Tongue Tied

Sunny was the first to get up.

Her eyes fluttered open once the sunlight that seeped through the curtains made contact with her face. She groaned lowly, trying her hardest to maintain her boyish charms in case anyone else was awake.

The faux boy looked down at her chest and found Sooyoung in a rather amusing position, slightly different from the one she fell asleep in. She was no longer wrapped around her, but instead her limbs were sprawled across the piece of furniture. It was a wonder how she didn’t fall right off.

Sunny giggled to herself before placing a chaste kiss on her girlfriend’s forehead. may have been hanging open and there may have been a little bit of drool spilling out from it, but Sunny somehow found the sight to be absolutely breathtaking.

Alas, she had to make her escape. Her binder was killing her and she knew it was dangerous to keep it on any longer.

Carefully, she lifted the girl on top of her and managed to switch their bodies’ positions so she was the one on top. With another kiss, this time on the cheek, she got off the recliner and looked for her stuff.

As Sunny got ready to leave, Taeyeon was making her way downstairs. She heard the shuffling and wondered who was up already.

“Sunny?” she whispered as she finally spotted her best friend putting her shoes on, “Why are you leaving? Sooyoungie will be sad if you leave before breakfast.”

Sunny sighed as she approached Taeyeon. Without saying anything, she pointed to her chest and Taeyeon immediately realized that the usual ample s that she saw in the morning wasn’t there, but instead was the flat chest that Sunny wore to keep her charade going.

“Oh, I get it. I’ll tell her your mom called you or something?” Taeyeon shrugged and bit her lip as she imagined that it must have been difficult to breathe under such conditions.

“Thanks Taengoo,” Sunny replied before giving an appreciative bow, “I can’t wait to let my girls go. If anyone asks, I’m busy all day with family stuff. I can’t wear that damn thing again all day.”

Taeyeon nodded knowingly, “Yeah take a break from Sungmin. If you feel lonely though, don’t feel too shy to call me over.”

“I know,” Sunny responded with a laugh, “I’ll probably do that later to be honest. But don’t hesitate to tell me if you’re with your girlfriend, I won’t mind if you pick her over me.”

However, Taeyeon’s expression darkened and Sunny almost flinched at the sudden change.

“Actually, we need to talk about her,” Taeyeon mumbled bitterly, “Last night…something happened.”

Sunny furrowed her brow and wanted so badly to hear the news now, but she knew that some things had to wait. She nodded her head, “Alright Taengoo, good luck for now then. We’ll catch up later, yeah?”

Taeyeon managed a small smile before waving her best friend good bye and closing the door after her. As soon as she was alone she let out a sigh and slumped against the door.

“If she wants to stay over again today I’m in big trouble,” she grumbled to herself, rubbing her temple with her fingers.

Taeyeon went back upstairs and noticed that it was only 7AM in the morning and they had only gone to bed a few hours prior. With a stretch, she walked down the upstairs hallway and noticed that the door to her little sister’s room was slightly open. She couldn’t resist her curiousity and peeked in. She giggled to herself and covered so that her sounds couldn’t be heard. Seohyun was sleeping soundly and Yoona was awake, the girl’s hair. It was an angelic and incredibly innocent scene and Taeyeon was sure she would tease Yoona about it later.

Creeping away from the door carefully, Taeyeon made her way to her own room. Slowly opening the door, she checked to see if her princess from the previous night had stirred at all. Tiffany was curled up in a ball, just the way she was when Taeyeon left her side.

When Taeyeon slid back into bed, she immediately felt arms wrap around her waist and she blushed before grumbling.

“What are you doing to me, Fany?” she whispered to no one as Tiffany snuggled close against her body. “I’m going crazy here.”

Still sleeping, the other girl didn’t respond and simply nuzzled closer to Taeyeon. The older girl let out a sigh and placed her arms around the younger safely and closed her eyes again. Her frustrations quickly disappeared and she found dream land once more.

