I knocked on Yoseob’s door and waited for him. He opened the door.

“Ah Junhyung.. back from work already?” he asked.

“Yup! Come on. Today’s my place right?” I reminded him. We would always have dinner at each others’ apartment since we were once living alone and we live beside each other. He went back in to take his handphone and we went to my place. I open the door as I didn’t want to disturb Hyuna who’s probably cooking right now.

“Hyuna~ Jae Hee~ I’m home..” I called out as I walked in. Yoseob closed the door and Jae Hee came running out from the kitchen towards me.

“Uncle Junhyung!” he said happily, opening up his arms. He hugged my neck as I bent down and I carried him up, supporting him with my arm. I smiled at him as he grinned widely.

“Where’s omma?” I asked. He pointed to the kitchen with his little hand. I was about to walk to the kitchen when a lady walked out of the kitchen.

“You’re back Junhyung..” she said.

“OMMA!” I was too shocked that I almost dropped Jae Hee. What is my mother doing here??

Hyuna followed behind her, smiling at me. I was really speechless and my eyes were wide open. Jae Hee tapped my cheek lightly, looking at me while I just stared at my mother.

“Uncle Junhyung, are you okay?” he asked innocently. I turned to Jae Hee blurrily and back to my mother.

“W-what are you doing here omma?” I asked panicky.

She laughed. “You mean I can’t even visit my own son?”

“You could have called first right? What if there’s no one in?” I said. I realised sound like my mother.

“I’ll go to Yoseob’s” she answered.

“What if he’s not in either?”

“Then I’ll go to your studio. Yong Junhyung how old do you think I am? I’m old not stupid,” she said irritated.

“Omma…” I whined. Its kinda weird though. I’m holding a four-year old boy in my arms and whining to my mum. She sighed and turned to Jae Hee.

“Jae Hee, do you think you can give halmeoni and Uncle Junhyung some time? I need to scold him because he has been naughty,” she said childishly. I raised an eyebrow.

Jae Hee chuckled and nodded. “Neh halmeoni”

Hyuna walked towards us and stretched out her arms to take Jae Hee from me. As she took Jae Hee I just look at her, hoping she would transfer some information into my head on what has happened eversince my mum arrived. She just smiled sweetly and carried Jae Hee. Before I could say anything, my mum had already dragged me towards my room like a little child going to get scolded. She let my hand go once we’re inside and shut the door slowly. As she turn to me, I just look at her, waiting for hr explanation.

She smiled. “Why are you so scared Junhyung? Are you scared I might judge her? Scold her? Bully her? Do I look like a big bully to you Junhyung??” she said.

“Aniyo… but omma, didn’t I tell you that I would bring her to you when I’m ready? Why are you here now?” I replied.

She took a sit on my bed and look up at me. “Wae? So you get to prepare her for me beforehand? So you can tell her what are my likes and dislikes and how she can get on my good side?” she interrogated me.

I looked away and faced the ground, swaying uncomfortably from side to side. Did she just read my mind? Damn she’s smart.

She laughed. “Then that’s fake Junhyung. I want to know her real character. That’s the reason I came. She was cooking and I thought I’d help. But it seems that she’s fine on her own,” she smiled and stood up. I smiled slightly knowing that my mum was impressed.

“Good job. She passed my test,” she smiled and walked towards the door. I couldn’t believe my own ears. Did she just approve of Hyuna?

“Bwoh? Jin.. jincha?” I stammered.

“Yes Junhyung. Now go and wash up so we can eat dinner together,” she said while walking out of my room. I swear, if my smile get any wider at that moment, my mouth will tear apart. I scratched the back of my neck and smiling sheepishly. I was looking up when I saw Hyuna by the door. . She just saw me being so weird. She chuckled slightly when she saw that I was startled by her presence.

“Here’s your towel. Go wash up quickly. Dinner is almost ready,” she said, handing me my towel. I walked closer to her and took it.

“Gomawo. Did my mum give you a hard time? I’m so sorry..” I said apologetically. She smiled.

“Aniyo. She’s very nice and treats Jae Hee well too. I felt bad for not talking to her much coz I was busy cooking,” she pouted. Aish.. so cute.. That’s Hyuna.

“Gwenchana. She said she really like you. Anyway I better get ready quickly. Can’t wait to taste your dishes!” I smiled widely. She smacked me lightly on the upper arm, smiling shyly.

“No high expectations! I’m no professional chef,” she said.

“Arasso..” I said and patted her shoulder.

Dinner was great. Hyuna really can cook really well. And I’m not just saying it coz I love her. Even my mum agreed. The whole dinner made my day a whole lot better. Except now. Sleeping time.

“Omma, are you going home?” I asked as I sat with her in the living room.

“Home? Its already so late Junhyung. I’m staying for the night,” she said casually.

“But omma.. I only have two beds..” I said softly.

“Its okay! I’ve had it planned out. I’ll sleep with Jae Hee on your single bed and you can sleep with Hyuna on the queen-sized bed. I can’t let Hyuna sleep with Jae Hee on the single coz she’s preganant. I can’t sleep with you on the single either. We’re not that small,” she explained. What?? Sleep with Hyuna? Are you insane??

“Why can’t I sleep with Jae Hee and you sleep with Hyuna?” I said. Please agree omma.

“Coz Jae Hee is still young. Who knows he may kick around when he’s sleeping. And I know how much you hate being kicked during sleeping,” she said.

“Then I’ll sleep on the couch here,” I said as I patted on the couch we were sitting on.

“I can’t sleep with her omma.. it’ll be awkward..” I explained softly.

“I didn’t ask you to make love with her Junhyung. You’re just sharing the same bed. The faster you sleep, the less awkward it’ll be. And no you can’t sleep here coz you have work tomorrow. What if you have backache the next morning? How are you going to work? Who is going to pay for your expenses?” she asked me back. Seriously, I had never won any debate with my mum. She would always win. Always.

I sighed and she smiled. She knew she had won. Now time to tell Hyuna.

I went into her bedroom while she was puffing up some pillows, probably getting the bed ready for Jae Hee. She turned to me as I knocked on the door.

“Oh Junhyung-ah..” she greeted me while smiling.

“Erm Hyuna..” I started as I sat down on the bed and pulled her right hand gently to motion her to sit also. As she sat down, she turned her body to face me upfront.

I took a deep breath before explaining what my mum had said to me just now. Including her reasons behind it.

After I had finished explaining, I added in my own plan.

“I know it’s a very bad idea. So when my mum and Jae Hee had gone to sleep, I’ll go out and sleep on the sofa okay?” I smiled, reassuring her that its okay for me.

“Jun..” she said softly. I know I know.. She’s touched by my sweet gesture right? Well its Yong Junhyung.

“Its no problem Hyuna. Really.”

“Junhyung, I don’t mind.. if you sleep.. with me..” she said slowly so that I could actually register what she said. She looked away as if embarrassed of what she just said. Its like she just let out a confession.

“Really? Are you very sure?” I confirmed with her. She nodded. I smiled. I’m glad that she’s not that awkward with me anymore.
