More Than This

PART TWENTY FIVE

“And you did what?” Bom repeated herself, unable to believe what Dara was saying.

Dara gave out a heavy sigh, “I told him that it’s too late and walked out.”

“And that’s it?” Bom asked clenching her fists in frustration, “You’re giving up on him?”

Dara looked away avoiding the question, but Bom didn’t liked to be ignored, “So you don’t love him anymore?”

Dara bit her lip and shut her eyes tightly, but Bom continued, “And you won’t miss him when he leaves?”

Dara shifted slightly and looked at Bom with tears in her eyes, “I miss him more than you could imagine. I miss him so much it hurts. I think of him in everything I do, everywhere I go. It's like he's stuck in my head and he just won't get out, and the worst part is. I know how happy he is with her.”

“And who told you that? Kiko? Please we both know that she’s ready to lie about anything just to get you out of the way,” Bom told her seriously.

“But he’s taking her to New York with him,” Dara said quietly.

“Did he say that?” Bom asked raising a brow at Dara, but she just shook her head, “My point exactly and even if he was to take anyone with him I bet it would be you.”

Dara bit her lip and shook her head, “I’ll be fine, I have Jaejoong...”

“Dara... Jaejoong is...”

“I’ll learn to love him one day... he’s so sweet and caring that it shouldn’t be hard...” Dara said hugging herself, she was about to cry, she knew it.

“Dara listen to yourself,” Bom tried to reason, “You can’t learn to love someone, it doesn’t work that way, you just feel it and you do it without a reason .”

“But... Bommie...” Dara felt tear running down her cheeks, “I can’t be with Jiyong, not now.”

Bom sighed and pulled her cousin into a tight embrace, patting her head to calm her, “Listen Dara, love isn't complicated, they love you or they don't. Or they want to be with you or they don't, it's that simple.”

Dara looked up at her with confusion, Bom just smiled down at her and dried her tears with her thumb, ”I know it’s hard for you right now, but you’re the strongest and most stubborn person I know, you won against death and fought your way back to Korean. I know you’ll be fine despite what happens, but please don’t give up on your happiness.”

Dara looked away from Bom and hugged her knees tighter, she couldn’t look at her because she would break down into tears and she already made her decision; not to cry because of Jiyong ever again.

“I know Jiyong isn’t a knight in a shiny armour on a white horse, he’s more of a dragon if I think about it, but Dara you love him,” Bom said her voice breaking, she was close to tears. She wanted so much to help Dara and take the pain away, but she knew very well that the only one who could do that was Jiyong, even if Dara didn’t want to admit it.

**

“You’re happy with Kiko…”

Jiyong shook his head, it wasn’t true. He wasn’t happy at all and most importantly not with Kiko. Besides, Jiyong didn’t think of her in a way that Dara imagined, he knew that because Kiko never made him feel the way Dara did, even with the most simple gesture.

“It’s always been about her and the fact that she hates me so much for being around you.’

Jiyong sighed, he was an idiot. How could of he not noticed the hatred that Kiko felt for Dara, he always thought that Kiko was just hurt because of what happened with Yuri and that the two of them just didn’t understand each other.

“But she won, she has you for herself now, so please tell her to leave me at peace.”

Is that really it? He lost her because of his own stupidity and now it’s too late to fix this whole mess, Dara said it herself after all.

“I think it’s too late for that.”

“Fck!” Jiyong shouted and slammed his hand against the engine of the car so hard that it started to bleed, but Jiyong just ignored it and kept slamming, hoping it would realise all the anger he felt at the moment.

“Jiyong!” He heard Deasung calling, but chose to ignore it.

Suddenly someone took a firm hold on his wrists, Jiyong looked up to see a furious TOP looking at him, “What the hell are you thinking?!”

Jiyong just stared at him for a brief second before snatching his wrists away and taking a few steps back, hanging his head low.

“What’s happening here, Hyung?” Seungri  shouted running into the garage followed by Taeyang. TOP looked at them and then back at Jiyong, he hissed under his breath and slammed the car front mask that Jiyong was working on shut.

Taeyang’s eyes widen when he saw the dripping blood from Jiyong’s hand, “Ji, are you alright?’

