IMPORTANT!!!! So I just found out that Jay Park is shorter than Junhyung, but in this story, just take it as if he's the same height as Junhyung aite? :)

“Its been a long time! How are you?” she asked happily, her smile still so wide.

I’ve been miserable without you. “I’m good. You?” I asked calmly, trying to hide my happiness. I finally get to see her again. After nine years. Nine torturing years.

“I’m great! Happy as per normal. What are you doing here?” she sounded a little different. More cheerful. She used to be quite quiet during highschool. I like the new her now.

“I’m having lunch with my friend. His name is Yoseob.” It’s pointless to say Yoseob’s name but I just feel the need to tell her that I’m with a guy. And that I’m still single. Waiting for her.

She nodded thoughtfully.

“What about you? You seemed to be waiting for someone,” I asked.

“Oh ya. I’m actually waiting for-“ her words were cut off by a cheerful scream from a little boy. We turned to the direction and he seemed to be running towards her.

“Omma!!” he shouted happily, grinning from ear to ear. As soon as he reached Hyuna, he hugged her tight. Hyuna had also kneeled down to hug him back.

Omma??

Please tell me there’s a really logical explanation for this and that Hyuna is NOT his actual mother. I just stared at both of them.

“Omma! Omma look! Appa bought me this lightstick! When I shake it, the light can be seen in the dark! Look omma look!” he said happily, shaking the lightstick on his little hands, showing Hyuna.

Hyuna held his hand that was holding the lightstick and looked at it in amazement. “Wow.. Maybe we can put it in your room so you don’t have to switch on the lights anymore when you sleep! Shall we?” Hyuna asked.

He nodded enthusiastically, looking at Hyuna. Suddenly his attention went to me. He looked up. I just smiled.

“Omma who is this?” he asked.

Hyuna, who seemed to have forgotten about my existence by her side, stood up, holding the boy’s hand in hers.

“Oh Jae Hee-ah, this is my friend from highschool. His name is Junhyung,” Hyuna said, pointing to me.

He nodded and stretched his hand upwards to me asking for a handshake. “Hello Junhyung ajusshi! My name is Park Jae Hee.” He smiled widely.

Ajusshi? Gosh I feel so old.

I took his hand and give him a handshake. I kneeled down to his level and smiled.

“Hello Jae Hee. It’s nice meeting you.” I looked up at Hyuna.

“I can’t believe you didn’t invite me to your wedding.” I tried to sound as if I was joking so that the situation will not tense up. Deep inside, this whole thing is turning me round and round. I refuse to believe, accept that she had gotten married. And she has a child! Clearly she had moved on and I have not. Now 9 years seemed short for me. We had just separated for 9 years Hyuna! And you’ve already moved on??

“Aish.. mianhe… we lost contact remember? Jeongmal mianhe.” She pouted. Aish this girl….

“It’s the only time I get to see you in a wedding dress and I missed it! Aish!” I imagined seeing you in a wedding dress. But I didn’t expect that you would be wearing it as someone else’s bride.

“Its okay! You can look at the photos!” she smiled happily. So there’s visual evidence too?

I tried to force out a smile. Fortunately she buys it.

Suddenly a tall, well not so tall, he’s about my height, guy walked towards us. He stopped beside Hyuna, his arm circling her waist by the side. That should be me. She turned and smiled to him.

“Hyuna? Who’s your friend?” he asked politely.

“Oh Jay! This is Junhyung. He’s my highschool friend. We used to be very close but we lost contact,” she said.

“Yong Junhyung.” I offered my hand.

He accepted my handshake. “Park Jaebum, but you can just call me Jay.” He smiled politely. Crap there’s nothing I can hate about this guy.

Hyuna didn’t say anything about him being her husband. Maybe he’s not?

“So er.. how long have you guys been married?” I asked.

“You can ask Jae Hee’s age! Jae Hee-ah, how old are you?” Jay said, bending down a little.

“I’m 4 years old!” he said happily, smiling. He showed four little fingers to me. I just smiled. Damn. I was expecting a “Ani. We’re cousins. We’re not husband and wife.” Tough luck.

“So.. where’re you going now?” I asked, trying to sound friendly. Its very hard trying to be nice when you just got to know the girl you’ve been waiting for is already married. And the guy is very nice so its quite impossible for them to break. And come on. Four years?? That is very long for a young couple like them!

“Oh we’re going to the kids play park that just opened at the top level. Care to join us?” Jay asked.

I nodded. “It’s okay. I’m having lunch with a friend.” I smiled.

“Girlfriend?” he smirked. Yeah. The one right beside you.

“Nah.. I don’t have one. Just my bestfriend, Yoseob.” Again I had to mention his name. Why Junhyung?? Why must you make a fool out of yourself?

“Ahh… alright then. We should get going. Baby, have you given him your new number? You know, so the both of you won’t lose contact again,” Jay said, turning to Hyuna. What is this guy? A saint? How can a husband be so relaxed??

“Oh ya! I almost forgot! Your phone?” she said, asking for my phone and taking out hers.

“Omo! My phone died!” Hyuna said. Jay took out his phone and handed to me. “Here. Use mine.” He smiled.

I took the phone and unlock it. Of course. A picture of him and Hyuna together with Jae Hee. Altogether cramped in one picture. But it was sweet. It clearly resembles a perfect family. The green monster in me is just dying to get out. Its called ENVY. I saved my number quickly and gave it back to Jay.

“A very nice photo you got there,” I smiled.

Jay chuckled. “Thanks man.”

Hyuna gave my phone back and said, “Junhyung’s a photographer! Maybe he can take a family portrait for us. Can you?”

Oh no Hyuna. You did not just say that. Its already hard enough for me to accept that you are his, now you want me to capture your happiness without me? Photography is supposed to make me happy and calm. Not depressed.

Despite all that, I said, “Sure! You can come by the studio anytime. Here’s my card,” I said, handing my name card to Hyuna. “I’ll give you a special price since we’re friends.” And an ex lover.

We bid our goodbyes and I walked back to the café. My fake smile faded almost immediately after I turned away from them. Hyuna. Hyuna. Hyuna. Kim Hyuna…

How can you do this to me?

I can’t blame you. Coz you didn’t know I waited.

I was four years too late.
