Sooyoung had kissed her.

“Merry Christmas, oppa,” she greeted gently, a sweet smile caressing her beautiful features. Sunny could’ve sworn that she was floating in outer space now, not sure where she could find the oxygen to breathe again.

Before Sungmin could react, Sooyoung tried the doorknob to find it unlocked and barged her way in, announcing her presence. Sunny shook her head and tried her best to regain her composure as she entered afterwards and locked the door behind her.

As the girls walked over to Sooyoung and Sungmin to greet them and bring them to the karaoke and dance floor, Tiffany turned to Taeyeon again with an expectant smile.

“You look breathtaking,” Taeyeon finally slipped as the other girls were out of earshot. She was embarrassed at her response, but satisfied with the slight pink that developed on Tiffany’s cheeks.

“Look at this Prince Charming,” Tiffany teased through her blush, slapping Taeyeon on her shoulder lightly. “Thank you TaeTae,” she replied softly, not sure what spirit possessed her at the moment as she leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek. She didn’t regret it, although she felt shy afterwards. She took the opportunity to go greet Sooyoung and left the shocked Taeyeon in her wake.

Taeyeon lifted her hand and delicately touched the spot where Tiffany kissed and her face formed the most ridiculous grin.

“You look stupid,” Yoona commented as she noticed Taeyeon first. She immediately snapped out of it and growled at the younger girl. “You and Sunny unnie match now,” she whispered with a low snicker.

Remembering the incredibly rare and adorable shy look that Sunny wore when she walked in through the door, Taeyeon walked over to greet her best friend.

“You’re blushing,” Taeyeon whispered with a smirk as she pulled Sunny towards the tree to place her presents down. “You better snap out of it and go back to cool oppa mode before Sooyoung takes advantage of this.”

“I’m not sure if I want her to or not,” Sunny replied, half dazed. Taeyeon just laughed.

“Be careful, Seohyun put up mistletoe somewhere in the house so tonight could be much more magical than it already is,” Taeyeon whispered, relieved that Sunny didn’t notice her own blushing and red mark on her cheek.

“Oh God don’t even remind me,” was all Sungmin could muster as Yuri offered him the mic. She swallowed her feelings and handed the mic over to Taeyeon, “I’m not much of a singer.”

“Then dance with me,” Sooyoung called out as if from nowhere, pulling Sungmin towards her as Taeyeon selected the next song.

Since all the guests had arrived by now, Yoona went upstairs to call the angel who was patiently waiting in her room. She smiled to herself and took a deep breath before knocking on the door. She had to prepare herself mentally again for seeing the earth bound angel once more.

“Yoona unnie?” Seohyun called out as she opened the door ever so slightly. “Is everyone here?”

“Yes,” Yoona responded with a quick nod, incredibly excited for the rest of her friends to see the wonder that she’d been in love with for as long as she could remember.

“Let’s go then!” Seohyun replied cutely, a small bounce in her step as she left her room and delicately closed it behind her.

Yoona took the girl’s hand and guided her down the stairs, once again missing the blush that had appeared on the younger girl’s cheeks.

“Presenting!” Yoona yelled through Taeyeon’s trot sound and the dance of Yuri and Hyoyeon’s cheering. “An angel who God has kindly lended us for the night, the epitomy of beauty, the pure and innocent maknae of our lovely group, my best friend and host of tonight’s affair-“

“Spit it out already!” Hyoyeon cried out which gained her a laugh from the rest of the girls.

“Our sweet potato princess, Seohyunnie!!!!” Yoona finished up quickly, letting go of Seohyun’s hand and running down the stairs to watch the girl make her elegant entrance.

As soon as Seohyun began to descend, all eyes were locked on her. She smiled awkwardly as she felt her unnies’ eyes appreciating her outfit and hard work and she started to stiffen a little. But as soon as she eyes met with Yoona’s, with that supportive look and goofy smile, she eased up a bit and confidently walked down the stairs.

“Who are you and what have you done to my sister?” Taeyeon asked with a soft smile on her face.