Jiyong looked at his brother from the corner of his eyes and without saying anything walked passed him, ignoring all of them completely. TOP felt his blood boiling, he put his hand on Jiyong’s shoulder and pulled him back austerely before he got the chance to leave the garage.

TOP’s eyes darkened with rage as he sharply pulled Jiyong, so that they were face to face. Jiyong’s face was blank as TOP spoke his next words between gritted teeth, “I had enough of your sorry ... don’t blame anyone else for the fact that your unhappy, it’s your own fault that you can’t get rid of some people in your life and that’s why you lose the ones that you really care about.”

Everyone was just watching quietly, waiting for Jiyong’s reply, but suddenly someone entered through the door of the garage, they turned their heads to see who it was. it was Kiko. At the sight of her TOP chuckled bitterly and pushed Jiyong back and walked past him, leaving the garage.

“Omo GD!” Kiko gasped and when she saw the blood, she ran to his side leaving her bag behind, “Are you alright?”

Jiyong just stared down at her as she inspected his wound, she looked up at him and smiled sweetly at him, which just made him feel sick to his stomach. He looked at her expressionless and he spoke his next word blankly, “It’s fine, the wound isn’t deep...”

Kiko just raised her brow at him and smirked, “I trust in your medical knowledge, but I think it’s better if someone sees it just to be on the safe side, baby boy.”

Jiyong just stared at her blankly. How could she act so kind and sweet in front of him and to others be a complete different person? How can someone be so fake?

Then Dara’s smiling face flashed in his mind, he clenched his jaw and gritted his teeth. It was all because of this girl in front of him and his own stupid, delusional mind that Dara won’t ever smile at him the way she used to.

‘When I got out of rehab, I had to figure out what path to go down and part of that included taking certain people out of my life. It's not like I hate Kiko and Sohee - I just don't want to be her best friend any more. You can't threaten people into being your friend. You can't bribe them into being your friend.”

Jiyong then remembered what Yuri told both him and Taeyang after telling them about her story on the streets. Back then he didn’t understand what her words meant, but know he understood it perfectly, well maybe apart from the fact that she didn’t hate them. Because unlike Yuri, Jiyong felt a enormous rage for both himself and the two girls. What more is that he realized it last, everyone else saw Kiko and Sohee for who they really were. But not him.

He felt Kiko run a finger down his palm gently and then he snapped. Jiyong whipped away his hand away from her grasp, “That’s enough!”

Kiko gulped and took a few steps back, “I-I’m sorry... d-did it hurt?”

She then smiled softly at him and took an unsteady step forward , ready to grab his hands again, but before she could touch him, Jiyong snatched his hands away from her reach, “Get off!”

Kiko’s eyes widen in surprise, as she stuttered slightly with her next words, “A-alright... we don’t n-need to go to the doctor... l-let’s just clean your hand...”

Jiyong just glared at her coldly and said, “Are you done?”

Kiko just looked at him in confusion, she didn’t understand what he meant and she didn’t understand his sudden change in mood.

“You can finally stop your sweet girl act and tell me what you want from me?” He said crossing his arms across his chest.

“GD... w-what are....”

“It’s Jiyong.”

Kiko just stared at him completely stunned, she didn’t understand what was happening around her and  what happened to him.

“My name is Kwon Jiyong,” He said as he was informing her, “GD is just a ridicules, childish nickname.”

Everyone in the workplace watched the scene before them in a state of a shock. No one understood what suddenly got into Jiyong, since he was always the first one to defend Kiko if anything happened, and now he’s being so cold to her. TOP stopped in his tracks and watched with a small satisfied smile, he just hope that his was going in the right direction.

“What I find the most amusing, is that for so many years you kept your fake act of sweet and innocent...” He told her and Kiko just gasped in shock, “and I didn’t notice anything... God I must’ve been blind.”

“GD... I-I mean Jiyong... I don’t...” Kiko stuttered out.

“You don’t understand?” He asked raising his brow, “Well, I don’t understand either. What did Dara ever do to you, huh?”

“So it’s about her again?” Kiko shouted back, “Why do you care so much about that spoiled brat? Why does everything revolve around her?”

“You still don’t get it, do you?” Jiyong chuckled in amusement, ”It’s because I love her.”