No one stirred again until about 11AM. Taeyeon and Seohyun’s parents were very much aware of how the girls were up until an ungodly hour and prepared breakfast for them and let them have their rest.

Seohyun was having too comfortable of a sleep to get up at her usual time. That and Yoona just happened to tamper with her alarm clock so that they could sleep in. She knew how much energy the youngest spent the night before and she needed more than enough sleep.

Once she felt well rested, Seohyun’s eyes burst open and she yawned before gracefully stretching on her bed. She smiled at the sleeping girl who was tightly grasping onto her and kissed her forehead.

“Yoona unnie, wake up,” she spoke softly and pushed some hair out of the girl’s face.

Yoona heard the angelic voice and her eyes shot open, as if reacting to a trigger. She felt groggy and rubbed her eyes so that her vision could be clear. Looking up, she felt incredibly blessed to see Seohyun looking down at her with smiling eyes. She reached up and the younger girl’s face, pleased when she rubbed her face into her palm accordingly. If only she could wake up every morning like that, then it wouldn’t be so difficult.

“What time is it?” Yoona asked with a faint yawn. She didn’t let go of her girlfriend and simply squeezed her victim harder, causing her to squeak.

“It’s 11, we should really get up now,” Seohyun replied, placing her hands over Yoona’s arms and softly tried to pry them off her. “As much as I would love to spend the day in bed with you, the rest of our unnies are probably awake and wondering what’s taking us so long.”

Yoona refused to let go and used her strength to pull herself on top of Seohyun. She smiled at the beauty underneath her as she blushed and kissed her forehead.

“Are you kidding, Hyunnie? Those kids are probably still sleeping. If anything, Taengoo unnie is probably the only one up.”

Seohyun pouted but her blush refused to go away, “Hyoyeon unnie is probably awake, come on Yoong let’s go.”

And suddenly she felt butterflies in her stomach. She didn’t say unnie, and she used her nickname. Seohyun has never done both before.

“Say that again,” she demanded, giving Seohyun the toothiest grin she could muster.

Seohyun could only raise her eyebrow in confusion, “Hyoyeon unnie is probably awake?” She tilted her head and read Yoona’s expression, “And we should go downstairs?”

Yoona could only sigh in defeat and got off her girlfriend, “Nevermind. Fine, let’s go see the others Hyunnie.”

She had moved to the edge of the bed and Seohyun missed feeling her weight pressed against her. Of course, she had felt the sensation many times before, but sleeping together for the first time after becoming official was special and she was certain she’d remember this specific feeling forever.

Yoona reached her hand out and grabbed Seohyun’s equally long and slim fingers and intertwined them like she always had and always will. She gave her girlfriend a smile and pulled her up.

Tiffany groaned when she felt a breeze fill the empty space next to her. Her eyes were closed but she could easily tell that the girl who filled the spot next to her was no longer there. The light snoring and occasional sleep talking could no longer be heard and she frowned. Finally feeling up to the challenge, she opened her eyes and found out that she was right.

“Taeyeon?” she whispered into nothing, moving her arms to touch the spot next to her. It was still warm.

She turned over and forced herself to sit up. She was definitely still sleepy, but nothing that a little stretching couldn’t get rid of. Once she was fully aware of her surroundings, she inspected the room to find that Taeyeon was definitely not there anymore.

That’s when the door opened to reveal a messy haired and baby faced girl that Tiffany grew to love and cherish. She was dressed in the same outfit as the night before and Tiffany couldn’t help but notice the bags under her eyes.

“Fany? Oh, you’re awake. The other girls are in the process of waking up downstairs. I just left to check on them,” she said before letting out a rather long yawn.

Instead of speaking however, Tiffany opened her arms and beckoned Taeyeon to come over. She was still frowning, upset that the girl had left her alone.

