PART FOURTEEN

“WOW!!!”,  Dara screamed gripping onto the handle of the cup tighter, so tight that her knuckles become white.

Yuri couldn’t help but blush. Bom and Dara just giggled when Yuri covered her face with her hands embarrassed.

“There’s no need to be embarrassed,” Dara told her taking a sip of her drink and giving Yuri a teasing stare. “Taeyang Oppa finally took an interest in you!”

“Give me a break will you? I shouldn’t have told you anything!”, Yuri pounded and puffed her cheeks.

“I would find out anyway.”, Dara told her and put the cup back onto the table and walked over to sit on the sofa.

Bom furrowed her eyebrows, “How?”

Dara was about to speak when Yuri cut her off, “Because her boyfriend would tell her!”

“BOYFRIEND????!!!”, both Dara and Bom shouted in shock.

“Dara do you have a boyfriend?”, Bom asked shocked.

“No!”, Dara shook her head drastically.

“Yes she does!”, Yuri said nodding her head.

“Who? And  how came I don’t know about it?”, Dara asked trying her best to recall the events of last night. Did she do something that she doesn’t remember?

“Jiyong...” , Yuri coughed out.

“WHAT?!,” Bom spat out her tea and turned to Dara. “DARA????”

“NO!”

“Then how came the two of you disappeared after the dance? ”, Yuri asked holding onto her chin suspiciously.

“WHAT?”, Bom was screaming so loud that probably the whole house would have heard her if they weren’t alone.

Remembering the things that happened last night Dara just blushed a bright berry colour. She hid her face in her knees and tried to calm the fast beating of her heart.

“Kya! I knew it!”, Yuri started to squeal and jump around like a little kid.

“Dara,” Bom walked over to her kneeling in front of her she cupped Dara’s red face and asked seriously. “Did he do anything to you?”

Dara shook her head.

“Did you do something you regret?”

Dara’s eyes went wide when she understood of what Bom is talking about. Did she really think that Dara would do such a thing? And... Jiyong he wouldn’t.

“Unnie, I think you’re exaggerating a tiny bit. No matter how much of a jerk Jiyong is he wouldn’t do something like that.”, Yuri told her and sat on the sofa next to Dara.

“Yes, Bommie he wouldn’t and you know me well enough to know I’m not like that.”, Dara told her cousin and took a hold of one of Bom’s hands and shook it gently.

Bom just smiled and nodded, “I know, but I was just making sure.”

“Oh Dear Lord!”, Yuri covered with her hand to hide the biggest grin ever.

“Yuri are you feeling okay?”, Bom asked slightly concerned with Yuri’s weird behaviour. 

“Yes unnie, I am,” Yuri nodded and took a hold of Dara’s right hand and pointed to the ring on her finger. “Look!”

Bom quickly sat up on the sofa on the other side of Dara, “Sandara Park I want full details on what happened last night with Jiyong. Don’t you dare to miss out anything!”

“Nothing happened.”, Dara told them shaking her head.

“I’m not buying it!”

“I’m not buying it!”, Taeyang said putting on his shirt.

“Bae, how many times do I need to repeat myself?”, Jiyong askd slapping his forehead with his hand.

“Till you tell me the truth.”, Taeyang and sat next to his brother on the bed.

“But, I already told you that nothing happened about ten times.”, Jiyong told him annoyed.

“And I already told you that I’m not buying any of it.”

Jiyong sighed ever since this morning his brother was nagging on him about last night. He wanted know what happened and when Jiyong said ‘Nothing happened’ Taeyang said he doesn’t believe him. Sometimes Taeyang acts like a girl with all these questions of his.

 “Ji, you want to tell me that you were annoyed this morning without a reason,” Taeyang put his hand on Jiyong’s shoulder. “You can tell me.”

“It’s nothing to worry about Bae.”, Jiyong told him.

“Did you guys have a fight?”

Jiyong shook his head,

“Did you do something to upset her?”

Jiyong shook his head again.

“Did something happened when you were away?”

Jiyong just continued to shake his head a no, “No, nothing.”

‘Nothing other than me realizing how stupid I’ve been.’, Jiyong thought but didn’t say a word.

Yuri was waiting out in the shore like Taeyang have asked her. She didn’t understand why but didn’t question his request.

She wondered why he would want to meet up with her after all his feelings for Dara were really strong and Yuri knew that. She sighed at the thought of how upset she was when Dara and Jiyong left the party last night, leaving Taeyang behind, but to her surprise he didn’t mind he told her that he want both of them to be happy.

She never knew that Taeyang would be so strong and would rather give up on Dara to make her and Jiyong happier. Came to think of it if Dara and Taeyang would end up together you could call them the perfect couple.

Taeyang and Jiyong were completely different from each other.

Yuri felt a pat on the shoulder and turned to see Taeyang standing there in front of her with a warm smile. Yuri couldn’t help but to smile as well just by looking at him

“Sorry to make you wait, but I couldn’t decide which one to take.”, he apologized and handed her a single red rose.

“Oh, t-thank you.”, she blushed slightly and looked down at the beautiful flower.

Taeyang reached his hand out for her, “Shall we get going?”

Yuri nodded happily and took his hand. He lead her down to a small gangway where a boat was waiting for them.

“Taeyang-ssi?”, Yuri asked a bit confused.

“I promised to give you a night to remember didn’t I?”, Taeyang smiled and reached for her hand to help her to get on the boat.

“Neh, but...”

“What’s wrong you don’t get seasick do you?”, Taeyang asked worriedly.

“Ani.”, Yuri shook her head.

“Then what’s the problem?”

“It’s nothing.”

“You sure?”

Yuri nodded her head and took a step onto the boat. Taeyang smiled and got on starting the engine.

Little did both of them know that they have been watched.

“Kyaa it’s SO romantic of him!”, Bom squeal from the nearby bush.

“Bommie be quiet or else they’ll hear us.”, Dara scolded her.

“But, don’t you think.. the rose... and the... boat... and the... and the...”, Bom started her blabber.

Dara shook her head slightly, “Yes, I think you need to find yourself a boyfriend.”

“NO! I don’t need one.”, Bom crossed her arms across her chest and nodded to herself.

“It doesn’t look like it.”, Dara raised her brow at her cousin teasingly.

Bom just pounded and looked away to which Dara laughed lightly, “Bommie-ah, come on I was just joking.”

“No I don’t believe you, you’ll just tease me.”, Bom continued to look away.

“Oh Bommie, no man is worth such a great girl like you.”, Dara hugged her around the shoulders.

“I’m that special?”, she asked and slowly turned her head to look at Dara.

Dara just nodded with a smile, “Yes you are Bommie also I wonder where did they go.”

“I never knew that becoming a spy is a part of your life plan.”

Dara looked up to see Jiyong looking down at her while shaking his head.

“Oh, Jiyong what are you doing here?”, Dara asked.

“I could ask you the same thing.”

“Me?... umm... I’m just... watching the sunset.”,  Dara pointed to the setting sun in the horizon.

Bom just slapped her forehead with her hand at Dara’s lame excuse while Jiyong raised his eyebrow.

“Watching the sunset in a bush?”

“Well, yes.”

It was already getting dark when Yuri and Taeyang reached the middle of the Han River.

“Taeyang-sii would you mind telling me what exactly is your plan?”, Yuri asked a bit confused with her surrounding, what were they doing in the middle of Han River at a time like this?

“Yuri do you know what day it is today?”, Taeyang asked.

“Saturday?”

Taeyang chuckled, “Yes, but more importantly it’s the 8^thof October.”

This information clearly didn’t help Yuri it just made her more confused and lost.

“Just wait a bit and you’ll get it.”

Yuri nodded in agreement, what else could she do?

Silence came upon the two of them. Yuri wasn’t really sure of what to say to him. Normally she is a talkative person, but not in front of Taeyang she’s just too scared that she’ll say something silly and make a fool out of herself.

“Yuri could you tell me what’s bothering you?”, Taeyang asked breaking the silence.

“What do you mean?”

“Ever since I met you there seems to be something on your mind.”

“Taeyang-sii...”

“And now I noticed the same behaviour in Jiyong, so could you tell me what’s wrong?”

What was she suppose to tell him?

You know Dara has TTP and could die any day and so we’re worried, but please don’t tell her that I told you.   

It doesn’t seem like a good idea.