Kiko just stood her wide eyed and motionless, it felt like someone has just slapped her right in the face. Taeyang stared at Jiyong and couldn’t help but smile, he finally admit it and he did it in front of everyone.

“You may feel that way, but it doesn’t change the fact that she thinks that we’re going to New York together...”

“Is that what you told her yesterday?” Jiyong asked between gritted teeth, he felt his nail dig deep into the wound, but he couldn’t care less.

“Maybe... does it matter?” Kiko asked with a smirk on her face, “It’s not like you two are going to be together.”

Jiyong just stared a bit stunned with her words, those it mean that she planned this whole thing? Well, maybe apart from Jeajoong appearing, that was just a lucky coincidence, but still.

Seeing his reaction Kiko took the chance and walked up to him, wrapped her arms around his waist and whispered into his ear, “You should know by now baby boy, that I don’t give up what’s mine to anyone.”

Jiyong gasped at her words, he was so wrong about her, he wanted to kick himself for not realizing the type of person she is sooner, if he did none of this would be happening right now.

“I’m done,” Jiyong said shaking his head and unwrapped her arms from his waist and headed for the exit.

KIko glared at Jiyong’s back as he walked away completely ignoring her words. She started to shake out of anger and shouted after him, “You’re still going to go to her? It’s not gonna work GD, Dara has Jeajoong now, she doesn’t need you...”

Kiko was cut off when she felt someone hand on her shoulder, she turned to see Deasung, his eyes darkening, “I’ve never hit a woman before, but you’re really pushing my limits.”

Kiko just shook his hand of her ad glared at him. Seungri then walked up to them, to take Deasung away, before the guy really loses his patience, if that were to happen it would look like World War III was beginning. Daesung is usually a very nice and helpful guy, but if you get on the wrong side of him, he’s even scarier than TOP.

“Leave it Hyung, I don’t even that title is acceptable for someone like her.”

“Watch your toungs you two!” Kiko growled, “You’re forgetting that you’re working here and my uncle owns this place, so he could...”

“Fire us?” Taeyang filled in for her, “Be my guest.”

“You’re always using that threat it’s getting boring,” TOP said while walking past her with a smirk, “You know what? I’ll save your uncle the trouble. I quit!”

“Tell him I’ll be back on Monday to pick up my stuff,” Taeyang said and turned to the direction in which Jiyong went.

“See ya!” Seungri waved and ran in the direction of the guys.

“Yeah, sounds about right,” Deasung said putting his hands in his pockets walking off.

Jiyong watched in awe, what his friends were doing and it was for him, they were doing it for him. When Taeyang reached him, he just looked at him unable to utter a word, but Taeyang just smiled and swung an arm around his shoulders, “Come on Ji, let’s get you patched up!”

**

Once they were all outside, Jiyong came back to his senses. They shouldn’t have done that, not for him! They should think of themselves, they needed the money and the garage was a good deal, “You guys, shouldn’t have... “

“Wow! What’s this, Hyung? First you were all Matrix and now it’s turning into Titanic,” Seungri joked, which earned him a slap at the back of the head from Jiyong, “Kya! I’m being serious, you shouldn’t have done that, not for me.”

“Aww... poor Jiyongie, and he actually thinks we’ve done it for him,” TOP said and looked around the guys who just chuckled.

“Listen Ji, you’re important to us, but we wouldn’t quit a job for you. We just had enough of Kiko and her ways and this was a good opening for us,” Taeyang explained to him.

“Not to mention, one of the best ways to quit, have you seen her face?” Daesung added with a chuckle.

Then they hear a clapping noise, they looked up to see that Seungri clapped his hands together like he was about to pray, which meant only one thing, he came up with one of his bright ideas again.

“I’m scared to even ask,” Deasung said while shaking his head, while the others nodded in agreement.

Suddenly Seungri pointed at Jiyong and said, “Alright, now Hyung you need to take a 180 degrees turn and change the Titanic into The Notebook or A Walk to Remember and get Dara Noona back!”

“Kya! What’s up with all these movie titles out of a sudden rat?!” Daesung shouted and the two of them started to argue. Jiyong sighed and looked at the ground, if they only knew that there’s no way for it to happen.