“Did you make that yourself?” Jessica asked with wide eyes. There was a sparkle that wouldn’t leave. “You have to show me your pattern for this!!”

“You have wings!!” Yuri exclaimed happily, running over to Seohyun to poke at them.

“That girl has a lot of talent,” Sunny commented from afar. Hyoyeon wrapped an arm around the boy’s shoulders.

“She looks like an angel and here we are, a lizard and a leprechaun,” Hyoyeon added with a shake of her head, “Oh well, someone has to look like an idiot.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sunny retaliated fiercely, threating to punch the other girl, but Hyoyeon fled too quickly.

The night quickly desolved into drunk singing and dancing without the alcohol. Seohyun and Taeyeon were busy serving dinner and more snacks while Tiffany and Jessica talked on the couch. Hyoyeon and Yuri were singing obnoxiously into the karaoke while Sooyoung, Yoona and Sunny danced like they were on some party tour bus.

The food was deliciously enjoyed and everyone had a chance to show off their singing and dancing skills. A medley of Tiffany, Jessica, Seohyun and Taeyeon singing Girls’ Generation hits turned into a dance battle between Hyoyeon, Yuri, Yoona and Sungmin. It had to stop quickly though when Yoona almost knocked over a plate of jajangmyun.

As Tiffany and Taeyeon started putting away empty plates, Jessica decided to calm the mood by singing a ballad.

Hyoyeon and Yoona were lying on top of each other on the floor, tired from all the dancing as they watched Jessica sway to the music. They were waving one of their arms in the air as well, feeling the mood of the music.

Yuri was sitting on the recliner and watching Jessica carefully, admiring the voice that was coming out of her tiny body. Her hands were rested gently under her chin as she eyes bore holes into the back of Jessica’s head. Yuri knew Jessica was talented and often enjoyed her in all sorts of ways, but her favourite Jessica talent was her singing. Of course, she loved it when Jessica drew her or even painted her, but sitting back and listening to the girl belt out a passionate ballad was the greatest experience of her young life.

She could feel her heart beating really fast despite her breathing being very deep. But when Jessica turned around to smile at her, she instantly felt her breathing turn shallow and her face turn red. Her eyes wandered over to the clock to see that it was almost midnight and almost time to open presents. It was almost time for the miracles to happen.

Sungmin was sitting on the couch and pretending to watch Jessica sing like the rest of them. Sooyoung was lying on the couch with her head on his lap, watching Jessica peacefully with a smile on her face. Sunny was actually stealing glances at the girl who was occupying her lap and fought an internal debate on whether she should the girl’s hair or not. In the end she couldn’t resist and began to run her fingers through the slightly damp locks of the girl on top of her. She was hot from the sweat of dancing and singing her heart out, other activities that Sunny and SUngmin had always enjoyed from the taller but younger girl.

“That feels good,” Sooyoung cooed, thankful that Sungmin couldn’t see her face. She was grinning like an idiot and her cheeks were burning red.

“I’m glad,” Sunny calmly replied, continuing the soothing action.

Taeyeon’s mother and Seohyun were talking in the kitchen as Taeyeon and Tiffany washed some dishes. They were all taking turns taking care of the dirty deed throughout the night to be fair.

“Having a lot of fun so far?” Taeyeon asked as she looked at the girl next to her clad in an apron and pink rubber gloves.

“Yes, of course,” Tiffany replied enthusiastically. “It’s always fun when we’re all together like this.”

“I agree,” Taeyeon responded with an ahjumma like laugh, “Not to mention how amazing and ridiculous everyone looks. I’m glad Seohyun made us dress up.”

Tiffany’s laugh, unlike Taeyeon’s dorky one was much more refreshing, “Yes, oh God Jessie and Yuri look so cute together. And Hyo and Yoong’s kigus! Ahhh! And Seohyun’s dress, wow she really worked hard on it, eh? And Sooyoung and Sungmin oppa look so precious together, I can’t stand it!”

“And what about your prince?” Taeyeon asked half shyly, looking away now to focus on the glass she was washing in her hands.

