Fluffy.

Everything around me is fluffy.

I never felt like sleeping would be this so good. Thanks to Amber for forcing me to go to a spa after that gruelling time at the rehearsal studio.

I tried to roll around but something is holding me in place.

Ugghh...not again, Amber.

For a few months that we’ve been friends, Amber grew a habit to invade my personal space. Not in a bad way but she always like to steal my food from a plate; grab my phone when i’m using it; hide my things and put them in unusual places. I could’ve been mad at her but i can’t. One pout from a dongsaeng , then we’re okay again.

Days like this couldn’t be more ordinary. Like right now, she likes to barge in my room to lay down next to me to pretend that I’ve slept with some stranger.

I grabbed her arms without opening my eyes and shout at her.

“Amber yah! You’ve got to think of another prank to pull! It’s getting old!”

“Amber? Who’s Amber?” said by a familiar voice. I suddenly opened my eyes and rolled abruptly to see if i’m getting those weird hallucinations again.

“Yoona?!” I mumbled as I sat up, my eyes are still glued to the girl whom i never seen in months.

My eyes roamed all over her trying to see if there are any signs that i’m still dreaming. I couldn’t remember how she looked the last time I saw her but right now she seems prettier. No, scratch that, she’s gorgeous as ever. Her hair colour changed from her brownish one to a darker one. Her hair grew longer and i also noticed that she looked thinner. She’s still like an angel.

As i looked at her, thoughts from the incident months ago came flooding into my mind. This girl in front of me left me confused and hurt. She left me without saying anything about what she really felt about me. I could’ve been mad at her, yell at her for putting me in such misery. I want to hurt her for hurting me, but i can’t. All I did was to stare at her.

“Yuri unnie, y-you looked better than I expected.”  She mumbled.

We looked at each other, as if we’re afraid that if we looked away, one of us might disappear. We stayed like this, for minutes, thinking what to say after all this time.

“Yah! Yoonyul! Breakfast time!” Sooyoung shouted from the closed door as she banged it.

We broke out of our staring contest and I scrambled out of bed hurriedly, then I ran towards the door. What is going on back there? I’m supposed to be happy that Yoona is back but I don’t know, I want to ask her tons of questions but I don’t know where to start. I want to ask what happened to her and Taecyeon oppa that night. I want to ask if Taecyeon oppa is telling the truth about her feelings towards me. My heart that’s yearning for her wakes up from a very long slumber, I sighed that my heart is beating again. But my brain is telling me otherwise.

“Goodmorning, ZombieYul. How was your sleep?” Taeyeon asked me as she handed me a glass of water. I took it and drank it greedily. Man, I feel like I’ve run a mile.

“It’s good.” I replied as I put the glass on the sink and watch Seohyun and Sunny cooked our breakfast. I leaned back on the counter beside Taeyeon who’s been busy reading an instruction from a box of pancake.

Just then, Sooyoung and Hyoyeon dragged Yoona to the kitchen. The two were putting Yoona on a headlock as they were fighting for dominance.

“Yah. Cut it out.” Taeyeon said, absentmindedly as she continued to read off the box. The three shrugged and pulled out from each other’s grasp.

“Man, i miss my fellow shikshin, Yoong.” Sooyoung sighed as she tried to steal the bacon that Sunny was frying but the little fellow is quicker so she slapped Sooyoung’s hand and stick her tongue out.

“Soo felt it’s no fun when we just let her have our food. She misses the competition with you.” Hyoyeon giggled as she leaned by the fridge.

Yoona smiled at her as she sat beside Jessica who’s been busy making a perfect caramel coffee for her girlfriend by the dining table.

Sooyoung walked towards me and put an arm around me.

“So, how are you, ZombieYul? Are we going to say good bye to you now that Yoona is here? We’re going to miss your lifeless ways.” She said.

I looked at Yoona and saw her paused when she heard what Sooyoung said. I felt that everyone in the kitchen is sensing for Yoona’s reaction as they continued doing what they’re doing.

“ZombieYul?” Yoona asked.

“Oh, it’s just a nickname we gave after—“ Sooyoung said but she was interrupted by someone who barged in.

“ANNEYEONG KOREAN FRIENDS!!!” Amber yelled as she walked in the kitchen with a bag of food.

“We brought food! American Food!” Krystal skipped with a bag of food in her hands. When Jessica and Tiffany saw Krystal, they immediately scooted away from each other.

“Good thing you brought food! I thought we’re going to die because it took so long for Sunny and Seohyun to cook food.” Sooyoung said as she opened box after box of foods.

“Woah, am i dreaming? Yuri unnie is already awake! Hallelujiah!” Amber teased me. I giggled at her energy.

“Yah! Shut up!” I smiled and i looked at Yoona who seemed glaring at Amber and me. She noticed me looking at her, so she turned towards Sunny and started talking with her. Amber also noticed me watching Yoona and turned to see her.

“Oh, Yoona-sshi is back. She looked great.” Amber commented.

“Yeah.” I murmured.

