14 years back

I was about to enter Hyuna’s room after I got back from work when I heard her talking to Jae Hee.

“Do you love omma Jae Hee?” she asked.

“Of course omma! I love you very very very much! As big as the world!” he said cheerfully. I just smiled at his words.

“Omma love you too very much. We have to take care of each other when baby Jihye is born okay?”

“What about Uncle Junhyung?” I leaned closer to the door, anticipating her answer.

“We’re going to move out after Jihye is born. We don’t want to be troubling Uncle Junhyung right?” My heart dropped, maybe even break into thousand pieces. She’s going to leave after she had given birth. She agreed to move in with me because I’m worried that she’s pregnant. But I didn’t expect her to move out after that. I want to take care of her. Forever.

Jae Hee remained quiet. “Have you bathe Jae Hee? Bathe now okay? Later we’ll eat dinner together with Uncle Junhyung,” she said sweetly. I went into my room and hid behind the door to wait until Jae Hee is already in the bathroom.

Slowly, I crept out of my room and entered her room, where she was folding clothes.

“Oh Junhyung-ah, back already?” she greeted me and smiled. I smiled back and sat beside her.

“Why must you leave?” I asked suddenly.

“Huh?” Hyuna said clueless. I just looked into her eyes hoping she know what I was referring to. Then it struck her. She knew I heard what she said to Jae Hee.

“I can live on my own with Jae Hee and Jihye, Junhyung. It wouldn’t be right for me to stay,” she said.

“But I want to take care of you. Please let me take care of you Hyuna. You, Jae Hee, and Jihye. I’m not trying to take Jay’s place.. but..” I sighed and stared on the bed.

“I know. I know you’re not trying to do that,” she said softly.

“I’m not forcing you to feel the same way I feel towards you. But just.. just let me take care of you. At least give me a chance?” I asked sincerely. I’m not ready to lose her again.

“How do you know I don’t feel the same..?” she whispered softly to herself, looking downwards on her lap. My eyes grew wide. Did she just say.. she felt the same? Like, really the same?

“You.. do?” I asked stupidly. She just gave me a small smile.

“Why do you want to leave??”

“I don’t know.. I don’t feel right living with you. I mean, what are we? What will people say?”

“Don’t hear the things people say. We cannot please everyone. What is important is what we want and what we do,” I said, hoping it will change her mind about leaving. I purposely leave out her question on what are we. Honestly, I don’t know. But I want to be given the second chance to be with her again.

14 years later

Jae Hee sees his sister from afar talking to some guy by the lockers. He walked up straight to them and just stepped in between them as if the guy wasn’t there.

“Yah oppa! Can’t you see I’m talking to Taemin? And how did you get in my school??” Jihye retorted, frowning.

“No time to notice. Are you coming or not?” he asked impatiently.

“Where?”

“Did you forget? Today is father’s day remember??”

Jihye’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped. How can she had forgotten??

“Omo! I totally forgot! But I got a present already!” She searched through her locker for the present she had made in art class. Jae Hee and Taemin just waited for her to find it.

“Here it is!” she said, pulling out a collage of all the pictures of her, Junhyung and Jae Hee. Jae Hee smiled widely at his sister’s artwork.

“Its nice! But we have to hurry if we want to make it to appa’s studio on time! Gaja!” he said, pulling his sister’s arm.

“Bye Taemin! I’ll see you tomorrow!” Jihye waved happily back at Taemin while being pulled by her brother.

They were turning to a corner when Jae Hee bumped into some small kid in the school.

“Oh Seungie!” Jihye said.

“Oh Jihye noona! Jae hee hyung! What are you doing here?” Hyunseung asked.

“We’re going to visit appa at his studio! Do you want to come along?” Jihye said, smiling from ear to ear.

Hyunseung nodded excitedly. “My appa is also going to fetch me! Why not we go together?”

“Yay! Free ride! Okay! Let’s go oppa!” she linked arms with Jae Hee and held Hyunseung little hands as she walked to the main gate of the school.

They waited for only a few minutes when Yoseob drove into their school, parking right infront of them. Hyunseung opened the passenger door and smiled widely at his appa.

“Appa! We want to go to Uncle Junhyung’s studio to surprise him! Can we?” he asked excitedly.

“Oh? Surprise Uncle Junhyung and not me?” Yoseob pretended to be sad and pouted.