“My prince looks handsome, of course,” Tiffany responded cheerfully, “Especially when she’s next to her princess. I think she looks best then.”

Taeyeon smiled widely to herself and wanted at that very moment to turn to Tiffany and kiss her on the cheek, but she just couldn’t bring herself to do that.

They were silent again as they continued to wash dishes. Tiffany wanted a response, but Taeyeon was too afraid of giving herself away. After all, the gifts shared at midnight might do that work for her and she couldn’t give it away too early.

Before that could happen however, Seohyun walked over.

“Tiffany unnie, you can go back now. Taeyeon unnie and I will finish the dishes and then we can open presents since it’s almost midnight,” the youngest offered, not even giving Tiffany a chance to decline her as she pushed her aside.

“Thank you,” she responded, sighing as she didn’t get the response she wanted from Taeyeon.

Once Tiffany was back, she sang a duet with Jessica and the group waited anxiously for the clock to strike midnight.

As if perfectly on time, once Taeyeon and Seohyun were done with their work, it was exactly the right time to open presents.

“Gather ‘round kiddies!” Taeyeon exclaimed as the girls formed a circle around the table of presents.

“What order should we do this in?” Tiffany asked as they all picked up the present with their name tags on it. She looked extremely pleased with the wrapping on her own present as she was confronted with a big, pink bow.

“Oldest to youngest,” Seohyun answered right away. Of course the girl had it planned ahead.

Taeyeon looked down at her present before rubbing her hands together and laughing, “Yes, alright I wonder what I got!”

Taeyeon wasn’t looking at anyone as she eagerly opened her present. Yoona glanced over at Seohyun and watched in amusement as the girl wriggled in her seat in excitement. She looked a little worried too, but over all she was just adorable.

“Wow wow wow,” Taeyeon repeated as she revealed the gorgeous journal and pens that were hidden under the beautifully wrapped gift. “These are so pretty, ahh! I wanted one of these ah, thank you so much Seohyun!”

The girls gasped in shock at the immediate guess and the girls turned to Seohyun who was embarrassed at her sister getting the answer right away.

“How did you know?!” she asked, slightly out raged.

Taeyeon laughed as she walked over to give her little sister a hug, “You have a very specific way of wrapping paper,” Taeyeon answered the question that littered Seohyun’s face.

“What?” everyone else asked at once.

“I saw this wrapping paper in your room,” Taeyeon added, sticking her tongue out at Seohyun.

“Well that’s not fun,” Sooyoung commented with a shake of her head.

“My turn~” Jessica cooed as she ruthlessly unwrapped her present. “I’m so excited,” she hummed as the present in her lap slowly revealed itself.

Underneath the classic Christmas wrapping covered in cartoon Santas were two reference books, one more the human anatomy and one for objects and landscapes. Jessica smiled widely at her present and gripped it tightly.

“I needed stuff like this!” she cheered, hugging the books tightly to herself.

“Is that book filled with people?” Hyoyeon asked immediately, grinning at the book in Jessica’s hand.

“Oh! I wanna see!!” Sooyoung and Yoona chirped.

Jessica just swatted their hands away, “This is for art, not erts.”

The three girls groaned disappointed, as Jessica looked around the table to guess who got her the presents.

“Hmm, since these three were excited to touch my books, it couldn’t be them. Seohyun’s done so…” she carefully watched the expressions of all the girls who were sitting around her. The darkness from a certain tanned girl’s face left her easy to read.

“Kwon Yuri!” she called out with a straight face. Yuri stiffened at the call of her name and she looked over at Jessica with a half smile. “Thank you,” Jessica continued, her face dissolving into a soft and appreciative expression.

Yuri rubbed the back of her neck and looked down at her own present, “I-It was nothing.”

“My turn!!” Sungmin cried out, waving his present around in the air. “Ohh, feels light. I’m gonna guess they’re clothes?” He continued to shake his gift with a clueless look on his face.

“Just open it you dork!” Sooyoung cried out, wanting to punch her partner for the night.