“So, how was your heart?” Amber whispered at me. I looked at her, astounded, from what she said.

“I-uh...” I started but then I heard Krystal screamed.

“OMG! YOONA UNNIE YOU’RE BACK!!!” Krystal said as she hugged a stunned Yoona.

“Yah, Krystal why are you always fangirling?” Jessica yelled.

Krystal sticks her tongue out and said, “You’re just jealous because i look more like Yoona unnie than you. I can be more popular than you once we debut and i’ll be the face of f(x).”

“Such a child.” Jessica rolled her eyes at her sister.

“Accept the fact, sis. I looked like Yoona unnie and I can be y like Yuri unnie.” Krystal sister as she danced mockingly.

We all laughed at the two sisters. Good thing their just having verbal war but most of the time they were too violent when they fight.

“Yoona, please forgive me for having a sister like Krystal. Maybe my mom bumped her tummy when she’s pregnant that’s why Krystal’s brain is skewed. Anyways, krystal  is a part of a new girl group called f(x) alongside with that man-girl beside Yul. She’s Amber. There are other members as well but these two are our constant visitors.” Jessica explained.

Yoona nodded as she looked back at Amber and me. She smiled shyly at me and looked at Amber whose too busy eating the bacon that Sunny cooked earlier.

“Yuri unnie, want some?” Amber said as she offered me bacon. Before i could take the bacon from Amber’s hand, I heard Yoona called my name.

“Unnie, have you drink your Ma juice? I know it’s your routine to drink that every day.” Yoona pointed out.

I looked at her confused. I stopped drinking those after she left because it’s a constant reminder for me how Yoona reminds me to drink it despite of her hatred towards my morning juice.

“N-not yet. I’ll get one of those later.” I mumbled.

“You drink Ma juice? I never saw you drink one of those. You told me once that you hated it when i saw some of it in your fridge.

I gazed at Yoona who’s expecting my answer. “I never said i hated it.” I said without looking away from Yoona. I know that everybody felt the tension building in between Yoona and I. They know what I ‘ve been through while Yoona was gone. I didn’t give a damn anymore if they knew my feelings towards her or not, I know my girls accept me like they accept Fany and Sica. I also know that they’re waiting for my outburst towards Yoona but I can’t. Yoona, being here has not yet sinking in me

As for Amber, i think she’s too oblivious from Yoona’s glares towards her.

‘If you hadn’t left me, we could still be like what Amber and I have’ my subconscious said.

“So, since we have food now, courtesy of the maknaes, what are we going today? It’s Sunday!” Taeyeon exclaimed.

Suddenly the girls started to suggest different things to do to hang out.

“All right shut up!” the kid leader yelled and all of a sudden, they stopped.

“Okay, since, Yoona just got here, why don’t we let her choose?” all the girls nodded and set their eyes towards the beautiful girl.

“How about karaoke?” she suggested. The girls cheered and we all agreed to go karaoke. We all went to our respective rooms to get ready.

Things started to get awkward now that the two of us are alone. It seems like there are not just one but a bunch of elephants in the room.

“I’ll go to shower first, is that okay? You can rest for a while if you want to.” I said, i didn’t even wait for her answer and I turned towards our bathroom.

I washed up quickly and went out of the bathroom. I saw Yoona already dressed up and she’s playing with the Yoongsan doll on my bed. I grabbed some clothes from the closet and laid them down on my bed. As i was starting to peel of the towel that i’m wearing, I looked at Yoona who’s seemed still busy from playing the doll. I removed my towel and turned my back on her and started to dress quickly. I know we’re used to see each other almost from years of sharing dorms but with my feelings with Yoona, i couldn’t help but blush. I turned to grab my shirt on the bed and i caught Yoona watching me as i was putting on my clothes. She saw me looking at her, so she blushed and turned her back towards me.

As i was putting on my jeans, i heard Yoona said, “So, that’s Amber, huh?”

I stopped from buttoning my pants and turned towards her, but her back was still facing me.

“What?” I asked

“The one you got mistaken me for, when you saw me on your bed earlier.”

I suddenly remembered the embarrassing moment earlier.

“Yeah, she’s Amber.”

“You seemed close.” She said nonchalantly.

“S-she’s fun to be around. A very good maknae, plus she’s going to perform with me on a solo.”

“Oh? That’s good.” She said slyly. We went quiet for a while, trying to find words to say just to avoid the obvious questions hanging.

I don’t get why she always glaring at Amber, she’s a very nice girl. Amber has been there for me when i needed Yoona. She made me laugh, she made me realized what it feels like to be alive again with her personality. She’s the one who knows everything about what i felt towards Yoona and I’m glad that she’s my secret keeper.  I owe a lot to Amber.

“Unnie!” Seohyun cried as she came into our room. “I saw Sica unnie and Fany unnie making out again!”

I laughed at our innocent Seohyun. I don’t know if she’ll get used of girls making out in front of her.

“What are you doing in their room anyway?” Yoona asked, totally amused at her fellow maknae.