**

“And I guess that when Jiyong leaves you won’t feel lonely.”

Dara sat in the little chapel in their house and thought about all the events that happened recently in her life. It was all so confusing and hard to understand. Just a few months ago she and Jiyong had nothing to do with each other and now he’s leaving to New York and it’s making her uneasy.

“…if he was to take anyone with him I bet it would be you.”

Was that right? Would he take her with him if this situation wasn’t like this? But it wasn’t her fault that it turned out like this, he was the one who let her go.

 “…Because I fcking love you…”

Dara felt her eyes water, he said those words to her yesterday and even though she didn’t admit it she couldn’t let them go. Dara looked behind her at the entrance of the chapel where it all happened. Heavens knows that at that moment all she wanted to do is snuggle close to his chest and for him to hold her tightly and tell her that everything would be okay. However, how could she do that? How could she believe that everything was going to be okay, if he wasn’t able to make a decision on what he wanted.

“Did anyone ever tell you that you look like an adorable baby when you blush.”

And what about Jaejoong? What was she suppose to do with him? She kissed him yesterday, she didn’t know why, but at the time it just felt like the right thing to do and he didn’t seem to mind.

“You can’t learn to love someone, it doesn’t work that way, you just feel it and you do it without a reason .”

Would it be selfish of her to use Jeajoong for her own happiness? Maybe she didn’t love him at the moment, but he was the kind of guy that any girl would fall for in the matter of time – he was cute, kind, gentle and caring. Dara hoped that maybe with time her heart will forget about Jiyong and learn to love Jeajoong instead.

“…please don’t give up on your happiness.”

Dara clenched her hand on the hem of her dress, she didn’t know what to do, she didn’t know what made her happy anymore. She prayed for a sign, just a little guidance to help her, but nothing came.

Dara was so lost in her own little world that she didn’t notice that someone entered the chapel. Only when she felt arms wrapping themselves around her waist from behind she regained her consciousness.

“What are you doing here?’ She asked slightly surprised.

“Well.... I’m writing a term paper on the finer things in life, and I was wondering if I could interview you...” She heard him say.

Dara couldn’t help but chuckle and shook her head at his silliness. She smiled and turned herself around in his arms, when his face came into her view, she could see a giant grin on his face, which just made her giggle.

“Do you really feel the need to do that?” She asked him raising a brow.

Jaejoong just blinked at her innocently, “Do what?”

“You know exactly what I mean,” She said and nudged his chest with her index finger.

“If you mean coming to see you when you’re sad to make you smile or to cheer you up, then yes, yes I do,” He told her with a smile.

“Why?” Dara asked confused, she didn’t understand it, why would he go out of his way just to cheer her up?

“What do you mean?” Jaejong asked with his eyes slightly widen in surprise, “I already told you once, didn’t I? I hate to see girls cry!”

“But, why would you care?” Dara asked, her eyes watering once again, “Why would you care if I’m sad or not?”

Jeajoong chuckled quietly and shook his head in disbelief, “Idiot, it's not my fault I fell in love. You are the one that tripped me.”

Dara stared at him in shock as tears ran down her cheeks. He was serious, she could see it in his eyes, all those emotions written so clearly in his eyes. Jaejoong smiled softly at her and used his thumb to wipe the tears away, before pulling her into a tight embrace and patting her head gently.

“Jea… I…” Dara stuttered choking on her own tears.

“Shh…” He shushed her, “It’s fine… I know you don’t feel the same, but I just needed to tell you… I want you to know, that no matter, I’ll be here for you when you need me…”

Dara just buried herself deeper in his chest and nodded. Was this her sign?

**

Heejun walked into the office carrying some folders and documents in her arms. When Yang noticed his wife struggling he went up to her and took some of the weight away from her, “You should have asked someone to help you with these, or they could bring it to me instead.”

Heejun just smiled and shook her head, “So that you can lock yourself up here and avoid me again?”

Yang chuckled and put the documents back down on his desk, “You know I’m not avoiding you, I just need to finish this project with the investors from Jeju, they’re getting really impatient.”

“But they have families as well, they should understand,” She told him with a small pound on her lips.

Yang laughed slightly and looked at her, “I’m sure they do, but they want to invest in things that will give them money so that they can buy whatever their family wants.”

