Two Faced Freak
"A-amber... I can ex—" he walked toward her but she took some steps back.
"No, Jinki, Onew... there's no need to explain." Amber smirked and kept shaking her head.
"But Amber..."
"Don't... Get away from me. I don't wanna see you anymore." Amber took a few more steps backward before she ran away. Jinki took off his glasses and threw them on the ground.
Amber ran off. She was so angry. She could feel her heart's beating speed up but not because of running, but because of her anger that kept growing every second.
She ran to a friend's flat. She wanted to talk to someone. She needed an explanation from someone, excluding Jinki. She rang the doorbell a couple of times before the door actually opened.
"Minho..." She hugged him then she started crying.
"Amber..." He her back. He didn't know what happened but he was sure it's not good.
"I feel so stupid, Minho. I've never felt this stupid before." She sobbed as soon as they sat down on the couch.
"You knew about Onew, didn't you?" She asked him.
"What about Onew?"
"His double identity. You knew about it, didn't you?" She looked up at him and asked again though she was afraid to hear his answer.
"We've been friends for 8 years." She knew, with that said, he meant yes.
"I'm sorry for keeping that from you. It's just that I wasn't in the position to tell you." Minho gave her a hanky.
"I understand. I just don't get it why he had to make a fool out of me." Amber couldn't stop crying anymore. No matter how hard she tried, her tears just kept falling out.
"You were starting to feel something for him, huh?" Minho was scared of the truth.
"I already like him, Minho. Both of his identities. Both Onew and Jinki. Thinking of it is making me feel a lot stupider." Amber admitted. She felt ashamed.
"I don't know what to do, Minho." She hugged him again.
Jinki threw off all the things he could see in the bedroom. He was so mad at himself. He didn't know why Amber had to find out that way. He was aching so much because he knew she was aching too and it's all because of him. He started crying. The weak him was crying. The one that likes Amber more was crying. He screamed as loud as he could to let the mad him come out.
"Lee Jinki, what's wrong? What's gotten into you?" Jonghyun entered the room and rushed to the older boy.
"She found out, Jjong. She found out." He uttered before crying his heart out.
"It's... Uh... It's gonna be okay, Jinki." Jonghyun patted his back. He honestly thought he was the cry baby, but seeing Jinki that moment, he realized he was a lot more sensitive than him. Or maybe he just really, really likes Amber.
"No, Jjong. We both know it ain't gonna be okay!" Jinki was losing hope. He was going mad.
"I think the best way to do is to stay away from her for a short while. Give her enough time to think. That's what she needs." Jonghyun advised Jinki. He had nothing better in mind.
"What if she never forgives me?" Jinki desperately asked him.
"She will forgive you, Jinki. Trust me. I know Amber." Jonghyun shook him by his shoulder.
Jinki stayed away from Amber like what Jonghyun suggested. But not because he wanted to. He just got ill the next day after she found out so he stayed on his bed in his house with his mom taking care of him. For three days, he didn't attend his classes, he didn't go to the company, he didn't see Amber.
"I'll pay Onew a visit later."
"Can I come? I heard it has been three days."
"Mrs Lee said his fever has not gone down yet." Soojung and Jinri were discussing about Jinki and Amber was actually eavesdropping. She's still worried about him even after what he did.
"Amber... Are you coming with us?" Soojung asked her. If she comes, then Jinki might feel better.
"I have plans for later, sorry." Amber stood up and left her food without even touching it.
Jonghyun invited Amber to eat dinner with him. He told her that there wouldn't be Jinki. He assured her.
Unlike the other dinners they used to have, that night, they were quiet. As if the talkative Jonghyun just ran out of things to tell her. Even if he had some things to say, he couldn't tell her cos it was all about Jinki.
"Are you mad at me?" Jonghyun stopped eating and looked at her.
"I wouldn't have come if I was." Amber focused on her food.
"Still," Jonghyun sighed.
"How is he?" She asked almost like a whisper that made Jonghyun smile.
"It's just a tiny fever, Amber. He said you shouldn't worry about him cos it'll make him feel guiltier." Jonghyun wasn't joking.
"I like him," Amber suddenly stated.
"That's why it hurt me so much when I found out." She continued after stopping eating.
"He didn't know you like him."
"Well, that's too bad."
"He likes you too, Amber." Jonghyun just had to say that.
"Should I be happy about it? If he does like me, he shouldn't have lied to me." Amber lost her appetite. She was getting tired of all the explanations that Jinki's friends were giving her.
"I'm full. Can I go now?" Amber put down her chopsticks and drank a glass of water.
Jinki was ready to go out again. He was okay but his heart was still aching.
"Son, I have a big news for you." His dad started in the middle of their breakfast.
"There's a scholarship offer for you in England." He didn't know if he should be happy about it.
"It's a 3 year course on business and marketing. It could be useful to you in the future." His dad continued with an excited face expression.
"Well, what do you say?" He was still waiting for Jinki's answer.
"Can you give me time to think about it, dad? A week or two, maybe?" Jinki's mind wasn't prepared for that.
"Uh, sure. Though I don't get it why you have to think about it."
"Thanks, dad. I'll see you at work later. Bye, mom." He bowed at them.