“Ahni appa… Omma said we will celebrate tonight right? Let’s celebrate with Uncle Junhyung first!” he smiled, showing his teeth with two front tooth missing.

“Arasso.. Get in Jae Hee, Jihye!” Yoseob said and the three of them got into the car.

They waited outside where the receptionist is since there is a client inside the studio. They had bought a cake along with their presents for Junhyung and were just waiting to go inside.

The client stepped out of the studio and smiled at them with a bow before walking off. Quickly, they went inside together, with the cake light up in Jae Hee’s hands.

Junhyung’s POV

I heard a knock on the door and I thought my client forgot something. I was about to open it when the door opened and Jae Hee walked in with a cake in his hands. Jihye was right behind him along with Yoseob and Hyunseung.

I chuckled slightly at the sight. Every year..

They sang a father’s day song which is more like a birthday song and ask me to blow the candles. I invited Yoseob to blow them with me since we’re both fathers. After that they clapped their hands happily and we sat down to cut the cake.

“Yah don’t you guys have school?” I asked.

“We end early today appa! But we didn’t tell you because we want to surprise you!” Jihye smiled widely. I’m so lucky to have these two angels with me.

“Appa! Here’s my present to you!” Jihye cheered and handed me an A3 sized drawing block. My smile grew wider seeing the collage of our photos together. The smiles, the laughter, all were coming back to my mind seeing the collage. I took a deep breath to hold back my tears. I can’t cry now. Not now. Maybe when I’m alone or if they are away.

I smiled when I looked up at her. “Thank you Jihye-ah. I really really love it. I’ll frame it up ok?”

She beamed brightly and nodded. She gave me a tight hug and kissed me on the cheek.

“Yah yah my turn! My turn!” Jae Hee said, pushing Jihye aside.

“Appa this is my present,” he said, handing me a box.

I chuckled. “Its not my birthday and you two are already getting me presents. You really don’t have to. I’m just happy to have the two of you in my life,” I said.

I unwrapped it and opened the box. It was a wrist watch.

“I saw your watch is broken. So I bought you a new one! Do you like it appa?” Jae hee asked.

I smiled at him. “Of course I like it Jae Hee. But.. where did you get the money from?”

“I saved up! it took me quite awhile but its really worth it,” he said with a smile.

“Thank you so much dear. I really love it.” I hugged him as tight as I did with Jihye but Jae Hee hugged me even tighter. I almost couldn’t breathe before Yoseob pulled Jae Hee away from me gently.

“Jae Hee-ah, I know you love your appa. But he can barely breathe!” Yoseob and I chuckled. Jae Hee’s eyes widened.

“Omo! I’m so sorry appa! I really didn’t mean to!” he said, waving his hands infront of him.

The little celebration was soon over and we were getting ready to go home. Jihye went to the bathroom for awhile and Jae Hee went over to me when I was packing up my things.

“Appa, this is for you,” he said softly, handing me a small envelope.

“Oh? Another present?” I asked confused while taking the envelope.

“This one is different. Just open it,” he said. There was something about his tone that made me feel quite uneasy. Its like sorrowful.

I open it slowly; curious but at the same time a little scared of what might be inside. I pulled out a thin rectangular piece that seems like a photocard.

It’s a picture of me, Jae hee and.. Hyuna. I had the same exact photo for years in my wallet but it was torn and slightly faded since its already an old photo.

This one looks new and fresh from the printer. Its also hard as a card so it won’t tear.

“Jae Hee-ah..” is all I managed to say softly. I couldn’t take my eyes off the picture. We were all so happy.

“I saw that the picture is getting old in your wallet. I don’t want you to eventually forget omma. So.. I renewed it.”

Now I really can’t hold in my tears. One droplet successfully made it out to my cheeks. I looked up at him with teary eyes.

“I would never forget her Jae Hee. No matter whatever happens. But thank so much for this. I don’t really have much words to say right now except that..” seeing me cry, Jae Hee started tearing up also. He pulled in for a hug and we cried together like some preschool kids.

Heyloo!! I missed updating this fic for a week I think? I focused too much on WPH.. :P anyways.. I think the next chapter would be the last chapter. :( I thought i wanted to make this fic longer but I just cant. new ideas for new fics keep coming in and I don't want to leave any fics hanging.