“That’s why I hate businessmen, they are all soulless,” Heejun said more to herself while nodding her head.

Yang coughed up suddenly, “You’re married to one.”

“Hmm... really?” Heejun eyed him carefully, before seating on the desk, “I always thought of you as more of a Santa’s helper.”

“Santa’s helper?” Yang asked curiosity.

Heejun just nodded her head and a teasing smile appeared on her lips, “Yes a cute little elf.”

“Kya!” Yang exclaimed and tried to catch her, but he was too late when Heejun swung her legs and got off the desk on the other side, only to sit in his office chair with a smirk.  Yang just chuckled quietly at his childish wife, he walked over to her, pulled her upwards so that she would stand, then he sat himself down on the chair and pulled Heejun to his lap.

“Humm.. I like this. I think I should tease you more often,” She said snuggling closer to him.

Yang just laughed under his breath and run his hand up and down her arm, “What did you want to talk about?”

She looked up at him, she just stared at him for a while as if reading him and then spoke, “I’m worried.”

“You’re always worried,” He tease and pinched her nose.

Heejun just looked away in annoyance and pounded, “I’m serious Yang, I’m worried about Dara and Jiyong.”

“What about them?” He asked ah he rested his chin on her shoulder and wrapped his weist from behind, trapping her in a back hug.

“They avoid each other and practically never speak. They used to be so close, but now it’s like they don’t even want to be in the same room with each other and there’s also this Jeajoong. He’s nice and all, but I just don’t trust him.”

You’re just overreacting. I know, it would be great if Dara and Jiyong end up together, but you can’t force them into anything, you know?”

Heejun nodded sadly, “I know, I just wish they would try to work things out.”

“Hey, everything will be alright,” Yang caressed her cheek in reassurance, to which Heejun just smiled softly and nodded.

“Besides, this wouldn’t be happening if Sunmi and Kiyoung...” Yang started but stopped, suddenly remembering that he promised himself not to bring them up in front of Heejun.

“Sunmi must have her reasons for doing such a thing and I need to remind you that no matter what she saved Dara’s life.”

Yang’s eyes widen in shock, “Are you defending her after all of this?”

Heejun shook her head slowly, “No, but I’m trying to understand her. I mean think about it, if Ms. Dong didn’t react the way she did back then and told us to keep away from Jiyong, what would you do?”

“I would hate it.”

**

“A nerve impulse is an electrical charge that travels down the cell membrane of a neuron’s dendrite and or axon through the action of the Na-K pump. Ordinarily, the inside of a neuron’s cell membrane is negatively-charged while the outside is positively-charged,” Dara read over her biology notes with a pound.

She scratched her forehead and continued to read, “When sodium and potassium ions change places, this reverses the inner and outer charges causing the nerve impulse to travel down the membrane. A nerve impulse is “all-or-none:” it either goes or not, and there’s no halfway.”

Dara  let out a deep sigh of frustration, she was screwed, there was an exam on Monday and she didn’t get the topic at all! It also didn’t help that she missed out on half of the course while she was away in the Philippines and now because of that she had to suffer, “I could of asked Donghae for his phone number, then he could help me. Dara why are you so stupid!”

She slammed her head on the desk and cried out, “Oh Lord, whatever I’ve done I am so sorry, please forgive me!”

There was a knock on the door and Dara lifted her head and stood up walking over to the door. When she opened the door she went stiff, there in front of her stood Jiyong, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

She looked at him and cleared , “Hi...”

He just nodded his head and handed her a pile of books that read ‘Biological Studies’, she furrowed her brows and the sight of them and looked at him questionably, “Your parents told me that you’re having trouble with your studies, so I figured these would help you out.”

Dara bit her lip and took the books from him, “Thank you...”

Did he just give her his books? Why? Didn’t he need the anymore? Or did he think that she is so stupid that she needs them more than he does?

“It’s the least I can do...” He said rubbing his neck again, “I mean you had to deal with my terrible poetry skills...”

“When you are old and grey and full of sleep,

And nodding by the fire, take down this book,

And slowly read, and dream of the soft look

Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,

And loved your beauty with love false or true,

But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,

And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,

Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled

And paced upon the mountains overhead

And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.”

