Taste
Learn Mandarin With Me! (Music Version) -- Extra Study Materials
Alright, this might sound weird? keke.
But still, this would be applicable when you want to describe the taste of the food that you're eating~
For a start,
How do we say 'Delicious'?
In Mandarin,
Delicious = 好吃 [hao-chi]
-好 = good, nice
-吃 = eat
so, 'good/nice (to) eat' would be 'delicious'
What about 'Not delicious'?
If you are able to apply what I have taught in the Main Tutorial,
you would have been already familiar with the NEGATIVE PARTICLE 不 [bu].
So simply add 不 in front of 好吃,
不好吃 [bu hao-chi] = Not delicious
Now let's get to the TASTE~
Basically just 5.
酸 [suan] = Sour
甜 [tian] = Sweet
苦 [ku] = Bitter
辣 [la] = Spicy
咸 [xian] = Salty
Adding 很 [hen] which signify 'large amount' (acts as a magnifier),
很酸 [hen-suan] = very sour
很甜 [hen-tian] = very sweet
很苦 [hen-ku] = very bitter
etc.
Adding negative particle 不,
不甜 [bu-tian] = Not sweet
不辣 [bu-la] = Not spicy
不咸 [bu-xian] = Not salty
etc.
Using counter 点
(from main tutorial lesson 30)
Term: 一点 [yi-dian]
*Aside from being " 1' o clock" , this means "a little bit".
甜一点 [tian yi-dian] = a little sweet
酸一点 [suan yi-dian] = a little sour
咸一点 [xian yi-dian] = a little salty
etc.
Alright~~
So now you can tell lao-shi,
How is the taste of the food you've last eaten (delicious/not delicious), and also, what does it taste like? (:
