Chapter 20.
You Really Never Know What You Have Until It's Gone.Eunkyung's POV
“You sure you don’t want one?” I pointed my lollipop at Sehun’s face since he was staring intently at it. “No thanks, it’s yours.” He swiftly unwrapped it, threw away the wrapper and popped it into my mouth. I grinned and took it out, “Do you want to taste it?”
Sehun rolled his eyes, “You offering me something that you touched already, now that’s a first.”
“I’m just being nice! You know, what a girlfriend does with her boyfriend…”
I barely said the last few words, embarrassed that I was even saying such a thing.
Sehun leaned in closer, “Hmm? What did you say?”
I prodded my bottom lip out, not wanting to repeat myself.
“Cute.” He pecked the bridge of my nose and held my hand, acting like nothing just happened. I smiled to myself, satisfied that he did indeed hear me. Keep it that way, I’m never going to say mushy stuff like that again, ever!
I was happily holding hands with Sehun when Kai approached us. Wait, how did he know where to find us? Maybe it was by coincidence.
“Hey Eunkyu-“ He stopped in his tracks and stared at us in disbelief.
“What?” I asked, taking the lollipop out of my mouth.
Kai stuttered, “Are y-you two…?” He pointed to our intertwined hands with his mouth wide open.
“Yeah, what’s up?” Sehun wrapped an arm around me to prove that we were dating.
I blushed at his actions, I still wasn’t used to all the sudden skin ship he would do, or even having the title as ‘Sehun’s girlfriend’. Although I was happy that he didn’t mind doing all that, I was still shy about it. I thought Miyoung might have told Kai that I was dating after the encounter at the office…but I guess she thought I was lying.
“I….um, can I talk to Eunkyung privately for a while?” He rubbed his head sheepishly.
Sehun took the lollipop from my hand and nodded. He gently pushed me towards Kai before giving him a look that I couldn’t decipher, and then walked away from us, disappearing around the corner. Did he just take my precious lollipop? I knew he secretly wanted it all along…
“Hey.” I gave Kai a small smile. He isn’t smiling as usual. Think about it, I haven’t seen him since the day he phoned me at work. I wonder what happened.
“Well, I’ll make a long story short. Miyoung rejected me. She thought I was leading her on for nothing, and I tried explaining to her but she wouldn’t believe me. She thought I was two timing her with you, since we were so close with each other, and said that it was clear that you were flirting with me.” He started off calm but I could sense that his temper was kicking in. “The day I called you, I thought I had resolved everything already and that she was fine with it, but in fact, she was still pissed off at me. Then a few days later after the argument, I confessed, but she turned me down right on the spot. Turns out she thought that this confession would make things better, and that my love for her was not ‘real’.” He made quotation marks with his hands at the word ‘real’. Miyoung really didn’t tell him I was dating Sehun then, huh. She truly believed I was dating two guys at the same time…I pity her for being so stubborn.
“So, its now my fault that she didn’t accept to be your girlfriend?” I retorted and crossed my arms. This was ridiculous, he asked to talk to me only to do so with a rude attitude.
“No, but maybe if you were available that day and helped me explain to her and prove our friendship, this wouldn’t lead to her turning down my confession. Maybe if she believed me more before that, she would have accepted me.” He clenched his fist and tried to hold back from raising his voice.
So Kai, this proves that Miyoung is a hardheaded girl and is actually very stubborn, you should have known that a long time ago! It seems like she’s the type to not believe anything unless she sees proof!
Of course, I said that in my head because I didn’t want to anger Kai any further.
“You can’t expect me t