“Alright,” Sunny replied with a bright smile before ripping the present open in seconds.

Underneath the wrapping revealed a plain box. Upon opening it, Sunny looked in awe at the dress shirt, dress pants and tie that was folded neatly in the box. On top was a small note.

“Read it out loud!” Hyoyeon cheered from the side.

“Dear Sungmin, this is a really nice outfit, yeah? Please wear it on a special occasion like…let’s say your anniversary with S-Sooyoung,” Sooyoung blushed simultaneously with Sunny, “Her birthday, or maybe Valentine’s Day, your choice! Kekekeke, your Secret Santa.”

With that last comment, Sunny looked over at Taeyeon with a smirk, “Why did you give yourself away like that you idiot?” Sungmin called out, almost throwing the box at his ex girlfriend.

“Yeah unnie, you’re the only one who does that kekeke thing at the end of stuff,” Yoona commented, shaking her head at the eldest girl.

“She’s been doing that ever since she got a phone,” Tiffany added with a sigh, “TaeTae did you really think you were being mysterious with that?”

“Shut up,” was the girl’s simple response.

Tiffany was up next and unlike the girls before her, she carefully unwrapped the present in her lap. She wanted to keep the pink bow for later.

“I wonder what it could be?” she mused out loud, using her long nails to break the seal of tape on the box that her present hid under.

Underneath the pretty, snowflake covered box hid two books that Tiffany had been meaning to buy recently and a pink, strawberry covered and scented bookmark.

She giggled in delight, “Ah, thank you so much whoever gave this to me!!!”

“They make scented bookmarks now?” Sungmin asked, being able to smell the item since he was right next to the girl. “That’s weird.”

“Guess who got it for you!” Hyoyeon called out, and the girls eagerly watched Tiffany as she tried to guess. She was never good at these things.

“So Seohyun, Yuri, and Taeyeon are out right? Hmm,” she her chin lightly, her bright smile not leaving her face. “Ah, you all know what books I want so it’s not like I can lower the options! Hmm, was it you Hyoyeon since you asked me to guess first?”

Hyoyeon grinned at her and stared instead of answering.

“Is it?” Tiffany asked again, returning Hyoyeon’s ever growing grin.

Moments passed before Hyoyeon replied with a simple, “Nope.”

“You just wasted our time,” Sooyoung whined, “I wanna open my present!!”

Tiffany pouted as Hyoyeon laughed at her incorrect guess.

“Can’t I get a hint?” she asked, sticking her bottom lip out and giving her friends the cutest look she could muster.

“Okay,” Sooyoung responded, “Only because I want to see what I got. But, the person you got is really pretty, like seriously pretty, so pretty that-“

“Oh, it’s you then,” Tiffany replied confidently, pointing her finger at the tall girl.

“Yeah, you’re the only one here who calls herself pretty,” Yoona added with a shake of her head, “No modesty at all, how can you even date her oppa?”

Sungmin just laughed, “I like her confidence.” Sooyoung immediately blushed which pleased Sunny a lot. It gave her more encouragement that her Christmas plan was going to go well.

Next to go was Hyoyeon whose present was place delicately inside a large gift bag. It was incredibly light, and Hyoyeon frowned when she shook the gift.

“Feels empty,” she commented before reaching her hand inside. But once her fingers made contact with familiar material, she nearly screamed. “Yes!!” she chanted as she pulled the beautiful fitted cap from the bag. “Another one to add to my collection!”

The girls all laughed as Hyoyeon stood up and popped and locked out of happiness before skilfully placing the hat on top of her head.

“Now which one of you ladies or Sungmin gave me this lovely hat?” she asked, eyeing everyone in the room. A girl had a smug look on her face, as if incredibly satisfied.

“Maybe we should just stop trying to guess who gave us the gifts,” Hyoyeon commented with a light laugh as she sat back down. “We’ve been doing this for so long that it’s way too easy to guess who got us our present.”

“And who got you yours?” Jessica asked.

“You!” Hyoyeon answered, giggling when Jessica just nodded at her obviously correct guess. “You had this smug look, Jung! You could at least try to hide it.”

