A Second Chance
Hyuna’s POV
“Cow!” Jae Hee shouted happily. The three of us were playing ‘Hang-man’ while waiting for Jay’s photoshoot.
“Yay! Correct!” I smiled at him. Yoseob was very friendly towards me and Jae Hee and he has no problems taking care of Jae Hee by himself. At times we would talk for awhile while Jae Hee is thinking of the next question.
“So you’re Junhyung’s bestfriend?” I asked politely.
He nodded and smiled. “Yup! We’ve been friends eversince college.”
“Oh.. you must have known quite a lot about him right?”
He tilted his head a little. “As far as I know, yeah. But I don’t know if he didn’t tell me some things. Why’d you ask?”
“Just asking.. I’ve lost contact with him after highschool. What was he like during college? Quiet, outgoing,…” I asked.
“He’s a friendly person but seemed quite reserved towards girls. At first I thought he… prefer guys.. you know.. but as our friendship got closer, I know why he was being reserved.” He smiled.
He was being reserved towards girls? Am I the cause of it? Can’t be.. who am I to make such an impact in his life. Maybe he’s tired of getting too much attention from girls during highschool. So I guess he’s quite different in college.
A ringing sound of a phone disrupted my thoughts. Yoseob answered his phone.
“Whaddup?”
“Yo man. Can you bring Hyuna and Jae Hee up now? We’re ready for the next set.”
“Aites. No probelmo~”
He hangs up and turned to me. “Junhyung said the both of you can go up now.”
We reached the second level and Jay was just chatting with Junhyung. They get along pretty well. I walked towards them.
“How was the shoot?” I asked, turning to both of them.
“It was easy! Jay here has a talent of becoming a model. Seriously, you really should consider it,” Junhyung complimented sincerely.
Jay just laughed.
Junhyung’s POV
After the shoot with Jay, the shots with Jae Hee were easy. He really follows after his father, photogenic. Hyuna on the other hand was a little shy but tried to make herself comfortable so that Jae Hee won’t follow her shyness. I think that’s quite impossible.
After all that, it was finally Hyuna’s individual shots. For a second I thought Jay might want to stay and watch.
“Come on Jae Hee, let’s buy something to drink. I don’t think omma wants us to see her doing aegyo.” Jay said and Jae Hee chuckled.
“Yahh.. what’s that supposed to mean??” Hyuna whined and smacked Jay’s arm. Jay just gave her an innocent smile.
Jay brought Jae Hee out, holding his small hand. Yoseob stood at the door awkwardly.
“So…. I guess I’ll also go out now. Call me if you need me,” he said and walked out, closing the door.
Hyuna was standing in the middle of nowhere and I was leaning on my table with the camera in my hands. Its highschool all over again, where we find it awkward around each other when all our friends left us alone. The new Hyuna that I met a few days ago disappeared just like that. Now she’s back to become quiet. I really feel like I’m living in the past right now. Nine years ago.
Hyuna’s POV
As soon as the door closed and I’m left with Junhyung alone, I felt a similar feeling. I don’t feel like a wife, a mother. I felt like I’m still a student. A teenager that is being shy around her crush. Why am I feeling like this? I shouldn’t be. Maybe Junhyung felt nothing. He’s just waiting for me to talk or just… break the silence. Okay, one of us has to start talking.
“I think I can see the sun setting Junhyung..” I said, pretending to be looking outside the window.
He looked up from his camera that he had been staring at since forever and tilted his head, smiling. He his lips and looked up at the ceiling. He let out a small chuckle.
“Very funny. Let’s get to it then. Do you want to sit or stand? Or lie down?” He raised his eyebrows.
I stared at him in disbelief. “I think that’d be inappropriate Junhyung.. I prefer standing. I’ve sat for quite awhile just now.”
He smiled. “Alright then.”
He motioned me to stand near the windows where the sun rays are going in beautifully. “Jay stood at the right side just now. Now you stand on the other side of the window, looking out.”
I did what I was told. “Relax…” he said softly, seeing that I’m quite stiff. Suddenly my mind went all the way back to 11 years ago.
Year 1, highschool.
My body stiffened and I heard him chuckled softly. “Relax..” he whispered closely to my ear. I shivered slightly, feeling his warm breath against my ear.
I tried to relax myself and I found myself leaning on his body. The both of us just stayed at that position, enjoying the scenery in front of us. How I wish I could stay in his arms forever I thought.
“Hyuna?” I felt a tap on my shoulder. I got back to the real world and turned. I saw Junhyung standing beside me, with camera in his hands. He was looking quite concerned. Did my mind wander off that long?
“Yeah?” I asked.
“Did you hear what I said just now?” he asked.
Uh-oh..“Erm.. sorry I might have daydreamed for a while just now. What did you say?” I bit the corner of my lip.
He smiled and chuckled a little. “It’s okay. I’m done with that shot, shall we move on to 3 more shots?”
“Oh.. okay!” I smiled cheerfully as if I didn’t just go back to the past for a second.
He took a long sunflower from the long vase at the corner of his studio and gave it to me. I looked at him quizzically.
“Pose with it. Dance with it. Do whatever with it.” He chuckled.
I pushed away all my shyness being around him and did the best I can. I don’t want to make this photoshoot hard for him as much as it already is.
I acted some aegyo and pretended as if I’m still a little girl. Junhyung just smiled and laughed looking at my actions. He sighed as he shot my last pose. “If only I could take more than 4 shots Hyuna..”
“I’m that good huh..” I smiled. He laughed at my statement. I missed hearing his laugh. I hate to admit it but I really miss him. So much.