Jiyong stared at Dara as she read out the poem that Mr. Sung gave him to analyze and write about. From the look on Dara’s face Jiyong could tell that the poem touched her in some way, unfortunately he couldn’t share those feelings with her because he was struggling to even read it, so that it would sound even half as good and posh as it was written. The only thing he knew about it was that it was written by someone called William Butler Yeats not that it helped him, cause Jiyong never heard of the guy, and that the poem was called ‘When You Are Old’ which just lead him to a conclusion that the poem was about an old person who’s remembering their live.

“So what do you think?” Dara asked crossing one of her legs over the other.

“Huh?” Jiyong just blinked at her in confusion, he didn’t really understand what she was asking him.

“About the poem,” Dara told him and scooted closer to him so that they could look at the book together.

“Umm... w-well it sounds posh...” Jiyong started, but stopped when he saw Dara looking at him weirdly, not that he was doing anything wrong, but to Dara, Jiyong overused the word ‘posh’ he always used it when it come to anything formal.

“I-I mean like it sounds like that guy has put a lot of thought into it... and you smiled... so it must be meaningful... and from what I understand from it, I worked out that it’s about an old man remembering or going through the events that happened in his life...”

Dara couldn’t help but giggle slightly to which Jiyong just turned his head away in embarrassment, ”Forget it... this is just the end of me. Mr. Sung just hates me and likes to see me being tortured that’s why he gives me the hardest poems he has.”

“Alright... I’m sorry,” Dara said and patted his back so that he would turn to face her again, “But maybe, he wants to challenge you because he believes that you can do well?”

Jiyong turned his head with a surprised expression, ”Mr. Sung? No! I don’t think so. He hated me ever since the first day of school”

“Because you tripped him up on the corridor while running late for your first class,” Dara reminded him with a raised brow. Jiyong turned away again and ranked a hand through his hair in embarrassment. His brother was gossiping again, he found it annoying that Dara finds out about all the embarrassing and stupid things he has done in the past from his own brother.

“It’s because Bea, forgot to set the alarm,” He tried to explain his reason for being late and make Dara see that it wasn’t his fault that time.

Dara chuckled quietly, she actually found it cute that he was explaining himself in front of her about  something so silly, ”You know what? I think if you can prove to Mr. Sung that you can do well in this assignment he should go easy on you.”

“You think?” Jiyong asked, his eyes brightening with hope, to which Dara couldn’t help but smile softly and nodded.

“So are you gonna give it a shot?”

“You bet!” Jiyong said and gave her a thumbs up.

“The first paragraph speaks of a gentleman who is telling his love to slowly recall her past as she nears death - both the good and bad times,” She leaned in closer to him, so that she could show him which part of the poem she was talking about, but in result of that their shoulder brushed against each other, giving Jiyong that strange feeling in his stomach.

As if that was not enough Dara’s soft hair tickled the exposed skin on Jiyong’s arm, she was so close that he could smell her sweet scent, “In the next part he tells her that many loved her for her beauty and grace, but he alone loved her for who she really was, despite her sorrows and changing moods.”

He bit down on his bottom lip and started at her as she spoke with some much passion about something that he considered a waste of time, “And finally in the last paragraph, he asks her on that fateful distant day to recall a bit sadly how her love for him will have been lost amid the coming chapters of her life.”

“So basically, the poem talks about an old man who tells his lover to remember their past with each other and then he tells her why he loved her and at the end even though he is said he asks her to remember that they lost each other because of death?” Jiyong asked to make sure that he was understanding her words correctly.

Dara nodded seriously, “Yes, that’s it.”

“That’s a bit sad,” Jiyong said looking down at the book that was on Dara’s lap.

“Is it?” Dara asked surprised with his statement, “I think it’s beautiful.”

Jiyong looked about at her with confused eyes, to which she smiled warmly at him and explained, “What I mean is that he was with her to the very end, he loved her till the end and remember their live that their shared together and even thought it saddened him to let her go, he did it because he loved her so much.”

Jiyong gasped at her unable to say a word. Her eyes began to water, but she smiled despite the fact, “Isn’t that what true love is? Being selfless for someone precious to you?”