“Maybe we should stop trying to guess who got us the present after this year,” Taeyeon agreed, joining in on Hyoyeon’s laughter. “It’s been too easy for us to guess so far, and come to think of it, it was the same last year.”

“You know who was always hard to guess though?” Yoona brought up, secretly looking over at the only ‘boy’ in the group. “Sunny unnie, she was always good at hiding the fact that she got that present. And she never gave any hints when we were guessing.”

“Ah, you’re right,” Yuri nodded, smiling as she fondly remembered the small girl. “It feels like so long ago, but Sunny was always really good at being secretive.”

“I really miss her,” Tiffany sighed.

“I hate saying this, but I can’t wait until you guys graduate,” Sooyoung added with a small smile, “Because then we get to see her again after all this time. I really miss that midget.”

Sunny could feel her heart hurting at Sooyoung’s words. She wanted to, so badly at that very moment to reveal that she was right there in front of her, but she couldn’t do it.

“But you have this midget for now, right?” Sungmin then piped up, trying to lighten up the situation. “Don’t be sad, Syoungie. You’ll see her soon enough.”

Tiffany aww’d at the scene before her and Sooyoung instantly blushed at the pet name. Taeyeon, Yoona, Seohyun and Jessica stole glances at each other, each girl smiling knowingly.

“My turn!” Yuri cried happily, opening her present quickly. “I wonder what’s in here?”

Yoona immediately started giggling and Seohyun looked at her.

“Unnie! You just gave yourself away,” Seohyun pouted, upset that the guessing part was made too easy at this point.

Yoona just patted the younger girl on the head, “Don’t worry, Hyunnie. There’s only four of us left, there wasn’t really much to guess anyway.”

Inside Yuri’s box was a twin set of bears, one blue and one pink. They were each called Yoon and Yul. The present itself gave the gift owner away.

Yuri screamed in delight and held the bears close to her, “These are so cute Yoong! Thank you so much!!” The two girls who were practically twins ran up to each other and hugged with the two bears suffocating between the two of them.

They were down to three people left, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun with three givers left, Sungmin, Tiffany and Hyoyeon.

Sooyoung’s gift was wrapped a little…roughly and Taeyeon looked over at Sunny as the girls began to communicate telepathically. Apparently, Sunny thought it looked more masculine to wrap a present horribly. Yoona and Hyoyeon held their hands at their mouths as they tried to suppress their giggles at the horrendously wrapped gift.

“Sungmin oppa, thank you,” Sooyoung said with a sweet smile before struggling to open the tape covered present. A little bit of sweat dripped down her forehead as minutes passed and the gift was still left not completely opened.

After Seohyun had gotten scissors, Sooyoung finally managed to crack open the present before her. With a smile, she revealed the beautiful lavender dress that Sunny had picked out for her.

“Ah! This is so cute!” she hummed as she stood up and hugged the dress to her body, “I’ll wear this every time we have a date in the summer, oppa!”

Sunny smiled in relief at Sooyoung’s positive response, but her heart sank at the idea that her words brought. Would they still be together in the summer? But she shook her head of the idea and welcomed the hug that Sooyoung gave to her, a hug that she didn’t expect as she was lost in her own world.

Next was Yoona who cheered and danced at the work out outfit that Tiffany had bought her. She swore to wear the outfit at their next practice and Taeyeon gave the eye smiling girl a thumbs up from her spot as she wordlessly thanked her for helping her with the idea.

Finally, it was Seohyun’s turn to open her gift. Before her was a small bag and she looked over at Hyoyeon as she opened it.

“Thank you, unnie,” she said as she pulled out a beautiful crimson scarf. But her eyes widened as she noticed that Hyoyeon had disappeared.

Out of the blue, Hyoyeon appeared again in her dinosaur kigurumi pride, wagging her tail as she held a beautiful red velvet cake in her hand.

Seohyun covered as it opened in shock at the cake she’d been craving for a while now.