Taeyeon let out a sigh before slowly walking over to the sleepy and needy girl in her bed. She let out a small laugh and wrapped her arms around Tiffany loosely before tightening her grip in response to Tiffany pulling her closer.

“How dare you leave me alone,” she groaned into Taeyeon’s shoulder.

The older girl refused to look at Tiffany and simply stared into the wall next to her. She sighed again and slowly rubbed circles into her back, “I only left for a moment. I had to check on the other girls.”

“That wasn’t the only time,” Tiffany retaliated, “You left earlier for a long time.”

“I was just saying goodbye to Sungmin,” Taeyeon responded, her eyes widening at Tiffany’s complaints. Why was she being so clingy suddenly? “I’m sorry, did I upset you?”

Tiffany groaned again and gripped tightly onto Taeyeon’s shirt, “Don’t leave me alone for too long TaeTae. I missed you.”

Downstairs, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun were happily eating on the delicious breakfast their hosts’ parents set up for them. Jessica was still sleeping soundly on the couch and no girl dared to bother her.

Tiffany was the first to enter the kitchen, her hand gripping tightly onto Taeyeon’s and dragging her inside.

“Morning guys!” Tiffany greeted, pushing Taeyeon into a seat next to Seohyun and sitting herself beside her.

“Morning,” the rest of the girls chimed in unison before going back to their food.

Taeyeon smiled at her friends who were stuffing themselves on fruits, pancakes, bagels and bacon. She would occasionally worry about her friends who were constantly working out or dancing and look so skinny, but would always be relieved when they ate through portion after portion of food. It amazed her how they never seemed to grow at all.

Ten minutes later, Jessica walked into the kitchen with half lidded eyes and open wide as yawn after yawn spilled out. The rest of the girls greeted her loudly as if trying to wake her up further.

“I could hear you guys chewing from the living room,” she complained before taking a seat next to Tiffany and Yuri. “I’m surprised and not surprised at the amount you’re eating after eating all of the snacks Taeng and Seo prepared the night before.”

Looking around, Jessica noticed a face was missing. “Oy, where’s the shorty oppa?”

“He left home early,” Taeyeon replied, “His mom called him or something.”

“Oh, too bad,” Jessica replied with another yawn. She leaned on the table and took her fill of food.

“Since when did you care so much about Sungmin oppa?” Hyoyeon asked, “Last time I remembered that you two were on bad terms.”

Jessica shrugged nonchalantly, “We became friends. He wasn’t with Taengoo anymore so I found no reason to be hostile towards him.”

Hyoyeon just laughed, “So what, if another person got together with Taeyeon you’d be antagonistic towards them?”

Yuri and Taeyeon looked at Jessica expantedly and Jessica looked up as she thought. Yuri tried her best to supress any jealous thoughts and simply clenched her fist under the table.

“Maybe,” she responded with a shrug, “I don’t know. Are you gonna show up with another mysterious boyfriend anytime soon, Taengoo?”

She looked at Taeyeon then glanced briefly at her other best friend who was also looking at Taeyeon for an answer.

“Don’t worry guys,” Taeyeon replied, holding her hands up in defense, “Sungmin was the first and last surprise boyfriend.”

“Hold up,” Sooyoung interrupted, raising her fork as she tried to swallow the piece of strawberry in . “Why does the topic of Sungmin turn to Taeng and not to me? I’m the girlfriend.”

The girls just laughed at Sooyoung’s point before rolling their eyes simultaneously.

“Sorry, unnie,” Yoona started before sticking her tongue out, “Are you upset that Sungmin oppa left so early?”

“As a matter of fact, yes,” Sooyoung responded with a solemn nod, “I wanted to wake up to his adorable face.”

Yuri, Hyoyeon and Yoona made a mocking gagging face at each other before having blueberries flung at them from a tall enemy.

“Oy, no throwing of food!” Taeyeon demanded as she got up to pick up the poor and sullied fruit.