Dara let out a small smile upon remembering how she tried to teach him different poems and how upset he got whenever he didn’t get one, but in the end his hard work was worth it.

‘You weren’t that bad of a student, you’re a lot smarter than you give yourself credit for,’ She thought.

Then something coughed her attention, Jiyong had his right hand bandaged, what happened to it? Was he involved in one of these street fights? Why was he acting like an idiot ever since she came back?

“And also I wanted to say goodbye,” Hearing this Dara came back to reality and looked at him in confusion.

“I will be leaving soon to study in the School of Medicine at New York University. So I figured that I’ll say goodbye now, coz I may not get another chance.”

“Soon?” Dara asked quietly, “ But you still have another semester to finish here.”

Jiyong just shook his head, “The tutors there offered me a trial semester.”

“A trial semester?” Dara repeated slowly not understanding.

“It means that I can finish my work and exams there, while also getting involved with different opportunities that they have for students like me, so that I can gain more knowledge and experience.”

“Oh, when are you leaving then?” She asked in a whisper, but just loud enough so that Jiyong could hear it.

“A week after the exam week, so that’s going to be the week after the next one,” He said and tried his best to smile.

“That’s great!” Dara beamed, surprising him a little, “I’m sure you’re gonna be a great doctor and you’ll have lots of fun. “

JIyong bit his lip looking at the ground, “Thank you.”

Dara turned around on her heels, so that her back was now facing him. She hoped that he would get the message and leave and then she heard him say, “And Dara, the only thing you need to remember about the nervous system and senses is that sensory neurons receive information from the sensory receptors, interneuron’s transfer and interpret impulses, and motor neurons send appropriate impulses instructions to the muscles and glands.”

Dara nodded her head slightly, “That’s what I thought.”

Then sound of the door closing and someone walking down the stairs reached her ears. Finally Dara couldn’t hold herself back anymore and let the tears run free, she clenched the books that Jiyong has given her close to her chest and fell onto her knees, sobbing and shaking uncontrollably, “Please... please don’t... don’t leave me... I don’t want to be alone...”

Chapter 27: I NEED AN UPDATE TO SAVE MY NOW PUFFY EYES T-T I'VE BEEN A SILENT READER IN EVERY STORIES THAT I READ BUT WHEN THERE'S A CHAPTER THAT PROBABLY NEEDS MY NOT-SO-NEEDED RESPONSE I WOULD LET THE OTHERS KNOW ABOUT WHAT I THINK, REALLY. GUYS, WHY ARE WE ALL LOOKING AT THE MESSED UP RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EVERYONE IN THE STORY? SHOULDN'T WE BE HAPPY THAT THERE ARE STUPIDITY, LOVE, HOPE, PROBLEMS, TRUST, APPRECIATION, TWISTS, ETC? COS' WITHOUT THE HATED CHARACTERS AND THE EVER SO SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS THIS STORY WOULD PROBABLY BE LAME BUT IT'S NOT, IT MADE US FEEL DIFFERENT EMOTIONS. WE'RE CRYING, WE'RE SMILING, WE'RE TOUCHED, AND ALL BCOS OF THIS WORK OF ART. :) NOW, BACK TO MY PATHETIC SIDE T-T I'M WEIRD BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT COS' I WANTED TO SEE HOW ADORABLE THIS MISERABLY STUPID COUPLE STAND AGAINST THE CHALLENGES. DAE TO THE BACK FOR AUTHOR-NIM. AND PLEASE TRY TO AT LEAST RECOMMEND MORE STORIES TO ME, I'M MORE THAN GLAD TO READ THEM. KEKE. ♥

Chapter 26: WOW!!! Author-nim!!!
I was a silent reader to this day, heck I didn't even have an account but I had to make one coz there's something that is bothering me...

I mean reading from the comments a lot of people are blaming GD and telling him to 'fix this mess' but really that mess is not exacly his fault I mean Dara could be blamed as well.

He didn't speak to her but she didn't say anything eaither and from reading the story closley we don't really know if Ji was meeting Kiko because it's not mentioned and from knowing Kiko she could be making things up just to get rid of dara.

And if Dara still does love Ji why couldn't she listen to his side of the story?

Just wanted to point that out