“Cake!” Yoona and Sooyoung exclaimed at once, getting up to almost tackle the short dancer who was balancing the cake in her hands.

Kris Kringle was a huge success.

As Hyoyeon and Seohyun exchanged words and cut the cake, Taeyeon went over to the Christmas tree and filled the empty Kris Kringle table with all the other gifts that the girls had brought.

Seohyun sank her teeth into the cake and hummed at the rich taste. Hyoyeon patted the girl on the head and cheered for her obvious success at a present choice.

“Delicious, right?” she asked as she dug into her own piece of cake. Seohyun nodded furiously at her unnie and continued to silently enjoy the dessert in her hands.

“More presents!!” Yuri cheered as the girls searched the table for their own names.

Taeyeon and Seohyun had purchased a gift for everyone, while Sungmin and Sooyoung had purchased gifts for each other. Yuri had also brought a gift for Jessica and Yoona for Seohyun. Not everyone had purchased gifts for not everyone had the budget that Taeyeon and Seohyun had. They agreed that Kris Kringle was enough but they were extremely thankful for the extra gifts provided by the siblings who hosted the party.

While everyone opened their presents, Taeyeon helped Seohyun bring the keyboard from the recreational room to the living room where the girls were sitting. Seohyun had prepared a song.

“I should really get my writing into a physical song too,” Taeyeon grunted as the two girls pushed the rolling keyboard into the next room.

“You shouldn’t rush those things unnie,” Seohyun replied, her clear eyes and wide smile expressing how excited she was about the whole ordeal.

“I can’t wait to hear your song,” Taeyeon continued after heaving a sigh of relief. The keyboard was finally moved.

Hyoyeon had received a gorgeous set of headphones from the siblings and was wearing it around her neck. It was an expensive pair so she felt a little bad at first, but she knew that the girls wouldn’t want her to feel that way. Instead, she was thankful and excited to use them for the first time.

Yoona received an adorable keroro winter hat from Seohyun and a pair of red and black running shoes from Taeyeon. She wore both right away.

Tiffany received a quil writing set from Seohyun and a beautiful heart necklace from Taeyeon. She smiled warmly at the gifts, ignoring the blush that crept on her face as she asked Jessica to place the silver jewelry around her neck. She made note to thoroughly thank Taeyeon later. It also came with a small note, but she hadn’t had the chance to read it since Seohyun and Taeyeon brought the keyboard in right before she opened it.

Yuri received a thermal hoodie from Seohyun that was ideal for workouts and a matching pair of pants from Taeyeon. Inside was also a small note that Yuri couldn’t stop smiling at.

Merry Christmas, Yuri! I know you probably got something grand for Sica, right? I’m cheering for you two!! If you ever want some advice for how to woo our princess, don’t be afraid to ask. I know you’ll treat her right, and I have a feeling she might be willing to reciprocate your feelings. Perhaps during the Christmas or New Years season, a miracle might happen? Kekekeke.

Their eldest was truly a dork.

Jessica had received a baking recipe and American style cook book from the siblings. Her lips twitched at the gift and the card that told her that she needed to start practicing cooking for her future partner. But the straight face melted when she also revealed a set of blue gloves, scarf and hat that Taeyeon also provided in her present. They looked so warm, which Jessica was thankful for considering that the weather only got colder.

She was surprised and yet not surprised to find that Yuri had also gotten her something. She felt a little sorry considering she didn’t have the time or money to purchase her anything, but made a mental note to make her something in the near future.

Jessica opened the small box to find a charm bracelet that had a paintbrush, pencil, canvas, journal, typewriter and other strange charms on it. She never knew that such charms existed but it was adorable nonetheless. Along with it came a silver necklace with a snowflake on it. She read the note immediately. She giggled for it was in Yuri’s awful English handwriting.

For my artist and always cold and rough princess, Sica. You better wear these always! I’ll be watching. Merry Christmas!

She couldn’t stop smiling as she looked over at Yuri who was looking at her hesitantly. Immediately, she stood up and walked over to the taller girl and pulled her close into a hug.