“Yuri?”

What was she suppose to say?

“I-I’m scared.”

“Of what?”

“I’m scared that one day my life will change and I won’t be able to do anything about it.”

“There’s always a way.”

Yuri shook her head sadly, “No, not this time.”

What else could she say? It was the closes to the way she was feeling.

“I heard a story once. This story really happened and ever since I heard it I believe that everything is possible.”, Taeyang took her hand and squeezed it tightly.

“The story was about a bird that carried messages for the Chinese Lord thousand years ago. The bird was a beautiful and strong creature, he was send out to carry these messages because the Lord had trust in the bird. He trusted him to always came back home to China. Although the bird had a choice of being free or coming back to China to be locked up in a cage, he always came back. One day the cage broke and the bird was set free and since that day no one saw or heard of the creature again.”

Yuri couldn’t help but smile, “It’s a beautiful story.”

“I guess what I’m trying to say is that we always have a choice and even if life is tough and not fair it’s up to us how we see it because there are only two things that can stop you; your own body and your own mind. Being sad is easy so the challenge is to change that and see things in a brighter side. Life will be better if you choose to make it better.”

Yuri was about to say something but got interrupted by a sound of an explosion, she looked up and saw fireworks exploding in the sky. Then she looked back at Taeyang and saw a smile on his face.

“Happy 8^th of October!”

Dara walked faster to get rid of Jiyong who walked behind her. He was being mean and teasing her again.

“Oh came on rabbit don’t get mad.”

Dara just pounded and walked even faster.

“Dara, come on let’s talk?”

“No!”

“Why not?”

“Coz you’re a JERK!”

“That reason is not really good enough.”

“I don’t care...”, she didn’t get to finish because suddenly she started to feel really dizzy and lost her balance she was about to hit the ground when someone caught her.       

“Hey Dara.. Are you okay?”, Jiyong asked and put his hand on her forehead.

“Oh gosh you’re burning up, let’s get you home!”

“No!”, Dara stopped him by wrapping her arms around him. “No... I’m fine Jiyong... I just need to rest for a bit.”

“A-are you sure?”, he asked unconvinced.

“Yes.”, Dara nodded her head weakly.

Jiyong sat under a tree leaning his back against it while having Dara sitting on his knees with her head on his shoulders and his jacket covering her.

“Dara... maybe it’s better if I’ll get you home so your uncle can look at you?”

Dara shook her head slightly, “No it’s okay, I feel better already.”

“You sure you’ll be fine?”, he asked looking over at her and putting his hand on her forehead again.

Dara giggled and nodded, “You know what with experience like this you should become a doctor.”

Jiyong gave her a confused look.

“What? You’re really good with stress and you can be caring if you want to.”

“Dr. Dong Jiyong, that doesn’t sound bad?”

“I think it suits you”

Jiyong couldn’t help but chuckle, “Okay I’ll think about it if you promise me to take care of yourself.”

Dara nodded her head happily, “Deal.”

Both Heejun and Yang entered their living room and the happy day suddenly turned into  a bad one.

“I’m sorry Mr. Kwon she just refuse to leave.”, said the maid and bowed her head in shame.

“It’s okay.”, Yang told the maid and told her to leave then turned his attention to the person on their sofa.

“What do you want Sunmi?”, he asked harshly.

“Is that how you treat your old friends?”

“It was a long time ago.”, Yang continued with his harsh tone.

“Don’t worry I won’t take a long time. I just came to tell you that I’ll be taking Dara back to the Philippines with me.”, Sunmi told the taking a sip of the whisky in her glass.

“Over my dead body!”, Yang yelled.

“Oh, but that’s not fair. You already have a son and I think it’s only fair that I’ll get my daughter back.”, Sunmi said innocently.

“What are you talking about?”

“Oh, you mean he doesn’t know?”

“How did you?”

“You know what I think it’s fair if we tell Jiyong the truth about his parents, don’t you agree?”, Sunmi asked looking over at Heejun.

“No, you can’t please.”, Heejun said with a cracked voice.

“I hate to do this, but it’s for the better, unless you let me have my Dara back?”

“GET OUT!”

Sunmi smirked and made her way to the door, “I’ll be back for my daughter very soon.”