“Sorry, Taengoo. Anyway,” her angry face immediately dissolved into a cheesy smile, “He did text me a good morning though, so I’m not completely angry with him.”

“Just marry him already,” Hyoyeon commented as she laughed at her love stricken friend.

Taeyeon, Yoona, Seohyun and Jessica exchanged quick and hesitant looks.

“Please let me be your wedding planner,” Tiffany piped up excitedly, “I have a huge pink binder dedicated to that kind of stuff.”

Sooyoung raised her hands, “Whoa, whoa, guys. I don’t know about marriage yet, but I do like him a lot. I’m thinking of finally giving him some of the couple stuff I’ve been collecting over the years.”

“Hasn’t it collected dust by now?” Yuri asked, “Or did you keep them in some kind of sacred boyfriend box in preparation.”

“No!” Sooyoung responded with a huff, “It’s not that old! Anyway, my parents love him too, so I think he’s staying for a while. But there’s one more person that he needs their approval of.”

“Who is that, unnie?” Seohyun asked, afraid of the answer. Yoona looked at her knowingly before looking over at Taeyeon and Jessica who looked slightly panicked.

“Sunny of course,” Sooyoung replied with a nod, “Since she’s coming for our graduation, she can meet him then. Once he gets her approval then we can totally get married somewhere down the line.”

Yoona almost choked on the pancake she was chewing on and Seohyun frantically patted her back to help her spit it out.

“Whoa, are you okay?” Hyoyeon asked concerned, “You always eat fast but I’ve never seen you choke on your food.” She walked over to Yoona and rubbed her back, “Drink some water kiddo.”

Sooyoung looked at Yoona, “Do you not think Sunny will approve of Sungmin or something?” she asked seriously. “That was a really strong reaction.”

Yoona shook her head furiously as she tried to down the rest of her water. She calmed herself down and found a way to breathe again before looking at Sooyoung, “Don’t worry, I don’t know how that happened.”

Jessica and Taeyeon exchanged looks but Tiffany didn’t fail to notice it. She made a note in the back of her head to ask them about it later.

“Well, be more careful shikshin junior,” Sooyoung stated with a shake of her head, “You just got together with our maknae, don’t leave her so quickly.” She winked at her best friend as she turned a faint pink. Seohyun also couldn’t help but blush at her words, trying her best to focus on getting Yoona more water.

Slowly the girls vacated the house. Sooyoung left to do some studying while Hyoyeon and Yuri went to meet with other members of the dance crew for practice. Tiffany was packing her things when she thought she overheard her two best friends speaking.

“Taeng, can we talk later?” Jessica whispered, but it was loud enough for the spying Tiffany to hear.

“I know we should probably talk, but I’m going to oppa’s house later,” Taeyeon’s tone was a little strange and Tiffany couldn’t put her finger on it.

“Text me then,” Jessica responded before turning away, “I’m gonna head home.”

As she left Taeyeon, she met up with Tiffany who was pressed against the wall. Tiffany immediately stood up and laughed off her awkward position.

“You okay?” Jessica asked with a little laugh, “You look as pale as Taeyeon.”

“I’m fine,” Tiffany replied at a reasonable pace. She thanked God for her ability to change faces in seconds.

“Alright then, I’ll see you later then,” Jessica waved and made her way to the door but stopped when Tiffany grabbed her wrist and twirled her around.

“What is it?” she asked, slightly aggravated, “If you wanted something you should have said it in the five seconds we were just speaking.”

Tiffany laughed her best friend’s behaviour off, “How about we go get dinner later? It’s been a while since it was just the two of us.”

Jessica thought about whether she had plans or not and she frowned when she remembered that she had none. In fact, she was a little disappointed that a certain someone hadn’t asked her out after the previous night’s little spectacle.

She shrugged and let out a sigh, “I’m free. Let’s go grab a bite to eat then.”

Tiffany pouted and shook her fellow American slightly, “Come on Jesse, don’t sound so reluctant to eat with your best girlfriend.”