Sungmin received a wooden katana from both of the girls. She was surprised because she swore that she only mentioned her hidden kendo hobby once since she got back. She was thankful nonetheless and admired the beautiful finish on the wooden practice sword. In a smaller box, Sunny gently opened it, knowing it was from Sooyoung.

She felt shy and tried to pretend she was overly occupied with her own gifts as she stole glances from Sooyoung who was opening her own gift. She swore she saw a blush.

When she finally opened her own box, she couldn’t help but chuckle at the silver locket with a picture of Sooyoung on the inside. There was a note as well.

I’m yours, oppa. Only look at your Sooyoung, okay?

There was a tugging, annoying feeling in her heart but she ignored it for the absolute bliss she was feeling at having her own personal locket with a picture of Sooyoung in it. Sunny was certain she’d be staring at the picture constantly. Placing the locket around her neck, she bravely walked over to Sooyoung.

Sooyoung had received several gift cards to her favourite restaurants and several music books from the siblings. Immediately she thought of treating Yoona and Sungmin to some delicious food the next day. She smiled brightly at the note Taeyeon had left inside the music books.

Sooyoungie!! You have a wonderful voice, you know? It’s been wonderful practicing with you, but you should really sing more you know! Try these out and sing with your older sister or even Sungmin, or me! I look forward to continuing to work with you for our beloved talent show. Also, don’t be afraid to be more assertive with Sungmin oppa. I am certain that his feelings for you are genuine, yeah? Kekeke, Merry Christmas!!

Her heart started beating a little too fast as she opened Sungmin’s present next. This gift was obviously wrapped much better. She was tempted to ask the boy if he asked his mother to wrap this one for him but she decided to hold back on the teasing.

Sooyoung wondered if the gift was anything like what she gave Sungmin. The box was fairly small so she was certain that it was a piece of jewelry. She looked up to see the heart glistening on Tiffany’s neck and the snowflake on Jessica’s. She wondered what would be on hers.

opened slightly as she admired the silver jewelry placed in front of her. She had never seen this type of necklace before though. On the centre of the chain was a small infinity symbol. It was a beautiful design but Sooyoung kind of wished it was a heart. But at the same time, she was extremely delighted at how unique the design was.

Merry Christmas Sooyoungie! I hope you like the present oppa got for you. It’s pretty, right? I bought this back in America. I intended on giving it to my first girlfriend. Taeyeon and I broke up before I even thought about giving this to her, I guess deep down inside I always knew that we didn’t like each other romantically. You’re different, however. Be prepared, because the stuff I’m going to say now is a little embarrassing and I’d probably never be willing to say this in person. The infinity sign means that I’ll be here for you, always. I was always certain that when I fell for a girl, I’d always like her, and that she would be the only one in my heart. So that’s what it means, that hopefully, we’ll be together always. Now, I know we haven’t been dating for that long, but know this Sooyoung, I really do enjoy being your boyfriend and I hope I can continue doing this into the New Year. Anyway, my hand is cramping from all this cheesy writing, so I guess the future me will be hiding by now. Happy Holidays!

P.S By always, I mean always, no matter what. I hope you take this to heart, and no matter what obsticles we face in the future, you’ll stand by me as well.

P.P.S Good thing you’re into cheesy stuff of I’d be in big trouble.

Sooyoung could feel herself crying at this point. She was so overwhelmed with feelings that tears had filled her eyes. She had always been called a cry baby, so she didn’t look to anyone for comfort since they’d probably .

However, Sungmin had come up to her at this point and he wrapped an arm around her waist.

“You hate my present so much that you’re crying?” he asked in fake astonishment. Sunny cheered on the inside for her success.

“Shut up,” Sooyoung replied weakly before pulling Sungmin in close for a tight embrace.

Sunny feared giving the present, but it was extremely forward. But she needed to do something like that, and she knew Sooyoung loved overly romantic gifts. They hadn’t even kissed yet and she made promises of forevers and always with the infinity necklace. She prepared herself as she held the taller girl close and inhaled her delicious scent. Surely, that kiss would be coming soon.