“Taengoo unnie told me to call Sica unnie and Fany unnie because we’re leaving soon and she knows that those two are making out again. I went to their room but when I opened the door they’re going at it!” Seohyun exclaimed.

Yoona and I laughed at Seohyun and hugged her. “Okay, we’ll let them be for a while. We know they just missed each other because they can’t be together now that Krystal is always here.” I smiled at the maknae.

All of us were gathered at a KTV bar near our dorm. One of the perks of being famous is we got our own secret entrance to prevent madness from the people.

“Man, i love karaoke! Let’s play a game!” Sooyoung yelled as all of us cheered in agreement with Sooyoung and her mischief. “I’ll be your DJ Soo, I’ll be the one to choose a song for you to sing. If you don’t sing that song, you’ll get a punishment from me!” We all groaned because we know how extreme Sooyoung and her punishments. We all agreed and we started our game.

We never thought that this game would be so much fun because of Sooyoung’s choice of songs. We laugh when she make Seohyun sing a song with full of curse words, the innocent maknae just blushed as she sang the song. Sooyoung also made Taeyeon struggled with a song that has no high notes; Sunny and her English rap songs, Hyoyeon and her most boring song, Sica and Fany’s duet on their song that seems a lot awkward because they’re avoiding each other even though Krystal is too busy talking with Seohyun.

“Okay, Yuri, you’re next!” Sooyoung said mischieveously.

I’m usually game with Sooyoung’s pranks and all but this time i don’t why i ‘m all nervous.

Don’t be such a baby, Yul. It’s just a song. I told myself.

“The song for you is... ‘I think I by Byul’! “ Sooyoung said triumphantly

I nodded shyly and glanced at Yoona who seemed so quiet since we arrived here. Maybe it’s because there are a lot of things she missed since she left. A lot of things changed. I started singing as a familiar tune begins.

I refused to believe that it could be so, 
There's no way that I'm in love with you, 
I lied to myself that it's just a petty jealousy, 
That I must be feeling lonely, but I cannot hide it anymore.

I can’t help but to smile as I sang the song because the song fits the situation that I am in.

I caught a glimpse of Yoona again. She drank the glass of alcohol greedily that Hyoyeon gave her. What could she be thinking right now? I quickly looked back at the screen to finish the song that I’m singing.

So seeing this, it must be, 

I was unaware, 
But now I can see that
Your presence have delved deeply into my heart.
 

I finished the song and they all cheered at me. Sooyoung gave me a glass of soju and whispered, “You need this.” I smiled and thanked her. I definitely need that after singing a song that suits me.

“So next is Im Yoona!” Sooyoung cheered along with the girls. “Your song would be...” she said as she dragged her fingers on the songbook.

“Dang shin eun naneun babo imnida by Stay!” she exclaimed. I almost burst out the soju that i’m drinking upon hearing the song. What’s with Sooyoung and drama OST?

“Sooyoung yah! What’s with the song from dramas?!” Jessica yelled at the tall girl.

“What?! I choose a perfect song, no big deal! Besides i love reminiscing some epic scenes from those songs!” Sooyoung said as she wiggled her eyebrows.

I know she didn’t mean the dramas she watched. Jessica glared at her and turned to talk to Taeyeon, who’s in between the couple. I can feel the awkwardness that Taengoo feels because she can feel the between the two and i think as soon as they get a chance, they’ll pounce each other, damn the people around them.

Amber tapped me and offered me a piece of kimbap to feed me. This would be my first time to eat kimbap again. I remembered how Yoona loves to cook kimbap and letting me taste her creation. I shyly accepted it, completely aware of Yoona’s glare on us.

Yoona grabbed the mic sharply from Sunny’s hand and started singing the sad song.

I was a fool. I was a fool.
My regrets were too late too. I know that it can't be turned back.

I was so wrong, I'm so sorry.
I didn't get to say then, instead I was just being rotten.
So I'm here now pleading for forgiveness with worry

I exhaled when I heard Yoona sang those lines with her beautiful voice. Damn, you Sooyoung and your songs. Yoona looked at me as she sang and my heart immediately tightens when Yoona utter those words. It’s really believable. It felt like she’s saying sorry for doing this to me.

I didn't get a chance to say then, instead I was just being rotten.
So I'm here now pleading for forgiveness with worry

Because of my pride I'm ruining myeslf with alcohol
and the bitter taste of cigarette smoke.

I felt my heart is going to explode from all of this so I abruptly stood up and went out of there. I didn’t even care what would they think, I just need to get out of there. I went to the backdoor of the KTV bar and sat by the wall to cry my eyes out.

Why can’t I ask her directly about the questions i’m dying to ask?

Why can’t she come up to me and tell me what she feels already so we could finish this cat and mouse game that we have?

Why can’t i be mad at her for leaving me?

Why? Why Why?

Where this would leave us? The elephant in the room is refusing to leave and refusing to be known.

I sighed. Things might be different if we would just fight for what we feel but we’re both cowards.

When would be the right time for us?