Jessica rolled her eyes and made her best effort to not make a joke about Taeyeon being her girlfriend when she knew that the girl was just in the other room.

“Yeah, Fany let’s go eat later!” she said in the clearest English she had spoken in ages, giving a peace sign to Tiffany. She received a smack on the shoulder and the two girls burst into laughter.

Yoona and Seohyun stayed at home all day and watched marathons of Seohyun’s favourite anime. It was different this time however, for Yoona knew that she had every right to hold Seohyun in her arms as they watched. Neither girl moved from their place on the couch and just enjoyed each others’ company. Yoona especially enjoyed Seohyun’s laughter and ability to accurately quote certain scenes.

The two girls were so engrossed in their activity that they barely noticed when Taeyeon stepped out of the house and absently waved goodbye.

As much as Taeyeon wanted to admire the new relationship that had blossomed the night before, she had to see her best friend.

---

Sunny was home alone, for her parents were doing some late Christmas shopping. The actual day was very close. She wore a thick, red and tacky Christmas sweater that hid her braless s well. She also wore a pair of loose shorts and was lying down on the couch, texting Sooyoung.

She knew that the girl was busy with studying, an activity she made her do, but she couldn’t help but ask her how she was doing.

Working hard or hardly working?

Oppaaaa~ You assigned way too much.

No, you just left it to last minute like usual!

It’s the holidays! You should let your girlfriend relax more

We made a deal, Syoungie.

Yah! Why don’t you call me that more often in person?

What? Don’t change the subject! I shouldn’t have texted you, get to work!

Meany!

I promise I’ll make it up to you, like I said before.

That’s when her doorbell rang. Sunny knew exactly who it was and got up, continuing to reply while heading to her door.

It better be a good prize.

Has Oppa ever disappointed?

That’s embarrassing, I’m not answering that!

As Sunny laughed and tried her best to text back and walk, she tripped on some of the shoes near the doorway. With a groan, she pushed herself off the ground and decided that maybe it’s best not to multi task.

I’ll text you later, babe. Mom needs me again.

Alright, oppa. Text me soon!

I will! Now get back to work, kid!

You’re dating this kid!

Sunny simply shook her head before opening the door to greet a shivering Taeyeon.

“Yo,” she greeted, leaving room for Taeyeon to get in past her. “Sorry to keep you waiting. I was texting Sooyoung.”

“I’m not surprised,” Taeyeon huffed as she got out of her winter clothes. It was still snowing and her clothes made every effort to allow the cold substance to stick onto her. She shook her jacket and threw it onto Sunny. “Thanks, bud,” she said with a salute.

As the two got comfortable, they walked upstairs to Sunny’s room to sit on her bed in case her parents came in the middle of their conversation.

Right when Taeyeon entered her best friend’s room she charged straight for the bed before flopping on top of it. She turned over and placed her hand comfortably under her head before taking in her surroundings.

“Things sure have changed,” she muttered as she took in the pictures of ‘Sunny’ and Sooyoung that were scattered all over the room. “This used to be filled with pictures of us.”

Sunny plopped down right next to Taeyeon, her head resting on her stomach. “You jealous?” she teased before poking the girl underneath her.

Taeyeon just shook her head, “Naw, you two make a great couple.”

“Don’t remind me,” Sunny groaned. She couldn’t deny that the previous night was perfect, more than perfect even. But with each perfect day spent with Sooyoung, they were a day closer to the dreaded day where she was going to tell her the truth. “Anyway, we’re here to talk about you and Fany. What happened last night?”

She had to switch the subject, for now. But Taeyeon was itching to talk about it considering what happened during breakfast. However, she pushed it aside and made room for the ever growing feelings of agitation she was building up because of the girl she was in love with.

“Last night,” she took in a deep breath and closed her eyes as she tried to envision what happened the night before. “I kissed her.”
